Woowww...
Only 0.96 millions with a 0.6....Puhhhhhh.... I hope it does go like Explosion, but I think it's just shows that a generic theme to the challenge or Real World isn't that much drawing in the first place (Even Explosion was just a hit because of the Exes twist).

Hopefully it does what Explosion did, MTV did horrible promotion for this season in my opinion and it's reflecting on the ratings.
That's what changing nights will do to ya
I don't really get why they changed nights either... I liked it on Wednesday. They need to go back next season.
My guess is they wanted to see how it fared on Thursdays rather than Wednesdays (more competition). If it does well, they'll have RW on Thursdays too.
If it seems to lack in ratings, they'll go back to Wednesday.
Chances are challenge has more life than RW so they could risk putting a challenge on Thursdays to figure out how ratings are rather than putting RW. Had they done Explosion on Thursdays and it got these ratings, it would have been done at season 30.
If any of this makes sense.
Don't be so negative hopefully does what Real World did :)
I was just quoting Emily Shromm in Exes whenever she doesn't win a mission ;D
Bad start. There was big time hype to in the social media sphere. Lets hope that hype gets people to tune in next week. Def a quality format this season.
Definitely a change in the nights and lack of promotion hurt it's overall premiere. Usually I can gauge how well ratings will be by the talk about it on Twitter, Rivals II had several things trending and this season barely had any. Also considering the fact that it's going up against Scandal, and while they don't have the same fanbase...people tend to associate that time slot with that show.
I'm sure it will build as the season progresses....hopefully. The anticipation wasn't there like it was the last time around, for sure. They could've run marathons of old challenges or something.
I guess this is the final season?
Who knows. MTV was optimistic about The Real World continuing for a while, maybe they feel the same about the Challenges.
Remember that Nielson ratings are inaccurate. It definitely broke the million mark, but it is still far too low. Give this season another 2-4 weeks before claiming it's the end.

Nah. Especially with Ex-Plosion's ratings (I have no clue how the ratings were or how the show was, but from the way people talked about it -- seems positive), and bringing on those cast members in the future should keep it afloat. They could easily throw one more Battle of the Exes together for a ratings bump.

Let's hope ratings skyrocket and prove you do not need a tacky gimmick to get viewers, and then we never see another BOTE again.

LOL. Have you seen MTV? Tacky gimmick network. Italians goons, Knocked up Teenagers or Weird Internet Creepers. Take your pick.

It's only going to go so far though. MTV has been ordering a lot of scripted programming, I'm honestly surprised they renewed 16 & Pregnant. Catfish was great the first season, but now I feel like applicants are just making the scenarios up.

The thing is, those shows are/were fads. Jersey Shore was losing steam. Teen Mom 3 bombed so bad they cancelled it and I'd imagine this season of 16 & Pregnant won't be too far from that. Catfish did pretty damn bad in ratings last season, it just gets renewed because it's insanely cheap to make. It's not the end for the Challenge.

The ratings have to improve for it not to be the end...all starts with casting

Casting for this season wasn't bad in my opinion.
The promotion MTV did for this season have been horrible so far. Compared Rivals 2 promo and this season promotion it has been horrible.

All they really need next season is Sarah, Mark, Darrell, Brad, CT (since he is not retiring), Tyler, Cory, Jenny, Brian, and then the regular new school people. Then maybe a surprise like FINALLY getting KellyAnne back and throw in maybe another one who has solid fan base.
Then have a theme next season that BMP can manage to promote and promote well. Maybe even do a format that involves teams but designated teams instead of a draft and then it transitions to individuals like Survivor.
Just a thought.

If the ratings doesn't do well this time around, don't expect a new format. Expect a battle of the exes 2 just like seasons was follow for Rivals 2 in order to save the show and increase ratings.

The only thing with that is, the exes teams they have aren't that great imo. Not to carry a whole season like the exes from the first one did. I mean there are a few good ones but ugh they need to wait and do an Exes!

Rivals 2 teams weren't even decent let alone great and that worked for ratings because Johnny and CT came back
To increase ratings you have to bring back people that weren't on the prior season that people care about. Just the way it works.
