I think they will renew it 1 challenge at a time and see how it goes.
After what episode did they say they were renewing the real world? And what would be the deadline to announce it?
After what episode did they say they were renewing the real world? And what would be the deadline to announce it?
MTV doesn't need to announce anything. It could just show up in their show projections without any notice or comment.
I think this season really brought the challenges back better than ever! A lot of people may disagree with me but I think it was as good as the Inferno! I'm pretty sure they have a better fanbase than any new show that MTV tries to premiere. Best to keep them going, or atleast renew them two at a time. I think that would be smart. Thanks everybody for giving the heads up. I will keep checking here to see if there is any new information on this.

I'm worried because I used to hear these shows were cheap to make but now I some people were saying they got expensive. I don't know what happened but if that's true its really got to make MTV feel like canceling it. On top of that teen mom and that other revolving around pregnancy get much better ratings. Anyone know what kind of ratings Berger was getting?

The optimist in me is hoping that this means a Challenge related announcement.

I bet tomorrow nights episode gets real good ratings. Towards the top of what they have been getting. Had a great preview, and the last men's jungle.

We'll have to wait and see until Thursday.

^ ..I just meant in general I think it will do real well tomorrow night, I didn't mean it will decide if renewed.
Yea that twitter announcement has to be good news right? I guess it could be something Real World related but I hope it has to do withe the challenges. A cancellation would not be exciting.

Yesterday, they announced their collaboration with The Jim Henson Company on a scripted series. Jon Murray says: ""We've set our sights on increasing our scripted productions".

I remember a show on prank phone calls that did that and they had a character called "Special Ed" I feel they use puppets on kids because of the bright colors and the toy like looks to them. But never understood why they do it with adult stuff... especially when the humor of adult audiences have gotten overly sexual and trashy on tv. :-/ Seems puppets would just attract young kids to adult things even more. Yick!
LOL. Challenge: Muppets! All our favorite MTV characters are turned into muppets and put through **** in an effort win 100 thousand monopoly dollars!

Miss Piggy will definitely be the Shavoun Muppet
Looks like the "announcement" was CT taking over MTV's twitter tomorrow night. Hopefully nobody had their hopes up.
The optimist in me is hoping that this means a Challenge related announcement.
I am not getting my hopes up about these twitter announcements anymore, last time I did I got the Johnny's bananas **** and the CT tweeting on the BMP profile. But there's another announcement tomorrow lets hope its something challenge related.
***Tonight's episode Spoilers*** I think there are signs of some strong numbers tonight. Twitter was trending several cast members names in the united states and CT and Adam were trending worldwide. I really hope we get out highest number of the season. A lot of people are saying they are going to tune out now that CT and Adam are gone.

I am thinking this was the biggest build up to any jungle, knowing from previews it's physical and with CT. I said before this episode should be great ratings. Physical jungle and CT you won't get any more highlight reel hits than that.
Rivals numbers are okay, but in the back of mtvs mind they have to be worried. You basically had to have the perfect cast in order to get average ratings.. The Fresh Meat 2 cast/ postRW22 personalities are not interesting enough to lead future challenges like KEJ and Wes did. The challenge future depends on what happens to the Jersey Shore. Those 2-3 JS spinoffs plus a INEVITABLE reboot/sequel could kill of the challenge. MTV schedule could look like this Mondays 10pm scripted/jeff tremaine show Tuesdays 10pm Teen Mom/16 Wednesday 10pm Jersey Shore/Spinoff Thursdays Jersey Shore Fridays 10pm animation

After all the buzz I better see a record breaking 1.4 tonight. If we get under a 1.1 I will flip.
I think this time around they cast 3 rookies (Jasmine, Leroy & Jonna) that actually brought something to the table & were more entertaining (paula, jenn, wes, johnny), so I have a feeling they are going in the right direction when it comes to casting if the challenge gets renewed. plus the storylines have been the best one since duel1.
I missed this episode, I was driving to some haunted road last night. Still hope the ratings are really good!!
tvbythenumbers says a 1.2 with 1.987 million viewers for last night's episode. A slight drop, but considering this is the highest rated so far without an after show, I think that's pretty decent.
tvbythenumbers has two different numbers right now for last night's episode. The first one says a 1.0, while the chart says a 1.2 with 1.987 million viewers.
The 1.2/1.987 is the overnight for 18-49. That is not the MTV demographic. The real demo (P 12-34) may be better for a rating number (I hope). With all the hype for the two-part finale featuring CT, I expected a better number, but it may be that some viewers left the show as their favorites departed. That is always a challenge for any elimination reality show.

But now I have to ask: The ratings appear to have been much better than usual for the last few episodes, as with the last episode having the best rating since the Duel 2 final, but we have yet to hear anything. Do you think the show was doomed from the get go or that they're waiting until the season is over to decide on anything since they don't have to work on a new challenge for a while either way?

Sure the numbers are down a little, but compared to past seasons this is over half a million more viewers. The final episode of competition shows tend to get higher ratings so hopefully numbers are pretty good next week.
