Those Red Sox sure do know how to let their fans down.
It's back to pre-2004 times. Everyone on the team is out for themselves and the local media fans the flames every chance they get. Disappointing but familiar, at least.
Jake Peavy is a stud. I am watching the game right now between the Sox and the Sox. I'd guess 95% of the players are wearing weird neck scarfs and full sleeve Under Armour. Peavy is dressed for Texas weather in July with short sleeves and no inclination of how cold that wind might be... I respect that.
Interesting stat: No team in the AL East is below .500 on the year. Only two teams total in the AL Central + AL West are above .500 on the season.

The Rangers run differential is higher than every other AL team with a positive run differential combined.
Another interesting stat. The Rangers run differential is higher than every other AL team with a positive run differential combined.
I guess that is possible when you play in a division where you are the only .500 team.
I guess that is possible when you play in a division where you are the only .500 team.
The Rangers have only played 4 games in the division thus far. They have a run differential of +40 in 16 games against teams with a record of .500 or better.
The Rangers have only played 4 games in the division thus far. I'm not impressed.
The Rangers are 4-3 and have a +4 run differential against teams over .500 on the season (+3 of that coming from last nights game against the Jays.) I'm not impressed.
This is true. It could also very easily be changed to 10-5 with a +37 run differential after tonight, 3-3 with a +1 run differential, 4-4 with an unknown differential or something between based on the results of tonight's games. Early season stats, while interesting, are changed very easily with 1 night of games.

It doesn't really matter if your impressed or not, the Rangers are the best team in the american league right now and I don't think that is going to change anytime soon.

Oh Bacchus your pictures are really cute. I would rather have my favorite team in the world series as opposed to sitting at home because they had an epic september collapse. And I will go ahead and make your next argument for you "at least the red sox have won a world series:", that's all good but right now the rangers are way better than the sox

Neither Holland or Harrsion have really proven to be consistently good pitchers throughout an entire season.

It seems my s*** talking on here has had a negative impact on the rangers, they lost yesterday and are getting killed today so I take back what I said the rangers actually suck. Hopefully this can help them start winning again :)
the rangers actually suck
Which would explain their -2 run differential against teams over .500 on the season. :wink2:
It is actually +2. You forgot to factor in the White Sox being over .500 now.
Ahh, yes. That detail alluded me.

Even though he did great things for the Red Sox, I'm hoping that his Hall chances are forever stained...
I don't really know any such thing... Perhaps if the Justice Department can pull some real, compelling evidence out of its ***, then reasonable doubt can be overcome. So far, I wouldn't be surprised if the Judge delivered a directed verdict: not guilty.

I really think the whole steroid thing is crazy. Just put in the contract that you only get 10% of your contract salary if you use and teams will have an incentive to bust people and players would have a huge incentive not the use. Screw all the investigations, trials, etc. The easier they make the process, the less of a blackeye for baseball in the view of those who naively think that pro sports are 100% hardwork and skill.
The Federal Government being involved in steroid usage in baseball is just ridiculous. I also feel like keeping people out of the Hall of Fame because of steroid usage is dumb. We don't know the extent of the steroid usage in the era and we don't know how many players are using HGH today.

He was at the end of his career while in Boston going 40-39 from 1993 to 1996. He leaves and all of a sudden he is better than when he was in his prime and continues at that level until age 44 winning 3 more Cy Young awards. There is no question in my mind that guy has nuts the size of peas. I also think with the abuse he put his body through, he will die young.
I also feel like keeping people out of the Hall of Fame because of steroid usage is dumb.
Ask Ken Griffey Jr. how dumb it is... If you remove the known steroid users, he is the best hitter of that generation. If you don't he isn't in the top 20.
