If nothing else I am sure they are good friends and probably just taking it day by day, given his deployment and all. But I want them to get married someday and have babies. :D
Me too. :)
from her twitters, they seem together. maybe not exclusive i love you and were getting married and having babies together. maybe they are taking it slow and waiting til he comes home to see where it goes.
Are they still together? I hope they are, but on Ryan's Twitter a few weeks ago he mentioned that Baya had sent him a book on "sweet 'staches" and how she knows the way to his heart, but then last week Baya posted on her Twitter something about being single. :unknw:
I read on their myspaces a month back (I didn't get around to posting this, sorry) and their status both said single...
I read on their myspaces a month back (I didn't get around to posting this, sorry) and their status both said single...
LOL, I doubt that means anything. I know tons of people who are in relationships and don't even change their myspace. Mine has said single for like 2 years and I've only been single for like four months. Plus they didn't even say were in a relationship yet.

Anyone reading Ryan's tweets lately? I think he is coming home, and Chet tweeted to him "I'll see you next Tuesday boo." OMG!

OMG!
I saw that too I wonder if they were just joking around or maybe Ryan is taking his 2 weeks leave soon. (That's usually how much time they get when deployed for a year)

I'm not sure what the tweet after it exactly means.

I think his contract is probably up and they give them the choice to re-up or not (and usually for a significant amount of money if you re-up while overseas), so I'm sure his answer is "hell no". LoL, if he does up and get to get out of there early I will be really happy for him but they DAMN well better send my love home early too!!

I'm not an Army person, but I believe enlistments are for 8 years. Ryan did early enlistment when he was 17 but didn't start basic training until 9/11/03. That would technically push him out to 2011. He said that when he was in the IRR the Army had until 9/10/10 to recall him, presumably because there would need to be a minimum of one year of service yet available. So I don't see that anything can get him out of the Army for awhile yet. Also, Secretary Gates just stated today that the Army will be increasing in size by up to 22,000 temporarily for three years. That doesn't sound like they will be letting people go before their enlistments are up. My belief is that Ryan wondered (but we know now not really) about remaining longer in the Army than his initial enlistment, like as a career. His answer was that he would not stay longer than his initial enlistment. If Ryan is actually coming home on leave, that's great. However, my second thought was wondering if Chet was talking about seeing Ryan on television in the new special on Tuesday, July 28th. Isn't there a special on MTV's schedule that night? I assume all of his friends would be excited to see Ryan if he were to return home on leave, and even more so, his family. I feel sad for Mr. & Mrs. Conklin with both of their sons in Iraq.

Way to rain on our parade, Indy... ;)
Way to rain on our parade, Indy... ;)
... but on the other hand, I wish it were other than what I wrote. I hope it is no more than the minimum previously stated, 9 to 10 months. I was thinking that his book was tentatively scheduled to be released in February, 2010, because of the assumption he would be back in the States by that time to promote it.

Wait, his book is getting released? And where does it say that the special on him is playing on MTV?
The working title of Ryan's book is An Angel from Hell: A Screaming Eagle’s Story of Modern War. Ryan’s literary agent made the deal with the Berkley imprint of the Penguin publishing group, to be part of their Caliber line of military books. I don't know when the special is being aired, but I wondered if it would be on the 28th because Chet said he would "see" Ryan on that date and because there is a generic "special" listing on MTV that night.

Hmmm...interesting. I'm buying Ryan's book! I wonder if it has anything about his experience on the RW in it.

I am sure some might have 8, but thats massive. I have never heard of such. I dont know how it works exactly, im sure its diff for many people, but in my Brothers case (he was in the same brach.field.etc as Ryan actually) it was a 4 year contract, he got out but they had one year to recall him if needed. They didnt, the year passed, and he is not bound at all.
looks like Ryan moved up in rank and just got promoted to sergeant! Browsing Search Results for ryan conklin // BlogCatalog

On an army.mil site it says "Every person who joins the Army incurs a statutory Military Service Obligation. Most incur an 8 year Military Service Obligation which is part of the Soldier's original contract. Soldiers typically serve two to four years on active duty, then are transferred to the Reserve to fulfill the remainder of their obligation." As seen with Ryan, they can pull you back and keep you within the 8 years. I also saw that during a 1 year deployment, a 2 week leave is allowed after 6 months. I don't know how hard and fast that rule is. Here is a link.

That is what OPD and I were talking about.
Watching the cretins on Real World Cancun really makes me miss Ryan. He is definitely one of my all time favorite cast members of the RW, ever. I hope that he is safe and doing well in the Army!

I like the cast, I just can't get into the season. If Denver or Sydney aired before Cancun, I think it would have been different. Ryan is a star, and I really do miss seeing on him on my tv.

Ryan is a squirt of honey mustard in the hoagie of my life. I hope he has a public meet and greet soon after he returns to civilian life. What I think would be really, really cool would be a guided walking tour led by Ryan around Gettysburg or the battlefield. He could pick up some quick cash giving tours to paying fans and it would always be a chance for him to go home and see his momma.
