IMO Mtv needs to try to revamp Jersey Shore with a new cast, get Real World and The Challenge a better time slot, and stop with the cheesy scripted shows. Eye Candy looks terrible, Victoria Justice is just not the best actress, I feel like she plays the same role on every tv show she's on. I think that Mtv would strive if they have more trashy reality TV lol. Bring back those interesting 30 minutes reality shows like "sweet sixteen" and "when I was 17". Those are the shows that stand out to me when I think MTV.

Unfortunately for us Susanne doesnt want MTV to have the trashy reality shows anymore. MTV has to move beyond that now.
Here's a list of the new shows coming to MTV in 2015:
Eye Candy
Shannara
Scream
One Bad Choice
Beyond Dance
Todrick
Broke *** Game Show
The only one that looks interesting and that I'll deff watch is Scream.
According to the MTV press sites and advertising sites these only the only new TV series they ordered for 2015. Of course they will be ordering more in the coming months!

Its really sad seeing a 50 year old woman trying to please a young adult audience. People my age 14-21 want to watch funny trashy tv. It's what we grew up with, it's what we like. The fact that she's trying to give us "comedy scripted shows" like wtf. Awkward was good. But then "Faking It" looks horrible and "Teen Wolf" became terrible after the 2nd season.
MTV president Susanne Daniels is probably happy about these low ratings for Skeletons since she said she wanted to cancel the Real World ever since she arrived but she couldnt due to Ex-Plosion's solid ratings. She is not a fan of The Real World and the Teen Mom shows. Susanne will only renew this show once she sees the ratings for the rest of the season. At least she is trying to move the network in a new direction. So far IMO she is doing a good job by ordering shows like Beyond Dance, One Bad Choice, Eye Candy, Scream and Shannara.
That witch, if she cancels Real World and The Challenge they will lose on loyal viewer.
Exactly. They're going to lose alot of viewers who watch The Real World/Challenges if she gets rid of them. MTV is not going to be able to compete with other networks. She needs to be trying to keep the franchise going because nothing else on the network really has the viewers and pull that Those shows do(Excpet for maybe Teen Mom). Even with the low ratings.

Faking It is not horrible.. trust me... I thought it would be, but i actually love it! Binged watched S1 & 2 recently. It's got a few cliched moments, but I liked the way in which they presented storylines. Try it out!
Susanne Daniels should've stayed her *** at the Lifetime network that she used to run. She was responsible for shows like Strong Medicine, The Division, 1-800-Missing, Any Day Now, Against the Wall, Monarch Cove, Side Order of Life, Angela's Eyes, For the People, Rita Rocks, Sherri, Blood Ties, The Protector, Drop Dead Diva, Wild Card, Army Wives and etc during that networks' heyday.
I mostly don't want RW to be cancelled, I want it to end if that makes sense. Like, it should be promoted as being the final season and then end as such. It would be sad if it just got cancelled after all these years.

Can I see that where she said that? Normally, as a president she shouldn't talk about something she wants to cancel. That would be a pretty dumb move as a president, especially since she doesn't really have the last control over the programm as the stakeholders have if I'm not mistaken.
That's the only interviews I found with her where she talks about The Real World and it doesn't really look bad to me.
I think she basically said she came into it thinking that RW was long in the tooth and probably didn't much life in it, but with the Ex-Plosion it breathed new life and she could see it going for much longer
Actually Daniels said she wanted to cancel it initially, but Ex-Plosion renewed her faith. She knows she needs big budget shows with AMC, FX, A&E, and HBO level ratings. Eye Candy and Scream are easy wins if done right, and I've read she was ruthless in her pitch for Shannara, like she wanted that show on the network ASAP, to the point it was able bypass the pilot stage and went from script to series order in a matter of months. It is a very high profile show right now and casting has been pulling in names from shows like Arrow, Spartacus, and Downton Abbey.

ew someone needs to exterminate that hoe
***** I like you. Real World is the only show I watch on MTV anymore (apart from an occasional episode of Catfish or Teen Mom). Now all they do is make shitty scripted shows and air that show with Chanel West Coast and the grown man that dresses like a 14 year old boy.
I love Real World, and miss shows like Parental Control and Next. THATS what MTV has (had) going for it.
I agree Nicole/Tony are both not entertaining but definitely not wallpaper like some people were on Explosion/Portland/St.Thomas, I think Sylvia is trying way too hard to be something she's definitely not,Bruno is very hot but his personality is a total turn off, Jason is honestly cute to me his personality seals it, he is entertaining which can come off as forced but still watchable, Violetta is entertaining but it's not real world entertaining kind of like BGC
Besides Joi there were no wallpapers on either StT or Portland. I wish people would explain that mess.

This simply is not true regarding RW. Susanne did a couple of early interviews where she was not positive about RW in recent seasons, but she gave her team a challenge to shake up the show and fix the ratings. After last season, she said she had changed her opinion and thought the season was good (I disagreed with her, but that is irrelevant for purposes here). I expect to have an opportunity to talk to her in a social setting early in the new year, and I'll report anything she has to say about RW and the challenges.

Lmao who the **** thought somebody like her would be a good fit for MTV anywhere, let alone have the president position. She should've went to WeTV or The Hallmark Channel or something, tf?
These people are SO clueless when it comes to what they think people want to see. Her, John Murray, Justin Booth, etc. all of them.

She is not a witch, and the assertion above to which you responded is simply not accurate.
Frankly, some at MTV Networks and Viacom think RW should have ended, but Susanne has been fighting the good fight to keep it going, season to season (although current ratings will not help her).
No need for the misplaced vitriol in this thread. In fact, it would be smart for more people to be supportive of her. Personally, I think she is a very talented exec, but I agree with the execs at Viacom who would rather see MTV move in a new direction.

Happy Holidays everyone.
Merry Christmas all!
It seems like their only option is to get rid of this show, really. The Real World is no longer interesting and innovative, it's mundane and repetitive. It's not bringing in ratings, it's been on its last leg for a while (prior to Ex-plosion); time to take it out back and put it to rest.
She talked about the show in Variety Magazine, to advertisers and reproters at press events/conferences months ago. I just hope the ratings for Skeletons dont effect her judgment. We still dont know the DVR and online numbers for the firsst 2 episodes of Skeletons since she said that's what really determines how she and the network renews shows. We just have to wait and see. The DVR viewings/online viewings is what got many MTV shows renewed. It's not all about watching live anymore. Why is everyone giving Susanne such a hard time? At least she is trying to fix the show each season intead of just putting it out to pasture. Ex-Plosion renewed her faith in the show. Hopefully Skeletons keeps that trend with is DVR/online viewings! She did an excellent job at running Lifetime and created alot of hit shows during that networks' past. I can ssee why MTV brought someone as talented a her. She has always been good at running the networks she is in charge at. I love that she's taking risks with show like Eye Candy, Scream and Shannara. Ever since Susanne Daniels left Lifetime to run MTV the ratings for Lifetime have been going down. One of my favorite shows 'Witches of East End' got cancelled. I'm surprised Lifetime hasnt tried to get her back because right now that network also has lousy ratings. I believe the ratings for Skeletons will improve once the Skeletons finally show up. I still think they should've premiered the show in January around the same time Ex-Plosion debuted. December is not a good launchpad for an MTV reality show unless it is Teen Mom, Ridiculousness or Catfish. BTW why does MTV keep airing countless marathons of Ridiculousness, Jersey Shore and Catfish every damn week? Those are not the only shows MTV airs. MTV should be airing repeats of Skeletons everyday. I dont know why they never air marathons of The Real World or The Challenge!
In you folks' opinion if the DVR numbers and online views for Skeletons turn out to be shit throughout the entire seasonwhat do you think Susanne Daniels and the execs at MTV, Viacom and Bunnim/Murray should consider about the future of The Real World?
I don't know if anyone follows the MTV or MTV Eye Candy instagram pages, but the promotion for that show has been awesome!! I hope it pulls in great ratings and they advertise RW and BOTExes II pretty heavily.
In you folks' opinion if the DVR numbers and online views for Skeletons turn out to be shit throughout the entire seasonwhat do you think Susanne Daniels and the execs at MTV, Viacom and Bunnim/Murray should consider about the future of The Real World?
Online viewers mean nothing because they are of no value to advertisers. While they may represent "feel good" numbers to some, it is the real time and DVR viewers that count when it comes to executives keeping their jobs. If the advertisers don't think the show is worth paying premium rates for the show in prime time, then it's an easy call for Daniels. She is supposed to be making money for VIACOM's stockholders (Like me). In the last report, advertising revenues for the media networks was down slightly and reported expenses were up. Of course, anyone can buy a single share of Viacom stock and attend the Viacom’s 2015 Annual Meeting of Stockholders which should be held in March at Paramount Pictures in Hollywood, California, when you can express your opinions to the execs. Bunim Murray only plays in the future of RW IF Daniels wants to engage them in a discussion about how to fix the show/ratings, otherwise, they are simply another outside contractor who isn't delivering a quality product.
[I'm always curious about where people think viewers will actually come from who aren't presently watching a show. It's not like people are sitting around doing nothing waiting for peers to tell them what to watch... All the social science research tells us that it's rare for shows to pick up significant numbers of viewers if there is not an immediate positive media reaction to the first episode. There was no such reaction to RW. In fact, the NY Reunion received far more media attention than did RW: Skeletons. As some have mentioned, the absence of the "skeletons" actually not yet being on the show may hurt, but it's likely that the potential 1 million available RW viewers who didn't show up for the first two episodes were not aware of whether or not the entire cast would in the first episodes. Those potential viewers are not likely to show up now. Viewers don't come from thin air. "Better" later episodes are, frankly, of little value. It would also not be unreasonable to consider that the absence of the "skeletons" actually is partly responsible (along with the holidays) for the reduction of viewers from ep 1 to ep 2. In every show I've been involved in, I did my best to ensure that, in addition to pre-show ad videos, the first couple of episodes were tightly edited and packed with what the audience wanted to see: sex, drama, and great visuals. ]
I personally don't see anything wrong with the show. I just think it's ran way past it's expiration date and people don't find it interesting since there are a million other reality tv shows now like the real world. If it wasn't for The Challenge, i'm sure this show would've been dropped ages ago.
I think they need to either find a twist that doesn't involve bringing in new people or a twist where the secondary cast and original cast move in at the same time. The way they promoted Explosion and Skeletons people probably don't care to watch the show from the start because it only looks like it will get interesting once the people from their past arrive. When Explosion was airing and I was telling people about the show they would ask me have the Exes moved in yet and if they haven't notify them when they have.
So I haven't yet commented on either episode of real world Skeletons. I want to first say that I have been a huge fan of the real world and the challenges since Back 2 New York. That was the first season I watched the casting special for (Back 2 New York & RR: The Quest) and was immediately hooked. Since then, I've gone back and watched RW: New Orleans, Hawaii, Boston, Miami, parts of Seattle & San Francisco and all of the challenges. I'm only giving this background because I do feel like in order to judge some of the newer seasons of both the RW and the Challenge, you need to have a base of the original seasons. There is absolutely no doubt the show has changed. I'm not saying that's a good thing or a bad thing. What I will say however is that I have actually enjoyed both episodes thus far. I scanned through here and it seems like people are upset over the cast (as I have been many times) - but I really am liking it. There is a ton of drama, but honestly, these people are just dramatic. It doesn't seem forced in my opinion. With the exception of Violetta who I think has a whole array of issues going on, I don't believe anyone else is "acting" for the camera. They have cast some very dynamic personalities with some interesting stories and I am genuinely excited to see how things play out.
With that being said, the programming dept at MTV right now should be fired immediately. Why they would premiere a show one week before Xmas and New Years is beyond me. They should have waited until 2015 and aired the Challenge and the Real WOrld the same week on DIFFERENT nights. 11pm is too late for most people to stay up to watch something. 10pm Wednesday is an extremely competitive time spot (with AHS). So stupid in my opinion. Real World should be airing on Tuesday nights at 9pm with the challenge airing after it at 10pm. End of story.
Give this season a chance. From what I've heard, it's only going to get better. There are some good episodes coming that involve more than drunken fights and hook ups. Spread the word and remember that true fans don't stop watching ever.
IMO Mtv needs to try to revamp Jersey Shore with a new cast, get Real World and The Challenge a better time slot, and stop with the cheesy scripted shows. Ken Jeong Made Me Do It
The only one that looks interesting and that I'll deff watch is Scream.
According to the MTV press sites and advertising sites these only the only new TV series they ordered for 2015. Of course they will be ordering more in the coming months!
