Damn straight. I agree with this post.
Through ten episodes, Seasons is averaging 1.11 million with a 0.70 rating.
Remember past seasons have all been ten episodes.
To recap past average ratings:
Ruins: 1.61 million, 1.0
Fresh Meat 2: 1.19 million, 0.71
Cutthroat: 1.36 million, 0.77
Rivals: 1.82 million, 1.08
Yeah and tonight is up against 12/12/12 Concert, they're screwed
Maybe not. I mean the concert is four hours long, lmao.

Somewhat flawed because the finale usually sees an increase in viewership. It is better to just wait and see how this season does as a whole. BMP took a shot, and it didn't work out the way they had hoped. The casual viewer doesn't have a real rooting interest in this season, even if the hardcore fans like it. Rivals and Exes were great because it had a storyline and person that the casual viewer could root for in CT. This season doesn't have anyone for the casual viewer to root for.

This is flawed too considering, "the casual viewer" or -ers have double backed and watched many, if not all of the seasons that came before him thanks to YT and Bing. Just because you stan so hard for Rivals and Exes doesn't make it right.

The last sentence makes no sense at all, so I will just skip it. Please clarify what you mean.
The casual viewer was rooting for CT and Diem to get back together on Exes, and rooting for him to win. They didn't know that it was never going to happen, but it is okay because it was a storyline for them to root for. On Rivals, they were rooting for CT because they saw him as a changed person who was going through a difficult period of his life during the Duel 2 and people love redemption stories. It also helped that he was going against JEK + Wes.

Can't wait until the time when the ratings detection technology catches up with the digital era. I wonder how different the ratings distribution will appear if any.
Same here. I hate the current format, especially with things like DVR and On Demand.
I just hope we someday have a better alternative to the current Neilsen format.

Will never happen. The problem with DVR is that people just skip the commercials. The entire reason why TV ratings matter is because of the commercials. Advertisers want to know how many people are watching, so they know what to pay for a 30 second spot during that show. They also need to know who the demo is so they know if their product will appeal to the demo that watches the show.
It will be interesting to gauge the reaction from the general viewership when they see who wins, and see if that translates to even less viewers next season, should Frank be cast again.
I don't see the current system we have in place lasting forever. Eventually we'll get to a point where "virtually everyone" has access to DVR just like what's happening with high-speed internet in the US. At that point, commercials-based advertising will basically be dead. We will have to either move forward or back, making it mandatory to watch them (ala Hulu and how friggin annoying is that?) or just getting rid of them altogether and finding alternate ways to compensate studios (here's an idea... stop paying the "talent" ridiculous salaries far beyond the range of more important jobs like firefighters & cops... GASP!).

They will probably eliminate the fast foward function as time goes on, like how you cant fast-foward on demand network shows. Also they do measure how many people dvr a show and watch it within a certain timespan. If there are a bunch of people dvr the show because something else is on MTV knows about it, as they have to be able to sell the companies such as under armour who product place they true amount of eyeballs seeing their logo.
But promote Frank, Nany and Dustin being stupid?
They could have feeded off of last weeks episode which did rather well.
I'd say Frank, Nany, Dustin (and Marie) were out of control that episode, not stupid.

They won't cancel the show after 1 bad season. Rivals and Exes were successful enough with ratings for BMP to take a risk. This risk didn't work out, but the success of Rivals and Exes allowed them to take it without having to worry about cancellation.

I think BMP/MTV were looking towards the future as well, and the fact that the rookies couldn't keep the ratings at a decent clip doesn't bode well for the future. You can't keep JEK and CT around forever, but it seems like they just might be around as long possible. The rookies just don't have enough likeable characters to carry this franchise long term.

I disagree. If anything the current vets are just as unlikable as the rookies. Besides you can't expect viewers to be cool with the entire cast being new and different, you have to eas it on them. I definitely think people like Dustin, Nany, Marie, Emily, Frank, CJ, Jasmine, and Knight can carry the franchise long term.

Nah... I can actually tolerate JEK, but Frank and Zach are unbearable. You let those names that you dropped be the stars of this show and MTV would terminate the series in about three seasons.
Yeap I disliked JEK and their dominance, but least they were bearable. Frank & Zach are just horrible people! Well if I judge from the show alone. I stopped watching after Marie/Robb went home (I like Robb and LOVE Marie). I'm still rooting for Devyn, but I really don't care in watching, because I'm literally to the point I can't even watch Franks and Zach faces anymore.

If you want the show canceled why would you join a message board where the Challenge is its predominant topic.

He can still have an opinion lol. The challenge is in trouble and a lot of people would like it to stop, even long time fans of the show.. I'm not one of them, but they even I will admit they are well passed their glory days.

Since about nine seasons ago, from The Inferno III up until Cutthroat something was lacking although there were some good moments here and there. But hey, I still don't want it to come to an end (It will someday).
(Adrian!!! I was only joking btw.)
If the challenge is indeed cancel I want the producers to have an awesome cast why not end it with a bang. Just saying
If they were gonna do that they would do it to save the series. But an awesome cast is exactly what they need.

:shifty: :smoke:
Need more Kenny, Johnny, Derrick, CT, Jenn, Kelly Anne, Susie, Ev (Although I know Ev is "retired"), ect.....we need the real vets that everyone knows mixed in with these newbies. Too many new people on this Challenge that I don't think people know or care to know.

Doesnt really look like a bright future if these people will carry the franchise. 7 of the 8 people has participate on this challenge and it gets really poor ratings.
However, I think the preshow boot of team Sydney triggered a massive chain reaction that cursed this season.
In the first 3-4 episodes the wrong people were in the spotlight (Fresh meat), people who had been there already and not the new rookies and I think this turned a lot of people of. You cant have a rookie revolution if only Wes/Alton/Sarah were the only real veterans in the house. This storyline didnt really click.
After that BMP/MTV did a poor job of protecting the new breed or give them a character that the people could connect with. Beside Dustin/Chet of the new people, none of these people had a character that was not alcohol involved or segments where they didnt look bad. You cant have a season just with villains. If you analyse all the drama in the house, you would probably understand Alton.
