Real World: St Thomas - Ratings

Well the original Teen Mom is coming to an end (this week is the series finale, right?) and TM2 doesn't get as good of ratings as the original TM, last time I heard. There is gonna be a TM3 but I don't think that'll do well, plus I think the ratings of 16 and Pregnant have been down the last few seasons, I think people are just tired of that show. Because Snooki is pregnant, IDK yet if she's gonna be returning to the Jersey Shore for the next season, so if she's not on the show, the show might get cancelled since a lot of people watch the show just for her. Scripted shows like Awkward and Teen Wolf clearly aren't going anywhere, but the Inbetweeners will most likely have just one season. Hopefully if TM and JS end soon (which is a possibility) maybe that can give RW an advantage in ratings (although MTV will probably come up with some other crazy concept for a show that will bring in as much ratings as those shows/more ratings than RW).

She had her baby last night :P 2. I think it was already confirmed she was still on JS6?
1. She had her baby last night :P 2. I think it was already confirmed she was still on JS6?
Oh, I didn't know she had the baby yet, I didn't think she was due for like another month or so. How is she gonna be on the show? She can't drink while breastfeeding (IDK if she is or not) and she does do the show and still goes out to party everyone will be calling her a 'bad mom' so I don't see why she would try to get her reputation ruined...

So all is good.

There will be even more 16 and Pregnant seasons and the cast will be used in future Teen Moms. 2. Jersey Shore will reboot the cast after next season. The next cast will be better than anything Real World would produce. 3. If Real World went on long after its prime, you can bet on MTV doing the the same with the Teen Mom and Jersey Shore franchises. 4. Awkward deserves its own night even more than the Real World right now. Chances are MTV will find another hit scripted show, since they have found one the last 3 years. The biggest threat to the Real World is the youth direction the network has taken the last 3 years. The Real World appeals more to adults than it does the MTV teenage demographic.

If Jersey Shore is recast with new people, I don't see why anyone would watch that, reminds me of when Laguna Beach was replaced completely for season 3, it bombed and that was the end of it.

MTV loves money and ratings. Couldn't you also say that about every Real World and 16 and Pregnant season? Chances are the new Jersey Shore cast would bring in higher rating because they are younger. The Real World is a diehard show. That's what they call shows that can't bring in new viewers and are solely relying diehards to keep afloat. Sooner or later they will stop watching.
Am I the only one who enjoys this season? I know the storylines aren't that great...and the whole Trey/Laura thing has been painful to watch...but I really enjoy the cast, besides Trey. I really like the cast and I think it has definitely picked up in the last few weeks.
More of a drop. REAL WORLD XXVII - 1.090 0.6 A 18-49

I really don't think people, especially the demo MTV is going for, are interested in storytelling aspect of reality TV anymore and this season kind of speaks to that. People watch reality TV because they want to see fights, over-the-top craziness, screaming and etc. There also has to be some form of entertaining characters (hence the Jersey Shore and Real Housewives craze). If the next season has a bunch of crazy, wild, kids partying all the time and fighting along with interesting characters I guarantee it'll be a hit but if it's the same old -- cast members hooking up, two guys fighting over a girl, a girl has a boyfriend back home but likes her cast mate, etc it's gonna do probably just as bad as this season.
Problem bveing is that Awkward sucks as well as Wake brothers. I think they could do better with more quality programming.
Problem bveing is that Awkward sucks as well as Wake brothers. Now that Jersey Shore is officially ending though, and the original Teen Mom just ended, things could possibly start going better for the RW unless MTV creates some other show to replace those (which they have a record of doing).

Leroy said he hated Adam breaking stuff in house, but that makes for better tv. He said no one wants to see folks coupled up the entire time.
Ratings will probably take another hit with the first game of the football season tonight.
And more of a drop. REAL WORLD XXVII - 1.064 0.6 A 18-49
Next week is the finale. On CBS at 8 they'll show the premiere of Survivor, followed by the finale of Big Brother, it'll probably go down next week as well.
And more of a drop. REAL WORLD XXVII - 1.064 0.6 A 18-49
For a second I saw the 1.06 and thought ratings went up.
For a second I saw the 1.06 and thought ratings went up.
1.06 is less than 1.09, so no.

And even if it did premiere next week, it doesn't come on at the same time as RW and neither does Big Brother. I don't think they'd really affect the viewers.

Ouch.

Wow it hurts me seeing these numbers, and I didn't even watch this season haha
Ouch is an understatement. Atleast the challenge starts next week and looks great.
You know these bad ratings should really be making BMP rethink this show and stop casting the same type of people...make this more of the stand-alone show it once was and not just for bringing new people in the challenges (Which they barely use...until now).

I'm assuming Catelynn and Tyler will have their own wedding show, considering he just "happened" to move up the date next year. Catelynn and Tyler irritate the hell out of me. Yes, they did an amazing thing. It takes a strong person to do that. I get it, I'm adopted. However, the show is called Teen Mom. Every season is the same ****, especially with those two. And im betting they moved up the wedding so they can stay in the public eye. They are not fooling anyone. Jersey Shore, I agree with the poster who said the same thing will happen to Jersey shore that happened to Laguna Beach season 3. If they try to get a new cast in there, it won't be the same. I remember Laguna Beach season 2 being even more popular than season 1. Season three came and that was it, I bet no one can even remember anyone from the casts name. And then there was that sad newport beach attempt. MTV will find a way, people will still watch Teen Mom spinoffs and 16 and pregnant. I'm sure Snooki and Jionni will get a wedding show, and there will be things to keep the cast relevant is if this indeed their last season. As far as Real World goes, I honestly don't know why the show hasn't been cancelled. Not that I want it to be, but the ratings have been atrocious. Same thing with the challenges. I know I barely watch the Real World and I barely watch the challenges. And I have always been a challenge fan, even when I stopped watching the Real World. I guess its just sad to see how the show has changed. Especially for those of us who have been watching it since the beginning of time, and just like Real World Sydney and on.
Wow, those ratings....I just don't even have the words for them. So sad, believe it or not, I really had high hopes for this season in terms of ratings, I was like "I'll stay positive, the ratings will go up eventually, this season looks like it has potential" and unfortunately it never happened. :weep:
I guess this means that YUUUUUUUUUUP guy from Storage Wars is more entertaining than the Real World. Speaking of which, has anyone seen Breaking Amish? I caught part of an episode and it looks promising -- basically, the Real World premise with Amish kids in NYC.
I'm not surprised.
