I didn't see Challenge 2000 so I can't comment on that(Although I hear she got closelined by Amaya). And other than the whole Emily thing I don't remember her getting all that much attention on BOTS. She did have that threesome on the Gautlet and the whole Katie thing but other than that she was hardly relevant to that season.
BOTS1 had some focus on her, but it was her elimination that was the big thing. That's what led to Jamie's controversial life saver attempt and Shane's speech about how unfair the girls were playing.

Oh Yeah! I totally remember that now. That was one of my favorite moments from that season. Too bad she still had to leave though.

Exactly, but with a "legend" no one has to even think about how much airtime they got or what arguments they were in. They were all over the challenges they appeared in, Coral and Beth are the only female legends of the challenges. Everyone, even the new people, knows who they are and what they're like. And im willing to bet some of them would be a little starstruck if Coral were to come back. Kissing her *** up the ying yang.
I think it also has something to do with them not retuning in 5/6 seasons. Rachel, Veronica, and Katie's steam kinda ran out when they returned to the more recent ones. They were no longer the top dogs when they came back. Well Katie was never a top dog but you get my point lol

Katie wasn't a top dog but back in the day she did have a huge ego. Just watch BOTS2 where she thought she had a legitimate chance of making it to the end and winning, as well as the Gauntlet 3 reunion. Either way, the girls back then were better than the girls now. It's just that most of the girls now do like 18 of them and still suck, when the girls then only did a few outside of Veronica. But at least Veronica was entertaining so it wasn't a big deal.
So...Which RW/RR castmembers do you think would do well on The Amazing Race.
The ones that have shown book smarts which is like 2 or 3 of them.
The ones that have shown book smarts which is like 2 or 3 of them.
So...who would those 2 or 3 be? (I don't recall any of the castmembers that has shown book smarts)
Just adding to the "is Veronica a legend?" conversation - remember, she was one of the first, (if not the first) person who did several consecutive challenges in a row. She did, what, six in a row? That was totally a record at that time. Derrick took over as the consecutive challenge person after she took a long break. She is definitely a legend, right up there with Coral, IMO (in fact, she was a legend before Coral, IMO, because she did shows before her and established herself). One of the most memorable people from the show, probably one of the few remembered by people who barely watched the shows.
Veronica and Coral are a tie in terms of legends, but Coral i'm sure(and i don't understand how) has more of a fan base. Veronica came before Coral, but Coral was such a ****** on the challenges, plus she was Mike the Miz(a popular castmember) best friend and ally.
Well, like Coral, Veronica doesn't have the best reputation as a person for a reason. It is definitely not out of thin air or just hating for the sake of it. She's not as blunt or outspoken as Coral, but she has been shady, manipulative, and rude to people. Her RR season and The Inferno series shows this the most. Though they've run in the same group on the shows, they are not one and the same. But I think both are loved by a lot of fans and hated by a lot of fans. I have liked seeing Veronica on the challenges for the sole reason of the drama she brings. I typically don't root for her or really love her personality.
Veronica has been a bit *****! She is most definitely a legend. I think many people know her, even if they haven't watched old challenges.
As far as TAR question, I don't think you need to be the brightest tool in the shed to run the race.
Regardless of how many viewers, they need to keep these challenges going and at least twice a year because its the only way for us to see our favorite cast members again. MTV has gone down some, but its still way better than Vh1 which I use to watch two years ago.
As far as TAR question, I don't think you need to be the brightest tool in the shed to run the race.
Well I think maybe the sharpest tool in the shed or the brightest crayon in the box might be better.

Touche. Hahaha I mixed the 2 up because I am that cool. I will go with sharpest tool in the shed, because sheds are awesome!
I think there were a lot of intelligent people on this show back in the day and even now they get some pretty smart kids but not like they used to. I also think people may come off as dumb when they're on this show because they show them drunk so often. I think Tyler gets pretty drunk and does some idiotic s***, but we all know he's a pretty smart individual. Didn't Johnny go to Penn State? That's a pretty good school. Also, I know Paula went to Rutgers I think- another good school in my opinion. I think the whole Brooklyn cast was pretty intelligent while the next season, which was Cancun, had people that acted 12 and talked like high schoolers. I'm pretty sure they said Derek was the valedictorian of his high school, but they definitely never showed that side of him. I think this show is more about the vacation aspect and not so much about "living". The older cast members acted as if this was a move they were making and it was going to be a different experience. I know now that if I was on the show, I would definitely see more as a vacation. Vacation = acting a fool.

Isn't Paula just a bar waitress?

Paula went to Quinnipiac where she had he highest GPA of the business college.

Penn State has one of the lowest average ACT scores in the Big 10 and is in the botom half for average SAT scores.
I do think some of the castmembers are intelligent. A lot of the way they are acting and talking is alcohol induced.
Paula is a bar waitress but that doesn't make her any less smarter.
Truth is, it doesn't matter what college you attend, just because you go to a good school, it doesn't necessarily mean you are smart.
I happen to know people like Veronica don't seem so smart, but they are. Being manipulative involves having some smarts.

I agree I don't understand why people equate going to school=Smart Cookie.
Random Challenge Moment:Remember the epic Toga party on Battle of the Seasons? Wasn't that fun?

While I agree with you generally, my caveat is that some of these people seem so easily manipulated that I have to question if it would really take that much to pull one over on them. Doesn't really take a 148 IQ to poke a dog with a stick.

On top of that, most people are just intimidated so they just give in to the "top dogs" if they see that as an easy route to the top.
Now what Wes did to Evan on The Duel was pretty impressive haha

I don't think you need a 148 IQ but I think some smarts are needed to at least get even the smallest minded people to obey. People like Wes or Johnny seem to have something about them besides charisma, love them or hate them, Same goes for Kenny and Evan. Also many of the "followers" are smart they know their positions and know where they stand.
I honestly think many of the people have some sort of smarts.

I think a lot of these people are smart enough to know that they have no shot at winning so the best they can do is stay there as long as possible for the appearance fee and maybe drum up a few bar bookings.
Does anyone know if some of the Fresh Meat from the first season that haven't returned were ever asked back? Like Aviv, Chanda, Linette, Johnnie, or Jesse?
Isn't it weird how two DC cast members made more of an impression/impact than all four Cancun members who have appeared on a challenge. Cancun had pretty decent ratings with a ton of drama and DC was very laid back.
Does anyone know if some of the Fresh Meat from the first season that haven't returned were ever asked back? Like Aviv, Chanda, Linette, Johnnie, or Jesse?
Probably because they were boring. Diem had the whole "cancer" thing, Kenny had the looks, Evan was a great competitor, Casey was kinda like the "new Katie" in a way, except much worse. I have no idea why Ryan and Eric were asked back so many times though, i guess they needed a gay dude. I guess Eric was kind of interesting.
I actually think Johnny and Chandra could've brought something interesting to the challenges, especially in The Duel. Chandra would've killed, but they brought Casey instead :(
