They should skip the next RW season and do a Road Rules. I would even rather see Road Rules than a challenge right now. They ****ed up with Viewer's Revenge, but South Pacific was a really good season and X-Treme was decent. Even if they did another USA version or even Mexico or Canada (Turkey could be awesome). And they should get rid of the vote off. It's so dumb because voting people off defeats the purpose of the show. It's like saying okay your team is losing, so here just get rid of your problem instead of trying to work better as a team. I think the vote off was the downfall of Viewer's Revenge.

This is good news!! Back over a million. While it's not a good thing about these ratings this is indeed good news. Now if RW can continue to climb and maybe near 2 mill by the end of the season. That would be good.
That's still pretty bad but I'm so glad it's crossed back over a million. I'm guessing it'd be a little higher as well without the Viacom and DirecTV situation.
I think it's good that all of MTV's show have been hurt by Directv/Viacoms dispute but it seems like RW has climbed higher. Awkward was down 400k and like .2 in the demo Teen Wolf was down pretty much the same. Teen Mom was down to about 1.4 Mill which is WAY down from a premiere in the 3 million range. While these ratings aren't good or great by any means its nice to see that RW is the only MTV show to rise in the ratings this week. Let's hope this holds.
Why doesn't MTV work it out so they can show old real worlds or challenges? The hills and all this crap gets it's due but it is such a rare event to see an old challenge or real world. They don't sell DVD's, they don't show reruns on MTV 2. It's nearly impossible to get a hold of them unless its on MTV.com (which only goes back so far) or illegally on youtube. Are they ever going to release these shows? Ever going to put out reruns or are they just doomed to be lost in time? If I start seeing freaking undressed or Fanatic reruns before a classic RW/challenge season, I'm going to flip.

Theoretically speaking, without this Directv stuff, by my estimate, this episode would have done about 1.5 million viewers. Not sure if that's bad or not.
Theoretically speaking, without this Directv stuff, by my estimate, this episode would have done about 1.5 million viewers. Not sure if that's bad or not.
There is not a one-for-one correlation between DirecTV subscribers and MTV's ratings. The stats I've seen for DTV are slightly skewed toward more affluent viewers who do not watch MTV in numbers proportional to cable viewers. Reality programming, in general, is heavily middle America with significantly fewer proportional viewers on the East and West coasts.
Glad to hear that the ratings have gone over a million. Compared to last week's ratings (and the week before) I suppose this is good news. What pissed me off sooooo much was how right before this episode premiered they just showed a marathon of Jersey Shore season 1 for the umpteenth time instead of last week's episode. Why do they do this? It drives me nuts! For me, a huuuugggeee reason why ratings fall is a lack of reruns during the week. MTV sure doesn't mind showing reruns of Snooki & Jwoww, Awkward, Teen Wolf, Teen Mom 24/7. Sure showing reruns of The Hills in the morning doesn't exactly count because that show doesn't have new episodes, plus it makes me happy when they show reruns of their old shows like that and Laguna Beach. If they showed old RW and Challenges though, it'd be even better!
MTV sure doesn't mind showing reruns of Snooki & Jwoww, Awkward, Teen Wolf, Teen Mom 24/7.
Maybe they should've given Trey a fur suit and Marie a poof wig. :unknw:
That's what happens when you cast the wrong kind of trashy people (you know, the annoying kind and not the funny kind).
These ratings just prove that people want to see drama; this was the only trailer to show any sort of fight. (despite the fact that it was lame..)
My current submission into the "Viacom flinch pool" is July 21st at 5 PM. A weekend dump story. Everyone is a "winner." Back to the grind of raising rates every year...
Close, but no cigar. Except the fact that since this episode sucked and a lot of people probably will stop watching now cause of an entire episode based on a 24 hour day. Next week seems really good though. Brandon breaks things and has a frank breakdown.
Just for clarity, no viewings than the original airing and "same day" DVRs count for the ratings.
I know that, but because they don't show reruns, less people are watching because they don't know what's going on. Not everybody has DVR (I don't) so it's not like I can just record it and play it when I have time, I can only watch it twice; when it originally airs at 10, then the repeat at 11. And I hardly pay attention to it cause I'm normally on the computer at that time.
On Demand/Xfinity has. TV Networks > MTV > Real World

I really wish they showed reruns and stuff. I used to be able to turn on MTV and be entertained all day. Now they got shows like Snooki & JWoww, Awkward, Teen Wolf, Fantasy Factory, etc. all day. I miss the days of RW Reruns, Parental Control, Disaster Date, Shot at Love...all those shows.
REAL WORLD XXVII MTV 10:00 PM 1.159 0.6 The timing, promoting, and lack of repeats for this season has been disgusting. I can't believe B2 San Diego got better ratings even though St. Thomas is clearly the better season even though we've only seen six episodes.
Well, better than last week.
The increase of 30,000 viewers week to week, probably represents the return of the final subset of viewers lost via the VIACOM/DIRECTV disaster. At this point, I think advertisers will have written off the season. I can't imagine an normal marketing path that will now take the show to 2.0M in any given week. Given what the market seems to expect for successful cable shows these days, I'm not sure how RW is sustainable. If I were an MTV executive, I'd be paying mega bucks to the industry's best casting consultants to find 7 dynamic personalities for Portland, even if that meant throwing out the cast they have already picked.

That could either mean BMP has found someone who although not racist, doesn't have much else interesting about them, OR that BMP found someone better (possibly still racist but has something else that makes them interesting). Sorry if I'm sounding of topic there. There really is no reason other than Direct TV pulling MTV for a couple weeks as to why this show can't get viewers, reruns or promotion. At least with San Diego even if they didn't show reruns DURING the week, the least they would do is show the previous week's episode at 9 right before the new episode.

VIACOM told DIRECTV to cease showing all 27 VIACOM channels. DIRECTV didn't pull them. Being a racist is not a pathway to success in Portland. It's a very inclusive community. In my occasional trips there in recent years, I've found the people there to open and non-judgmental. Open racism is unlikely to be well received by the community or by their elected representatives.

Maybe it would be interesting to see an extreme racist person and see how they get along with open-minded people, or it could be irritating like how seeing homophobe Zach was when he was living with 2 gay roommates on SD2. And sorry, so I didn't know the difference between Viacom and Directv so you're yelling at me for this? Let's just get back on topic and talk about the RATINGS of ST. THOMAS.
