Great the first episode since I joined the boards that people actually praise..and I havent seen it..hurry up ********
There was a little drama injected this week and I liked it. Seeing Kenny Vs. Wes in full swing or at least getting warmed up was nice. So I was glad Sarah/Vinni went home in a way.
Danny is so dense. How did he think throwing in CJ vs Kenny would be a good idea? That has zero logic. No wonder this doofus always loses. Ev, for once, had me aggreeing with her. Sarah is beyond annoying & I am glad Katelynn & Ev were able to basically shut her up. I am releived she is gone but damn, I really wish Vinny didn't have to leave with her. Jillian sitting out was a little out of character for her. I was kinda shocked but it did seem a bit strategic. I don't think we will see that happen again. I love Kenny squirming. Nothing was better than seeing him and that obnoxious partner of his struggle thru the Exile. I hope that took a physical toll on both of them that will affect the rest of their performance in the game.
This episode showed Evelyn as the bad seed, Wes seemed reluctant at first to throw Kenny in. Whoever is in control is going to look like the ******* on these shows and knowing that I can't side with either Wes or Kenny, they're both the same to me.
"She made some good points" "She didn't make good points, she's right" Ouch Danny.
I see your point. I wish he would do a challenge but not sure if thats his thing or not - oh well. By the way Kate, what is your opinion of Danny? Everyone here hates him and for the life of me I don't understand why. I'd like the opinion of someone who has done a show with him (and you are the only one who posts here! haha)
I genuinely like him! First off, he was there when we wrapped production on Brooklyn and he gave me some (believe it or not) sagely advice on how to deal with life post-TRW. Also, we bonded quite a bit on the show because he's married and I'm engaged so when all the kids were playing their reindeer games we were kind of relegated to the sidelines. I know some people find him irritating, and just from the dailies I can see why, but in person I promise he doesn't grate the nerves... at least that's my humble opinion, YMMV.
LMAO, these guys can't even walk up a mountain with 90 pounds on their back... talk about weak.
LMAO, these guys can't even walk up a mountain with 90 pounds on their back... talk about weak.
Please tell me you are joking.
I'm with Townie, that isn't a lot of weight, for only like a mile though..
I'm with Townie, that isn't a lot of weight, for only like a mile though..
Wow. Okay, living in Montana I do a bit of hiking. Hiking up a steep mountain as it is, is a tiring endeavor. To put things into perspective, most Army basic training packs I believe are only 60lbs. 90lbs is extreme for any normal hike, let alone hiking up a steep-*** mountain (the crews themselves opted to take ATVs and Jeeps). It's no short order, and unless you've prepared expressly for that type of event, it is extremely daunting.

I know people who do sports like wrestling and football run carrying weights and stuff like that I'd imagine to those sports players, 90lbs isn't a crazy amount. I would assume that after the first FM airing where teams like Derrick and Diem had to carry around 100lbs each people might train to do something crazy like that. How long did an exile take? If it was over 1-2 hours, 90lbs would wear someone out, even people trained for it but if it was 45+/- minutes I personally don't think it'd be that hard. I could be wrong but I'm not about to run around my hills with 100 lbs on my back for fun.
When I saw Carley getting out of the shower part, I was thinking to myself, "Is that Andrew from DC in a wig?"

I mean, according to some people you'd have to be a frail Betty White to not be able to do that... Look at the times from the exiles: 1 hour, 42 minutes, to almost 2 hours. Sure, the first 30 or even 45 minutes would be testing, but after that hour mark you'd be surprised how quickly your body says "screw you, I'm going home..."

When I posted my last post, I thought it was a backpack with 90lbs, like how Darrell and Cara Maria had it. I don't know if it'd be harder with buckets or not cause yes they swing around but at some points I would have just dragged it. Do you know if there were rules against that? Also, Kenny and Laurel's time was 1:20 and Sarah and Vinny being 1:25. I'm not about to go run around with 90lbs on my back unless I'm getting payed for it. Also, after seeing this episode, I like Vinny a little bit more cause he was a good loser and he told Ev to "get the **** out". And I hate Wes a little bit more cause the only thing that ****** me off more then an arrogant attitude is when people laugh at you like a child.

I was to kind of skeptical about the rules of the exiles as well. I was wondering if they could have put all the weight into one of the poles and buckets, carried it together, each grabbing one side to carry.
You can hate Wes more then you actually do? I was to kind of skeptical about the rules of the exiles as well.
Please tell me you are joking.
These guys had trouble even getting it on their back and getting going at the very beginning of the exile. It's like they've never had a barbell across their shoulders before. I think about 95% of the people that do these challenges don't even do freeweight barbell squats when they train for them. Because if they had, there is no way you are struggling that bad with just 90 pounds if you are a 200 pound guy.
Sorry but you guys are nuts - these are 90lb bags, in swinging buckets, being hoisted on their shoulder, climbing up (not up and down, UP) the side of a mountain. That is no joke and if you think its easy then by all means go out and try it. All four competitors were very athletic and it looked like it took soooo much out of them. Remember that some challenges are not as easy as they look.
I cannot believe I am about to say this - but I am starting to warm up to Kenny (somebody slap me!!). Sure he's still arrogant and stuck on himself but he's not nearly as annoying without Evan around. I'm actually starting to root for him - but then again that maybe because I loathe Wes so much. Seriously that guy is like an overgrown child who was born with a severe case of the *******! I've gotta say that some of my favorites disappointed me. I never figured that Jill would be a quitter, as athletic and competitive as she is. I think had Frank been there, she wouldn't have quit like that. Also, Lando what the hell were you thinking? Why the hell would you make a deal with Raggedy Andy (ie Wes). I hope he doesnt stick with that alliance - he is better than that. Paula has the best one liners this season - hands down! I usually loathe her as well but this time I find her highly entertaining. Wes - you have not hooked up with two of the hottest girls in the house (Theresa and KA), you hooked up with two of the easiest. Unfortunately neither of these girls are easy on the eyes. I adore both Katelynn and Evelyn - but man would I love to see a Kate vs Ev showdown - that would be freakin epic!!
Lando what the hell were you thinking? Why the hell would you make a deal with Raggedy Andy (ie Wes). I hope he doesnt stick with that alliance - he is better than that.
I think he's remembering his elimination from the Duel II, and doesn't want to be in that position again. If he's not in, he's out, and he wants to win. I don't think he's keen on staying in alliance with Wes; it will just protect him until some of the other players are down.
I can't blame Landon either. On Duel 2 he laid back and competed legitimately and was just used as a pawn by the power players to get the voting to break down in their favor. The first chance they had to throw him to the wolves, they did. I think the same thing would've happened had he taken that approach on this season as well, especially since Kenny and Evan play the game in similar fashions as far as turning on people for what helps their cause. I think Wes would be more up front and honest with Landon about what was going on as far as his intentions than Kenny would be.

Where the hell does Sarah get off acting all big and bad? She's only made it through ONE challenge and she didn't even win Wheras Ev made it on 2 challenges and WON. So Sarah has no right to be so cocky. Glad she lost...But too bad Vinny had to go with her. And I don't see what Wes is doing that makes people on this board despise him. And can I say that it feel so GOOD to see Kenny feel powerless and squirm a bit. And once again I also feel that he's a hypocrite too. He talks about how bad Wes supposedly is being on this challenge and throwing friends against each other but yet he does the EXACT SAME THING and he acts the EXACT SAME WAY so he doesn't get to be pissy at Wes In my eyes. Oh and where was that footage of Katelynn and telling off Sarah? Why didn't they show that?
I think at this point, Landon went with the lesser of the 2 evils in his mind.
Yeah but what I think is strange is that Landon would be lower on the totem pole with Wes. Either way, both Wes and Kenny are idiots if they allow Landon to get to a final. Might as well give him the money now...
My best friend is in the army and I asked him how much weight he carries around and if it is a lot and he said that it's not as heavy/bad as everyone thinks but he carries it for a long time, a lot longer then an exile would last.
My husband is in the army, and what they carry is very heavy. And I have learned that soldiers will downplay how hard things are a lot of time because it gets harder to do it when you focus on the difficulty. I don't take a thing my husband or any of his army buddies say at face value- they like to spare those of us at home from the unpleasant details. But, their stuff is made to be carried, so it's way easier. I am a lazy b****, I have actually skipped class before because the evalator was out of order and I didn't want to walk up the stairs. But when he puts the pack on me, I can make it, because it's made to help you carry the weight. They were balancing a bar with swinging weights up a mountain...totally different story!
When I saw Carley getting out of the shower part, I was thinking to myself, "Is that Andrew from DC in a wig?"
I thought the same thing lol, and it was cool to see her kick *** in the challenge. Another great episode, I loved the scheming and campaigning for votes segment. Paula was funny again. What happened to Landon's head? He looked like muscled-up Gorbachev. Theresa: hottest in the house? Really? Most desperate maybe. Can't wait to see what Kenny will do to get back in control again, Wes breaking his promise will surely be used as leverage here, "Wes - you can't trust him. Vote for Kenny"
"Wes - you can't trust him. Vote for Kenny"
LOL You typed that as if they were running for president.
What promise did Wes make? According to the little Backstage Pass snippets, he said they just had an agreement not to put each other up against certain people. Finally saw the episode! Some thoughts: 1) I wonder if being on the "got screwed over" side of the fence will make Kenny change how he plays the game in future challenges. 2) I love that this challenge is FINALLY going down differently! It's being played the smart way, by eliminating the stronger players as quickly as possible. 3) So glad that Wes recognizes the fact that Evelyn knows how to strategize. Yes, it's a risky, ballsy move, but this game takes some calculated risk. 4) For all you people who say that climbing UP a mountain, at a high elevation with thin air, with a MINUMUM of 90 pounds (he might have had more before the first puzzle) swinging from buckets, looks easy...first go walk with a 90-pound bar on your shoulders. Then hike with it. And then understand that what they did was STILL harder. Even though Kenny and Laurel won, they're probably at a huge disadvantage for the next challenge because that has GOT to be killer on your back and shoulders. Basically...LOVE LOVE LOVE this! I love that there is no one set "Alliance," and the way the game is, no one is completely safe. Plus the Exiles look hard as hell! Although again...could you imagine some tiny girl like Sandy having to carry that much weight? I really think they should make some part of the weight-carrying based on the challenger's own body weight.
I do have to say that I find myself loving this challenge more than I expected! As Bacchus pointed out, I love that it's not one-sided. I have also not read any spoilers for this season, so I am enjoying not knowing for once! I like some of the new competitors, and seeing who ends up on different alliances. I love Katelynn on this challenge, and I imagine it must have been hard that Sarah appears to have expected her to follow Sarah's lead on game moves. Katelynn- just curious, do you feel that this was the case, or is that something the editing of the show led me to? (I have to say, since I have avoided spoilers, I have also not watched dailies this season. But I plan to watch the ones mentioned in this thread when I get home today- so I am asking with no knowledge beyond the episode's edit)
