It's certainly not impossible for ratings to go up. Obviously TRW will never get ratings like it used to but I think depending on the season, things can look up. I'm enjoying this season so far and have a pretty good feeling about it. I think the first few episodes of TRW still feel the effects from the previous season. St Thomas and SD2 were both low-rated, so Portland was already at kind of disadvantage. But NO2 started kind of low due to DC and then the ratings rose week after week. Same for LV2, but that season had already started pretty decently since NO2 was highly-rated (I use "highly-rated" loosely, of course.)
Pleased with the increase. if MTV continues good promo, ratings can increase even more - but I highly doubt they will get to where they were on Vegas 2. Remember MTV & the advertisers don't care about total viewers, but the demo rating, which is 18-34. Total viewers are more for bragging rights in press releases, etc.

REAL WORLD XXVIII MTV 10:00 PM 959,000 0.6
I was optimistically hoping for +1m but that is a nice increase.
Also, doesn't it take a week or two to add in the recorded views too....I mean I never am home when it airs but I watch it later on. I know during my 30 Rock obsession the views when it first aired changed after the recorded info came in.

Advertisers don't care about DVR views.
It went up six spots so that's good.
I don't understand your math, but it hardly matters.
Better than ep 1, marginal for cable for Wednesday at 10 pm.

Sorry, I thought the first episode had the 15th spot not the 14th
Good. Seems like the show is slowly growing. Sucks that MTV isn't giving it reruns now... reruns will definitely help the show since it seems like people are slowly coming around to this season.

I know right? The only time they're going to show it is Friday at 1am and 12:10pm.
Judging only by the way some were reacting to Nia's arrival thinking she would save the season, I would have expected way more than 30,000 additional viewers last night.
Here again is RW's competition from last night and the results.
V1man, is the fact that casting calls have gone out for the Real World conformation of the series being renewed?
..obviously
..obviously
You never know, they could just be getting ready in case MTV does order more seasons. And if MTV doesn't renew then all is not lost because BMP will have seen a load of people that they can put on their other reality shows.

They already said they're gonna renew it.

Do you want to answer all questions put to me?
As far as I know, MTV has not informed advertisers that RW has been renewed or the current contract extended. That argues against "obviously." I do expect it to be renewed, not because it's a great profit maker for MTV, but because RW is a consistent, if downward trending, draw that the network needs at this particular time. The question in my mind is if VIACOM is willing to commit the necessary resources or if they are going to continue to press for slashing expenses. A few years ago, there were solid rumors that a couple of RW seaons were $500K over budget.
History: Survivor and other reality shows have occasionally initiated casting for an additional season before the network made a final decision. However, from a timing standpoint, the producers needed to begin casting in order to keep a schedule. I've been told that in the past MTV has given BMP direction to begin the casting process before VIACOM signed off on the contract extension or renewal.
As a producer myself, working with DirecTV a few years ago, I found that the communication between the money men/women and my producer team was minimal. Extension vs cancellation was always on our minds through three TV specials -- before the surprise cancellation axe. I'm sure BMP has better communication with MTV than I did with DirecTV, but I've also heard senior production people and execs at MTV complain about BMP. Thus, I think it is entirely possible that MTV is not yet ready to issue a press release announcing a new season or two of TWR. Of course, that could happen tomorrow.
At least its trending upwards. From just the little I have seen though, it seems MTV is struggling with ratings period. And now they cancelled Buckwild which I believe did well for them. Not sure if this means they will cut their losses and axe Real World or stick with it for another season because of limited products with the same potential to produce decent ratings. Is the potential of a real world season to hit those Vegas or Rivals numbers worth it to them at this point? Guess we will see soon.

I don't have your "Track record", but I can put two-and-two together. It hasn't been that hard to figure out that the show is getting renewed after hearing cast interviews, casting calls being posted, John's interviews, and Entertainment Tonight straight up saying "the show will get another pick up"
So yes, to me, it was obvious :)

Glad you have an opinion. Now how about in the future letting me answer the questions put to me?
Last night during the Movie Awards MTV showed the Nia promo for this upcoming episode like 3 times... I'm really hoping that will help the ratings.
People still watch the MTV Movie Awards? LOL

I watched it for the first time in years last night because Rebel Wilson was hosting and I'm in love with her. It actually wasn't as bad as I remembered.
