Some might disagree with the tense considering some of the recent allegations against him these last couple years.
I thought that was the season where he came on all, "I'm a changed man and I am so in love and that is the only reason I am here--to win some money so we can have a perfect life together" culminating with his wedding on the show.
Hey I have no problem with the correction. After watching how Puck antagonized Pedro I'm not surprised with the trouble he has gotten himself into. And yes, I think you're right about the wedding and it being the same season and all.
Puck personally disgusted me -- Frank from RW SD gave me the same reaction but on a way lesser level, and I would love to see him on a challenge -- but he also made for great entertainment.
And David! Talk about an underrated villain. Actually, talk about an underrated "villain threesome" -- him vs. Tami backed by Beth!
Just watched the BOTE reunion.
I have to ask....
How long after the MTV Reality train passes Paula by until we find her living under a bridge somewhere?
Also... does Johnny Bannanas wear that stupid T-shirt every day?
Only since suing Entourage for copyright infringement over the name.
I hate how now on more recent seasons there's usually only like 1-3 (at most) who come back for challenges. I don't mean come back for 1 challenge and leave early like most rookies end up doing, I mean coming back more than once.
Denver - Jenn
Sydney - Dunbar (I guess you could argue about Shauvon being a vet, although she is technically considered one)
Hollywood - Kim, and she only did 2 (she was good though, I wish she came back)
Brooklyn - Sarah
Cancun - Jasmine, I guess, although I can see her coming back, Jonna too
DC - Ty and Emily (no one else has come back, right?)
NO2 - NOBODY!
LV2 - Leroy, I guess but it's too soon to tell
People from the earlier seasons have like tons of people, almost the whole cast came back for at least one challenge.
For some reason, I feel like this will be the last season of RW either because MTV doesn't seem to be that interested in Real World anymore, Season 27 premieres in a few weeks and they still haven't released the Trailer or launched the website, they didn't even attempt to re-run San Diego or because BMP is kind of done with it. As long as MTV keeps The Challenge they will be fine cause that seems to be the popular of the two.

Not that this really relates to casting, but they have been casting for the next season already and they have been putting vids on that remote control blog for awhile now. I am guessing that site will be this season's version of the dailies. They seem to be mixing it up every season as to how they do that. So, work on your audition video and don't fret about it so much.

Tyrie too. No one from Hollywood will be on a challenge again. No one was interesting or memorable. Same with New Orleans and D.C. I guess I'm being bias because I don't watch Real World seasons so I don't know who is memorable or not but here's my point.
Would you rather see Josh and Erika (DC) on a challenge? Or Ty and Emily?
Jenn? Or Colie and/or Brooke?
Personally I think all the girls from Cancun should be on every season for drama purposes. All 4 of them were drama queens.
Leroy? Or Dustin and/or Michael and/or Adam?
See my drift? Why cast people for challenges that weren't really memorable on their own season to begin with? Like do you really ever expect to see Alex (SD2) or Sahar (NO2) or Eric (NO2) on a challenge? No. because they were all boring and brought nothing to show. Alex and Sahar especially. They were wall paper.

Honestly I would like to see Brooke over Jenn and Michael, Dustin or Adam over Leroy.
I don't understand why people like Leroy. He is very boring. I found Michael, Dustin and Adam much more interesting than Lee.

But if RW ends, Challenges will have to end. If they don't get new cast members, then eventually all the people will retire, or the people who come back every time (Wes, Johnny, Evan, Kenny, Paula, Jenn, etc.), and no one's gonna watch a challenge if it's only those people over and over and over again.
Look at Road Rules, as an example. Pretty much all the RRers have retired, although some people like Derrick may come back on occasion, but I think he's kind of done with challenges, considering he has a kid now. Unless they go up to Fresh Meat 10, and actually bring back more than 5 people (FM1 - Evan, Kenny, Evelyn FM2 - Mandi, Teresa, Laurel, Cara Maria, etc.). That's what I hate is how they only bring back certainn people, and the people they bring back are the ones I personally can't stand.
I wouldn't mind see Adam back on a challenge, as long as he can manage his anger. And Dustin seemed like he and Heather were a pretty good team, and if he hadn't had stiches and stayed, I actually think they could have stayed a little longer. And I was pretty impressed with how Mike did on Rivals, he did much better than I thought he would.
I didn't see Denver, so I don't know much about Brooke or Colie, but I saw Brooke on Duel 2, and from what I remember she wasn't that good, but I can't really tell cause she wasn't there that long.
Yeah, the DC and NO2 people may have been boring, but I wouldn't mind having seen maybe Ashley or Mike on a challenge, or even Jemmye and Knight could have been on BotE. Jemmye said that she and Knight weren't even asked to be on the show, even though they actually dated, whereas Priscilla and Nate hardly even hooked up.

I understand this logic, and don't disagree with it, but just because somebody isn't memorable on a season doesn't mean they can't be memorable on a challenge. Some of them can prove to be breaths of fresh air, or good competitors, etc. I think it's unfair to judge how they'd be on a challenge when many of them aren't given a chance to show how they'd do.
I personally would be fine with anybody from the recent on the seasons. I mean, this is just me I guess, but some of my favorite challenges are the ones with big casts and some of my favorite challengers are probably considered boring. I appreciate the dramatic people, but rarely are they on the top of my list of favorites. I mean, Jamie from SD was boring on her season but I loved her on Inferno 2.
As far as who I'd prefer from those seasons. I just have to say I would prefer Brooke 100000000000000x before Jenn. Brooke is probably the single most entertaining person to come on TRW in the past 5 years or however long it's been.

In theory they could continue variations of the Challenges forever. They would just need to bring in FM or cast members from their other shows, or fans v. casts etc. I doubt they would without RW because there would be no point in continuing ties with BMP if they were not using BMP's RW talent pool as the tie in to the series.

Not nessarly Random cast interest has happened for every challenge and With Fresh Meat format it make's it easy for them to continue without the RW , Look at Camila they could also
bring in people ftom the Spring break challenge or do another Spring break challenge.
For this season they should release the semi-finals in a casting site and let us pick the final 7

From what I've heard about Brooke, I heard she was a big drama queen, and had lots of bipolar temper fits, which sure makes for good tv, which was probably great during the RW. I know there's tons of drama on the challenges as well, and she could definitely create drama on challenges. However, she tends to leave early on challenges due to her lack of athletic ability maybe. Jenn is both a drama queen, but also, in my opinion, a good competitor in terms of athleticism. I actually don't mind seeing Jenn on the challenges. She may be a *****, but that's what's entertaining about her, and she also does well in the physical challenges, even if she hasn't won a challenge yet, she still manages to do pretty well, and she's been in the finals four times, and if she doesn't make it to the finals, then she makes it far in challenges. During Duel 2, she won a few Duels, the Island was a joke of a challenge, FM2 she had a good partner but couldn't compete against Kenny and Laurel, Cutthroat she never went into a Gulag, and Rivals she did pretty well. I didn't see Inferno 3, so IDK how she did on that challenge. But Jenn's a pretty good competitor, and although it may be annoying to see the same people again and again, she's one of the few that's bearable to me.

That's true. If they could bring in more random-*** people like Camila (who I still think her being there is a joke), then they could probably bring in more *** people like that, I guess.
And you're second things, that's sounds like it could be a good idea, but remember, with the online winners we got ****** people like Ayiia and that d-bag from Hollywood. No thanks.

In THEORY, they could use anybody who worked on air for any MTV show who said Yes--Teen Mom; Teen Wolf; Awkward; Jersey Shore; etc. It would be risky to the scripted series since actors are not as easily and cheaply replaced as reality people. I don't think it'll happen but it is conceivable.

You make a risky assumption about what entity owns the challenge. Is it MTV or BMP, and what it the nature of the contract relationship between the two entities. It might not be in BMP's long-term interest to agree to use non-BMP people. We are not in a position to know the variables at play here.

No I would assume they would call it something different and use some other format within the competition genre as a replacement show for the same audience. Again, it is theoretically doable. I don't expect either show to really have its head lopped off anytime soon.

I think you might be missing the point.
BMP does not own any of those shows that you mentioned a couple of posts ago. If they wanted to use those who have been only on MTV and are "owned" by BMP, they'd be SOL. If they wanted to use those on MTV shows that are not produced by BMP, they would need to receive permission from the respective production companies. If they want to branch out to non-MTV shows owned by BMP, they're pretty much limited to the Bad Girls Clubbers, the Kardashians and the Lohans.
It is theoretically doable, albeit ridiculously difficult.
It is theoretically doable, albeit ridiculously difficult.
Of course but the theoretical extends into the absurd, and if we are going there, I'm in for a pound. Viacom owns a lot of the fields on which BMP plays. I am sure if they really wanted to, they could push BMP around more easily than BMP could resist. MTV could even create more of its own ****** shows just to feed into the pool. Like I said, I really don't expect either show to go anywhere, but its fun to consider.

"Battle of the Network Reality Stars," "Back to Reality" and "The Gender Challenge are three shows Viacom does not own. The fundamental concept for all three is to use people from a variety of celeb/reality venues to participate in a competition, with the latter two being for charity.
I'll raise you the "theoretical" that at least one of the production companies that owns the rights to the concept would sue. That is a given for "The Gender Challenge" since it's been pitched to MTV.

I think that something as generic as celeb/reality venues participating in a competition would be a hard sell as an intellectual property to a court given the number of shows that have been done that way in the past. It would be an even harder sell if they were pitched after the MTV Challenge show was created since they would be a variant of that. "The Gender Challenge" sounds like it would be "Challenge: Battle of the Sexes". They are all predicated on an Olympic format anyway so unless they ripped off names or something more unique I'd save my money. One of the reasons a lot of places are so hard to pitch is because of the stream of claims by people who allege being ripped off after they pitch some super generic idea from what I have read, especially in the book world.

I think you are forgetting that this is my business (or was before I retired) and at one time I owed the rights to two of the three shows. Now I own just one. I know several people who have litigated intellectual property rights for reality concepts. We don't all do it in the court of public opinion via TMZ.
PS, the Gender Challenge is nothing like BOS. That would be an absurd recreation. And we really are off topic...

What I wrote is well known in reality circles. We all know each others' business, sadly. It's just about impossible to blindly get meetings with networks. One needs a track record and friends on the inside. We've been pretty lucky with three shows on the books with **** Clark Productions. Most people don't get that far with a major industry player. No if they would just put a little effort into making a network deal.
Actually, hardly a week goes by when someone doesn't approach me with an idea for a reality show. I do my best to say "no" as politely as possible, but sometimes I have to get rude with people. I don't want to know the next great idea for a show that you (generic you) thought of in one of your brilliant 420 moments. At least 10 well known people have pitched that same idea already, and when some network announces something close to your idea a month from now you will want to sue me. Unfortunately for you, I didn't listen and don't care. If I wanted an idea, I'd buy a good one from a Writer's Guild member or lease the North American rights to a UK reality show from the production company (like Princess Productions/Channel 5's "Back to Reality" that we optioned in 2005 -- and then VH1's Surreal Life (Vegas season) used that title in for the 2nd half hour of their show.
