Oh I am a Ryan fan well enough. I just think he is an interesting person who has both good and bad sides. I don't think acknowledging that someone is less than perfect detracts from the good.
His talents are too evident for anyone or anything to detract from them.
Ryan's small foibles make him wonderfully delightful. His strengths make him truly awe inspiring.

I think what you see as "small foibles" others see as serious issues and flaws, but at either rate, he is interesting and what I would say are serious flaws actually make him more interesting. I think on balance his is both talented and strong, and a poser.
Would that we all aspired to be like Ryan. The world would be a better place.
I think we should all make shirts: "What Would Ryan A. Conklin Do?"
Well his fellow soldiers think differently
"I have a buddy who's brother is in the Army, and he said that Ryan told all of the soldiers that he wanted to make the show dramatic, and he knew the whole time he was there that he was called back, so this was like a vacation for him before he went back to serve. I had a feeling he was doing that, and so did a lot of people during that season, especially given the terrible acting by him, and his brother.
Also a lot of soldiers were upset with the fact that all of Ryan's soldier friends that appeared on the show, made it seem like he was a "Jean Claude Van Damn Super Soldiers" (there words not mine), and that really pissed off a lot of people, cause he was scared like the rest of them, and nobody was a "special invincible" soldier, like everyone made Ryan out to be.
There's more to this, and his brother said, nobody hates the guy, and they're all brothers since they're soldiers, but he rubbed people the wrong way in his 2nd tour of duty, and should have kept all of this stuff to himself, cause nobody really looked at him the same.
Obviously everyone will think im lying, but i don't care, believe me or don't believe me, it's not really a big deal. I lost a tiny bit of respect for the guy, but still respect him cause he's a soldier. But nobody liked how he took that whole scene in that episode and turned it into a pathetic, fake scene of someone desperate for attention (his words not mine)
Obviously he's a soldier, and you have to respect him for that, no matter what, but I do think it's low for someone to do that, and a bit of a slap in the face. Im sure some will disagree, but this is coming from actual soldiers, not random people."
Is that why you dislike Ryan so much. I've seen you say negative things about him before and wondered why.
Whatever, I didn't see any terrible acting, I was extremely touched, but what do I know?

I was wondering the same thing, and thats why I asked for source.

Because people think he's a freaking GOD just because he made a few jokes and is in the military. I understand people have their favorites from each show but to say things like this world would be a better place if we all were like Ryan Conklin is just insane. The guy was one of the most cruel people on this show, he was just subtle with it and did it in a funny way but he was so so cruel.
And i'll post the source in a minute, brb.

All though against popular opinion. I totally agree. He was not one of my favorites, especially because of how he reacted to and treated Katelynn out of the gate.

You didn't pick up that we might have been going over the top just an eency-weency bit....on purpose? To be silly?

Nope you guys sounded serious to me. And here's the original post: IMDb :: Boards :: "The Real World" (1992) :: Ryan From TRW Brooklyn Lied About Going...
Everybody has their favorites, so who gives a crap who people like and for what reasons.
I enjoyed Ryan a lot because I haven't enjoyed the last few seasons of the real world. I didn't outright dislike anyone on Brooklyn, and I can't say the same for any other season. No, I don't think he's a god, but if people don't like him, thats their choice. Why do people continue to question other people on who they like and make a big deal out of it?
Everybody has different opinions.
IMBD? A reliable source?

First of all, you obviously have to turn your humor meter up. Second, that article was just posted a few hours ago. So....either you or someone you know wrote it, or you were actively searching for something on him that would "show us" and you just happened to find it right away! So either way, congrats....

Nope, didn't write it and i do not know who that person is. Believe it or not, i don't care. Love the guy all you want, i don't care. I visit that board all the time, don't have to search for anything. And i have a sense of humor, you guys just weren't funny.

I think were HIGHlariousss.
I think we should all make shirts: "What Would Ryan A. Conklin Do?"
I already ask myself that sometimes when I feel discouraged about something and I think about the sacrifices he volunteered to make for our country and then my situation doesn't seem so bad. I also play in my mind the admonition he once intended for Baya: "Work! Harder!" It gives me a little extra oomph to keep going.
The funny thing is that on his Twitter, he said he asks himself, "What would Fred Savage do?" So indirectly I'm getting my inspiration from Fred Savage??? I hope Ryan was joking. No offense to Fred.
Has there ever been a beloved figure that people don't try to tear down? No one is liked by everyone and that's okay, but my belief is that the particularly strident criticisms are feckless nonsense.
I found the stuff funny, whatever. Everyone has a different opinion about things and people which is good. Who wants everyone thinking the same, you know. Even though I am very happy there is a decent amount of people here on vevmo that like Ryan, like me.

I think its funny that people get so hostile about a cast member especially when challenges air. Not necessarily Ryan, but other cast members. Its just a TV show, they didn't murder puppies.
Lol, I know, people get so extreme. You would think the real world was about 7 or 8 murderers brought to live in house together lol. People become so angry.

*****..I crack up when people post that other cast members should get banned from a show. Really though? Over a challenge? Over strategizing?
Anyways, now I wonder what Chet was talking about awhile ago on twitter, when he said he would see Ryan. I haven't seen any indications of him being home, or him coming home.

I cannot believe that there are rumors erupting that Ryan faked going to war. That is just ridiculous.
Is this a very recent video? I think it's crazy how people spread those rumors. I think more people should start to appreciate Ryan, because he is doing a great deal for his country.
This is a very nice video. It is kind of emotional and now I really miss the Brooklyn cast.
I refer to the recent video as additional evidence that I am correct in my assertion that Ryan is awesome. He hates being called a "hero", but nevertheless, he's my hero.
