Yayyy The Challenge topped the week. I doubt anything on Thursday did better than that.
I so see Real World and The Challenge getting renewed. Dispute what the hater above thinks, people still watch the real world. Including the haters whether they like the direction of the show or not. The network is suffering but those 2 shows still manage to come out on top even with like no promotion. The fanbase is real!
Well a show just got picked up on MTV, its a reality show with Tyga. I wonder if it will replace eyecandy. MTV will never learn, another flop, I can sense it.
If the do cancel rw, to me it would look like MTV is beyond repair since they had to cancel a show that they have had on for years. That's how I look at it, as bad publicitylol
I know some of the MTV head honchos aren't happy with the ratings but looking at Explosion and Skeletons ratings should tell them they'll get the ratings they want if they started the twist in the beginning instead of trying to hold out. If you are doing a twist that is obviously what people come to see.
I think both The Real World and The Challenge will be over a million next week. The Challenge is pulling in lower numbers but it's also on at a later time.
Tuesday was the perfect storm at 9 and 10 PM EST both for MTV and other the other non-broadcast nets, too, thanks to the SOTU overrun and the boring network "news" analyses that followed. Hopefully, a bunch of those new viewers will watch next week as well.

It was the best episode yet, so I can see most of the viewers sticking with this.
All I got to say is that this season of TRW deserves these "good" ratings so far in comparising to the Challenge. I think TRW is better TV right now than the Challenge and also was last season when the Exes came in.
The challenge just feels very lackluster right now. Nothing really happens that can get viewers attention in a big way. (Minus the CT/Diem tragedy, Averey/Johnny R drama , FA finals and the Wall-elimination round with Jordan/Bananas)
So as much as it pains me to say it, I get why MTV execs are not happy with The Challenge right now and want to keep TRW rather than the Challenge or are they really just not happy with TRW and TheChallenge because of those "low" numbers.

This season of the Challenge is good but I get what you are saying. Last season was terrible!
Rivals II drew people in. Every week was intense and every week was a different sorry. Where as now, they carry stories out and its kinda making things not interesting and less people are getting screentime. Rivals and Rivals 2 have been the most interesting challenges in this new era they are taking on. Those challenges keep people interested. They need to find that flare again. And its definitely not with a co-ed Rivals. To me same-sex pairs cause more drama for some reason. Bigger competition verses co-ed pairs.

I agree about Rivals being one of the best seasons of this era, but I found Rivals 2 really disappointing. The missions were awful, the eliminations were awful and the drama wasn't even that interesting.

Agreed. Rivals 2 was a monstrosity and had few bright spots like Jordan/Marlon, Aneesa/Trishelle.
I'm enjoying this season of Real World. The last episode was one of the funniest I have seen in years. The challenge, I am struggling with for a few reasons. One I just don't like the comeptions we get with male/female pairings. The biggest reason though is I am bummed out about Diem and Knight and it just makes it a struggle for me to watch.
Also, I don't like or understand why they are showing both shows at once. I like the idea of having the show spread out over the year. Now I feel like I will probably have to wait 10 months before I see another challenge or RW when these are done.
Well in my younger days I did enjoy MTV more but I was def in their target demo at that time. While I dont think I would watch it as much as I used to anyway, I have to agree that they overplay Ridiculousness something fierce. I assumed the ratings must be through the roof for them to do that, it's like the channels default state of being.
Idk if this is the right place or if it has already been said but I am really enjoying this cast... I think this is one of the most interesting seasons in some time.

Rivals better than Rival 2? You're straight up tripping boo. The eliminations may have been awful but it was consistent all the way through and got a dvd release...unlike garbage *** Rivals. I liked the four way fight but before that once Royer was gone it went to shit.
I hope we hear soon whether or not there will be another season of the show. I think people are slowly warming up to the show's new format and the time slot isn't quite bad either. The only thing I ask if we get a new season is less recruiting and a new city.

Completely agree with this. BMP needs to realize casting actual authentic viewers with promising stories and diversity isv the route to go. And a new city for sure. Hopefully on the east coast they haven't been to the east since Brooklynn

Nashville, Scottsdale/Phoenix, Atlanta, or Salt Lake City.
I'd love to see a Phoenix season, but a Montreal season would also be interesting.
If I get cast (which probably wont happen) i really hope it's not SLC because that would create a serious case of Priscilla Syndrome (if it films before my birthday).

SLC is one of those that gets thrown around a lot but never happens (it was scouted during the St Thomas/Portland timeframe iirc).

Not really. Everything that begins must end.

Nice increase for Real World, best ratings for MTV on the past 4 months other than Awkward season finale.

Nice. The older folk that were watching are jumping ship though lol.

Yeah I doubt slc would want to considering all the drinking on the show.
