Whoever said this episode was the worst in challenge history must've skipped over the whole season of the Island and Fresh Meat 2.
Fresh Meat II was better--much better. The Island was awful--so I'll alter that statement to the worst episode since the Island.
This challenge is spreading around the camera time more than i thought, which is good. Although some are being left out completely
Laura, JD, Ashley, Sam come to mind. There might be more..
I honestly think the challenge is getting renewed regardless of how this one underperforms and the old school vs new school will be the "test" if they continue...if that draws good ratings, they can do a ton more mixing them and seeing them go at it in different seasons....Truth be told I really really want to see that too. Or even a mix with a Zach/CT alliance against JEK how awesome would that be. I just think having a new generation experiment won't be given up on after 1 season. People have to get invested and at least have a couple seasons of the new breed of people.
I have 0 proof and pure speculation, just saying how I feel since everyone is saying and making excuses why this is getting or will get bad ratings. The new age rw cast and the old school draw in such a huge range of fans and audiences, I see nothing but good out of that.
This episode had about 5 minutes of competition which was basically pointless do to the set up of the mission. That's not balance.
I mean, I understand where you're coming from and sure maybe the ratings might not be great for whatever reason but I've never seen someone letdown that there WAS drama and I'm sure you're not the only one. I guess I have to get use to the Challenge demographic. I watch both shows so it's not a big deal for me personally whether we get drama or competition.
People still haven't gotten over the fact that the regulars aren't on this challenge and they're not opening up to the rookies, especially when there's no balance.
Laura, JD, Ashley, Sam come to mind. There might be more..
McKenzie & Preston are completely non-existent. Jasmine's pretty much non-existent as well. I think that's everyone.

My issue isn't that there was drama. It's that there was only drama. You need balance. This could have been an amazing episode to everyone if they would have had balance. Those that watch for drama would have been thrilled. I watch primarily for competition--just give me an elimination round and I'm happy. I'm not asking for much
I can deal without veterans but they need more than a stupid fight between Nany and Knight to draw me in. I still feel like I don't know who half the first timers are. I haven't seen Preston or McKenzie since the premier episode.

Apparently, her soul is getting tortured next episode.

Well, yeah, only was what I meant.

MTV is somewhat dependent on 'The Challenge' and 'RW' in large part because they have not had much success overall with other reality-based shows or scripted shows. Almost all Viacom's tv networks have suffered viewership erosion in the past couple of yrs. I wouldn't be too quick to sound the alarms just yet.
Well, yeah, only was what I meant.
My bad--I misunderstood. I realize I'm on the "old" side of the viewers but they really can't afford to lose anyone that is watching this show and I think this is a dangerous approach.
I just hope it gets renewed but I'm not feeling good about that. Ratings will probably struggle tonight due to Chicago Fire & Nashville. And next week will tell us a lot.

Their are no alarms, i am saying i think it will be renewed.
Some things that stood out to me:
1. Devyn looked kinda muscular in that rock challenge!
2. As whiny as Frank gets in the edit, I like the moments where he saw that Knight was stupid for throwing Nany's stuff in the pool. Also the fact that he tried to prevent Nany from fighting Knight. I can kind of understand his anger in the challenge, it was an intense time, and a lot of guys get upset when they lose or are losing in any type of game.
3. Trishelle redeemed herself for me. She's being very strategical right now. Last week's tirade about how Sarah was so manipulative was kind of showing her as "off her rocker".
4. This fight was just awkward. All it was was a bunch of beeping. I'd like to hear what people actually have to say in a fight or conversation... but maybe that's just me. I understand why they showed it for the storyline, but to make it such a long segment was just awkward and painful to my ears.
5. Ugh @ TBC.
So far I'm liking Eric, Devyn, Sarah, Trishelle, Dustin, and Frank. I like a few more, but those are my favorite 6 that stood out in some way this episode.
Their are no alarms, i am saying i think it will be renewed.
I agree. I think that talk about ratings may be somewhat pointless given it's the demo #s that matter the most and not viewership #s.
Not re-showing the Challenge at 11 (or at least 1130) could have been a mistake as well. Those people watching Chicago Fire or Nashville will likely have to try to find time to catch it before next week.
Say what you will about JEK, Wes, CT, and the like, but I've never seen them call a girl that on the show. Ever.
Alright, well two of those people are currently in the middle of a lawsuit for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman, so there is that. Not saying I think they're guilty, but you know it doesn't exactly help their character.
I agree. I think that talk about ratings may be somewhat pointless given it's the demo #s that matter the most and not viewership #s.
John Murray has stated that in a very recent interview, which is why I think MTV will renew.

They need to continue to develop these newer cast members. So far Frank, Zach, Trey, and now Knight have been featured. A bit of Jemmye and sort of Nany with this episode. I think they need to build up some more of the girls.

It was awkward. Just a hot, drunken mess. I don't even know if the people involved completely knew why it escalated the way it did. It was not anywhere near as interesting as I thought it would be. I would have preferred to see the elimination tonight.
Yes, more trivia next week! But over the water again? Must they do that. So unnecessary. The thing with trivia is that it's interesting to see what relatively simple questions the challengers get wrong, not that it's done over water.
Rewatching the fight, McKenzie looks so uncomfortable. She's literally crawled up in her seat. Lol. Can't say I blame her.
But yea, I agree with whoever said JD, Laura, Preston, McKenzie, Ashley and Sam are practically non existent so far.
This is still my favorite episode so far though. So many people got camera time. My favorites right now are Devyn, Nany, Trishelle, Marie and Dustin.
TJ is slacking a bit with the puns in his clues. I expect a lot more from him.
When he said "shed excess weight" my first thought was no "trim the fat"?
I don't understand why they showed him throwing her clothes in the pool out of order? It doesn't make sense, and why when zachs hook broke they didn't show that on tv. Thats actually interesting and unexpected drama. I really don't understand why mtv feels the need to warp the show with editing. Why? Does whoever running it think they are making the show better that way? Cause they're not, the people in charge of editing or doing the editing, and making these choices need to be let go and they should get some people in who know what their doing...that being said.
Devyns arms looked really muscular on camera I was really impressed.
I actually said to my friend that I thought if sam wasn't on the rope and Zach was pulling it by himself he'd have an easier time. Just by position. Same with Alton/CJ. And then Zach said the same thing in his interview. But props to Eric all the same...but aside from them all targeting him he did have a bit of advantage, being by himself up there.
I get why they sent fresh meat in, they don't want to go against an alliance member...but I would want to keep fresh meat to the end if I was a competitor. Eric is not winning the money in the final. They were a weak team, I wouldn't let them win, but I wouldn't have sent them in. Knights an *** and they could have justified sending that team in easily, as well, St. Thomas is really not aligned with anyone.
Knight kept talking about how he's this master manipulator and how he can mentally break anyone...really knight? You target girls and that's it. The guys a coward and weak, I'm a master because I broke the most mentally weak girl in the house herpa derp. Also shes in his alliance...wow really? Stupid is stupid.
I love that maries trying, but no matter how they swing it, once they get rid of everyone not in their alliance, St. Thomas is going in. They're really low on the chopping block, I'm glad she was like send me in I don't care. Because they're gonna send them in anyway no matter what they say or do. Just not yet.
Knight keeps talking about how its a game and no one knows its a game. You throw Nany's clothes into clorinated water, how is that part of the game? You wanted to break her mentally, you just put a target on your back. Frank was exactly right. And Marie knows its a game, shes playing it knight. What? its a game so she shouldn't fight to stay in it? She should just sit back and say, its ok you went back on your word its just a game its cool send me in. Knight is soooo dumb its mind boggling what a moron he is.
I love Devyn!!
Chet was right. She's a lot cooler than I remember her being.
This is random, but The Miz hosted last seasons reunion. I hope he does again. I get sick of the cast talking over Maria
That was only because she was rehearsing for Dancing w/ The Stars. She hosted the RW reunion and I'm sure she'll do the BOTS one as well.
I'm watching the rerun right now, maybe I'll see it from a different point of view.
Lol even in the intro, Trey looks like he hates his team.
I never realized how short he is. Being next to Robb does not help things.
Woot! We need more of Chet and Eric telling all the rookies to **** off
I was actively checking Franks twitter to see if he said anything about Chet's comments. Nothing for Chet, but he still had a vendetta against Sam for some reason.
