That's bad,I was expecting a rise.
Dang it! I am blaming the Royer kid, all his weird groupies must have been upset, or the episode wasn't exciting enough. CT gets angry next week so hopefully it gets better.
Hopefully it will get better because of the CT/Wes fight next week.
Yeah I pray to the gods that CT brings more viewers for next episode, otherwise I guess it's bye bye to the challenges.
Well I'll admit that I didn't watch it live, neither did two of my friends I was with last night. It's summer! :D
Ouch! Pretty steep drop off from last week. It is not looking good for The Challenges. :( I guess the viewer erosion had to do with first time viewers from B2Vegas2 not liking what they saw and Adam's departure. Hopefully the 18-49 rating can hit a 1.0 again before the season ends, then there might be hope.
Or maybe it's because this challenge was pretty tame, although i liked it, and for MTV viewers they need craziness. Last week's challenge wasn't crazy at all but it was showing a fight go down in almost all the trailers and teasers and people love brawls (even though that was far from a brawl). And wasn't the views up to 1.9, how does a 0.3 put it below a mil? Maybe i got the numbers confused.

I guess people don't want to tune in to see Jasmine breaking a mirror. Last weeks ratings were 1.9 million viewers with a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographics. This week the ratings were 1.357 million viewers with a .8 rating in the 18-49 demographic. .3 drop in the 18-49 demographic is substantial because the demographic ratings are what advertisers look at to see if they want to buy ad time during the show. It also influences MTV's desire to order more seasons. I'm crossing my fingers that MTV will keep the challenges alive while RW is still alive.

Oh ok, thanks. Yea that's pretty steep, hopefully it'll go the RW: NOLA2 route.
Just as I cautioned people not to over-react to the first week's decent numbers, I urge caution again. A drop, though never a good thing, sometimes has an understandable reason. Analysis of TV ratings is really not something for amateurs to undertake. Most of the time you will end up being wrong. I usually query my associates in the advertising business how they view individual ratings. They always tell me that any good analysis of the ratings requires that one look at where the missing audience went. I don't think any of us have access to those numbers. I did have it at one time, but the service is prohibitively expensive.

Does MTV take into consideration the reruns that air? Those could possibly get so-so ratings for people who didn't see it the day it originally aired..

There are yes, no and maybe answers to several scenarios I can think of that would fit your question. Can you be more specific?
If the challenges get cancelled I'm literally going to cry.
"Take into consideration" for what purpose? There are yes, no and maybe answers to several scenarios I can think of that would fit your question. Can you be more specific?
If a rerun of an episode airs the next day and gets good viewership, does MTV pay attention to those ratings? Or only the ratings of the premiere of that episode?
If a rerun of an episode airs the next day and gets good viewership, does MTV pay attention to those ratings? Or only the ratings of the premiere of that episode?
Well, yes, they do pay attention to all their ratings, but what the advertisers care about is the initial broadcast and 1st dvr viewings within the first 24 hours. It's a mistake to forget that the better the ratings, the more ad revenue MTV can get for the series. If you record the initial showing and then compare it to one shown at perhaps 3 am on Sunday morning, you will see different advertisers. If you are really asking about renewal based on ratings for all showings or some group of showings, that is an entirely different equation -- but $$$ (revenue - expense) is a very significant factor in any assessment by MTV.

Glad we had a rebound. Hopefully it can be maintained or even build.
