Darrell getting hitting with the shrapnel.  He is useless though, other than a couple of funny one liners here and there.

and yet is still better casting than 90% of the guys on SLA, so what does that say?

Quoting multiple long posts really should be a banable offense.

I know all shows ratings are down in general i guess but the ratings still dropped 50% from 1 million to 500k YIKES... but what makes this even more hilarious is this has a cast of 40 people unlike other shows lol. A simple themed season like rivals, exes or even best friend/ally season would do them good right about now...

Darrell is one of my favorites but that's because I watch for competition. He doesn't add drama (The Inferno and The Ruins being the exceptions) and while his confessionals are awesome that's not fixing the problem the show has right now.

Darrell is zzzzz these days but I see them bringing him back just for the name value. I think they're going to try and go heavy on the established vets next season. Hope queens Laurel, Kailah, Kam are back

Not y'all dragging Darrell because of the Stan lol

literally! definitely when it's extra long replies

I also think big brother and Survivor alliance talk is a big turn off because a lot of people don't watch the shows and get so confused. This does not have the same crossover fan base that they think they do. My sister had always watched and has never watched BB or Vivor

exactly they're trying to market this show to the CBS viewers when they're not even watching right now like they were when TM was on

Was the show on Wednesday last season?  Survivor wasn't on but I wonder how much the BB/Survivor fan base overlaps with this show. Maybe that's a mistake on their part?  There's bigger issues but that could be a factor.

When one of the producers acknowledges that the entire fanbase hates a certain castmemeber but continues to cast them because she likes them...there is your problem. I believe she also said she wants to continue casting from random countries and shows. That doesn't connect with the mass audience. They are so out of touch with the fanbase and what made this show great. They are casting based on personal feelings and also changing the identity of the show and the fans aren't into it.

it's pretty hilarious actually, they think BB and Survivor players will help bring their audiences over, but then they air the show at the exact same time as BB and in a few weeks Survivor. Like BB fans aren't gonna miss an episode because they absolutely need to see what Josh is up to lol really questionable decision making all around

They need to move that time slot. I know Thursday is dedicated to jersey shore and Monday is to teen mom? So Tuesday would work as it wouldn't compete with big brother/survivor

Didn't it use to air on a different day and time?

Didn't it use to air on a different day and time?

I remember it airing on Tuesdays a few seasons ago

Nothing really comes on Tuesdays besides maybe a good basketball game from time to time so Tuesday would be their best bet

Apparently fans hate Josh but you'd be silly to not cast him every season.

the problem is the more seasons a lot of these people do, the less likable they become like a rogan, tori,

This has 0 to do with time slot. You could make every season double agents and the show would work PROVIDED they cast right.

it does becuase big brother comes on at the same time and most of their viewers are watching big brother not the challenge

Ehhh--I think the bigger problem is most fans want people they know not randoms.  Remember a lot of us were even against FM at first then anti-AYTO.   Road Rules and Real World are dead so they need to pool people from somewhere but adding international competitors isn't working.   I really like some of the internationals (Turbo ignoring his fans, Theo, Georgia, Esther and Priscilla) but if the show isn't going to take off in other countries casting them doesn't make sense.  Americans, in general, aren't interested--even more so the casuals than Vevmo

It hurts but people aren't really watching BB either   0.9 yesterday for a live show and eviction.  The fan favorite is now gone so let's see if they lose viewers next week if those viewers come to The Challenge.

Atleast the challenge is still their number one by 4K but that's better than nothing

**** that jersey shore show is doing terrible. Remember the good old days when that was getting 7-8 million a week.

Fox News is at least doing well  lol

@Pinkrose do you think the low ratings this season will make production bring back people we haven't seen in awhile or will change how they cast the rookies next season?

If Jenna was here this wouldn't be happening with the ratings.. I know that's right!

There is a large combination of factors for why the show is performing so poorly.

1. CASTING. Oldschooler has it right. The Vet casting is ABYSMAL. Tori has no fans. Fessy, Kaycee. Josh have ZERO fans. Aneesa can't win, no one is rooting for her. Same with Nany. Ashley's crying/drunk/crazy schtick is awful. Nelson and Cory are completely phoning it in. Devin, CT, and Kyle are sleepwalking. WHO ARE WE SUPPOSED TO ROOT FOR?

The casting producers have ignored the diehard fans so much that they've alienated most of their fanbase. Most of the people they re-cast are not entertaining television. They are producer pets. Tori, Aneesa, Josh, Kaycee, and Fessy all need a permanent break. Ashley needs a significant break.

Rookies? Mostly international, which means they've never watched the show and so they are clueless. A lot of them speak absurdly broken English so for casuals, it just becomes frustrating to watch. This in an American reality show, after all.

Also, none of them have any idea what is going on so they're sheep being led to the slaughter. Three episodes in and it's already too late, they're all doomed and I'm guessing barely any of them will make a lasting impact. And I doubt by Season 39 that any of them will still be on the show.

2. FORMAT. The format is a rehashed version of Double Agents, which felt fresh at the time, but now with so many rookies, it's just chaotic. These teams have no chemistry or flow. It's all mishmashed and no one knows who's with who. And the Vets banding together means we're in for at least three or four more episodes with ZERO politics.

3. Dailies. Throw bags out of a helicopter and run. Crush a cinder block and solve a puzzle. These are lame. At least this week's was a little better. But watching the cool contraption over the water challenges is sorely missed by me. Eliminations haven't been terrible so far.

Vevmo's Xenophobia is showing...

I said from the beginning that fans would struggle with the accents and complain about the foreign competitors. For me, I don't like the randomness. The show works best when it's people with connections competiting so give me 6 people from Survivor Romania but not one person from 6 random shows and countries. It also gives the rookies no chance when they have no loyalty or connection and are playing against vets who have years of history.
