COVID didn't help ratings surprisingly. It's summer--they're going to be lower. And that's awesome for MTV even if it's a large drop. We'll likely see if climb in Sept/Oct depending on who's still in the game.
What I don't get is if the challenge is mtv highest rated show then why don't they air it more whether it be repeats of the new episode/season or reruns of older seasons

Because they need to do 800 more episodes of ridiculousness.
Also, it's also important to note that every time for the exception of war of the worlds that got crazy promo that they introduce a cast with majority new face it take a hit compared to other seasons/shows at the time it aired.

Because they promised Ridiculousness at least 140 hours a week?
I do hope they realized that casting rookies from random shows from random countries isn't the way to go. I feel like knowing the rookies made me root for them but casting some random people from love island Germany isn't the way to go. We cant even find their shows with closed caption.
It did better than bloodlines and invasion premiered it will go up as more episode airs I don't see it getting close to the peak of the past two seasons based on the other MTV shows ratings airing right now.
Demos still being high is obviously great, but losing 1/3 of your viewership is really damn bad
the whole "international" thing they going with isn't great if theyre trying to pull viewers... don't know why production is not getting that through their heads

i also just think this "trilogy" idea is tired. the "themes" (rivals, ex's, seasons) make things more new and exciting and cause more drama. now it's just international reality tv all stars every season.
if they really do want this "Themed trilogy" concept make it one season individual, one pairs, one team. that one thing will change dynamics considerably season to season vs. the last like 6 seasons being pairs.
The agents theme has become so corny, it's almost embarrassing. It's very Nickelodeon feeling. There are too many randoms from shows people have no interest in and the viewers are probably going to complain about their accents unfortunately. This might be biased but most of the vets aren't appealing. They are annoying and tired. I don't see the ratings improving. Everyone has to be tired of this PG agents trash thing going on. I just hope ratings increase on the episodes with drama so they realize that's what we want and quit with the family friendly version we have now.
the ratings being down in the summer isn't shocking, but I don't know if they would improve much in a month from now. How many people are going to watch a month late into the game, when the rookies they may be interested are probably most likely gone and its the same old tired vets mixed with a few randoms? Idk.
not for anything, some schools are already in session, so those people are home for the rest of the summer. I would think the show has better chance ratings wise in august compared to if it premiered in july.
They actually did air the episode again at 10pm, and according to my cable, they will do it for episode 2 as well but not for 3. I always feel some type of way about them refusing to air repeats, because thats how I got into the show 20 years ago, watching it after school lol. But at this point, I'm not even shocked at how much MTV ruins everything they touch and fails to promote
Cable (especially MTV) as a whole is down so not shock the ratings took a hit compared to the past two seasons.
Still the highest rated show on MTV
660,000 can't be the correct number after last season never really dipped below 900,000 and they've been promoting the shit out of this season.
omgg that's so bad
Things are starting to open back up so I assume ratings won't by that high anymore

Oh so in other words that's good then. It's still number 1

Lmaoo let me hush because if episode two ratings drop I'll look like a clown

And if it's still around there in mid-September that might be a problem but it should climb

Any ratings for the Monday launch special?
I told yall Americans weren't interested in watching a culturally diverse show with unique accents lol.
Not sure why anyone from MTV/Production thought they would be in the first place
Airing at the same time as big brother took some of their viewers who def would of watched The Challenge if say it aired on a tuesday night.
And isn't Survivor 41 gonna be playing at the same time lol?!
i cant think of any other reason than budget

I don't understand why people think these ratings are bad.
It's not bad but it would be foolish for us not to recognize the drop
