Right! I watched Scandal before I even watched The Challenge. Unfortunately this thursday is the season finale of Scandal :(
Unfortunately for what? The Scandal fans? Shouldn't that be a good thing for the Challenge? lol. My best friend has been watching the Challenge since like 2006 and we always watch it together, but when she found out it moved to Thursdays, she was like "I'll just have to watch it online the next day because that's when Scandal comes on".
I don't even think The Draw was a problem because they hardly even promoted that part of the game. They did nothing! Thats the problem. Old School vets (the popular ones with status) need to come back asap! I mean I'm still trying to figure out why Isaac is on Free Agents. It just makes no sense. Hes so weird too!
To me the biggest problem is changing nights. To me MTV did the right thing with giving the promotional stuff to Huffington, EW, etc. However, they didn't really promote it was on Thursday instead of Wednesday. Yes, we live in a culture where you can Google something and find it out pretty easily BUT the majority of people are creatures of habit. This show has been on Wednesday nights for over 5 years. If you hear a new Challenge starts soon, you tend to look for it on Wednesday at 10pm. If you don't see it on your TV Guide, more than likely you'll just check back next week and if its not on forget about it. MTV REALLY should have highlighted the night change because just assuming your audience will find it is stupid.

Now that Scandal (which I had no idea was bringing in 10+ million viewers) is over, hopefully we see an increase next week.
Yeah...this is not looking good; hopefully, things will turn around soon.
Maybe they should move it back to Wednesdays
For those who just want the number without digging through tvbythenumbers junk... CHALLENGE: Free Agents MTV 10:00 PM 923 0.5

And people wanna talk about Battle of the Seasons?! This is worse. No promotion. No theme. Bad cast. No entertaining drama. Pointless. If it does go up it won't be by much. This season won't have Rivals II ratings.
Just for comparison... BOTS ratings: Episode 1: 0.7 (1,145,000) Episode 2: 0.8 (1,225,000)
God and Free Agents can't even hit the 1 million mark. This may go down as the lost rated season in challenge history.
Goodbye Challenge.
Goodbye Challenge.
No there will be a season 26 but don't expect to see all this draw crap.
These rating are highly disappointing. Time to say hello to PAIRED WATER CHALLENGES again lol. This is pretty surprising come off of a Real World season which got good ratings. I have to think that the Thursday air date has something to do with this as I don't think the cast or format is anything that should turn viewers away. All of the regular fans see to be enjoying this season very much although I have heard several people claim they missed episodes becasue they thought it was on Wed. This is looking like another Cuthroat. Great concept, good season, but no viewers and now they will probably never do something like this again. Back to the dumb two on two format.
This makes the excuses about BOTS having too many newbies seem irrelevant, this is literally 80% of Rivals 2 cast, with the same exact amount of four newcomers. Back to partner challenges and simple formats we go. We get the coolest most refreshing concept ever and we get these crap ratings.
lol can they ever get it right? Good format, wrong night. Wack format, good night. All the promotion in the world for one challenge & nearly none for the next one. This one also has a much better cast than the last one. I also think its a sign of the times though...sadly. Unless its actual sports or on a big network these physical competition shows are starting to fade out. Braindead people would rather watch Teen Mom then complain about teen pregnancy.

I'm not sure why people prefer Wednesday over Thursday in the first place? Maybe the show has lost its appeal to many, maybe people watch it the next day. I know I usually don't catch the Thursday show simply because it is on too late. I'd rather just watch it on demand the next day after work

This season is great. I love the draw. I don't get why the ratings are so bad. Disappointing.
I prefer Wednesday to Thursday simply because that's when I watched Challenge/Real World stuff. I know that for the past two weeks I've expected to see the show on Wednesday (even though I know that it airs on Thursday now) and come away disappointed. Some people have designated nights for their shows and the challenge was always on Wed for me. I'm pretty sure there's a large section of people that have seen that the show isn't on that night anymore and just don't care to search for it at this point. It's happened with some scripted shows, so it's not out of the realm of possibility for a reality show on its last legs to lose a fanbase to this and many other factors.

I know it's not anything they haven't done before (the Duel 1 was on Thursdays), I want to say the earlier challenges like the Gauntlet, Inferno & BOTS2 also switched back & forth between Monday/Tuesday but i'm not completely sure.
What's carrying this season, for me, is the format, challenges, and elimination games. The cast is horrible. Or maybe it's the editing, but there's just nothing going on. No interesting story lines being developed. I guess The Draw cuts all that out because no plotting or scheming is taking place. Just random hookups and drunken drama. That Nany/Camila/CT/Isaac fight was stupid, pointless, and did nothing (Funny that those were the main moments they showed in the trailer). Can't just blame it on the promo. There was a lot of promotion during The Real World and Ridiculousness. That "New Rules, New Night" promo kept replaying to the point where I was just annoyed with it.
Maybe another mistake was not having anyone from Ex-Plosion on the cast. Ex started out with some really good ratings, those fans may have continued to watch the challenge if they felt the characters they connected with were in it. I remember back when Rivals first aired, several people who enjoyed the Vegas season tuned into the challenge just because some Vegas kids were on there. I normally wouldn't think this could be a big deal but maybe it has more of an affect than I previously thought.
The issue is the theme. To the casual viewer it is extremely confusing. Everything changes every week. This is gonna be a disaster.

Its just hookups/partying, mission, more partying, awkward voting, elimination, and someone talking about something. Episode over. I don't like the editing this season at all!
The issue is the theme. To the casual viewer it is extremely confusing. Everything changes every week. This is gonna be a disaster.
This is another point and too much happens in episode format wise that everything feels so rushed.
This is another point and too much happens in episode format wise that everything feels so rushed.
Very true. It's a chaotic mess. It's also way to many people for this format. IMO

It's a mess!
Very true. It's a chaotic mess. It's also way to many people for this format. IMO
It is way to many people for this format but what is a challenge without at least 28 to 30 cast members. Plus, the name is not catchy enough, the jersey numbers is weird because no one ever explained why they have those, and you can tell they put so much time into production this challenge and the ratings are a disaster! And you can't edit a show with a format like this until numbers get smaller but even then it could be too late.
