I never said Pierce was not capable. I was inferring that he is arrogant and sometimes speaks to inflate himself before failing at what he said he would accomplish.
So who is going to win, Lakers vs. Celtics?
As an um...unbiased observer, I'd say Celtics in 5.
p.s. Where did Sean go? He was really big on this Hawks team. It is like he has vanished. :wink2:
Lakers haven't lost a home game in the playoffs, I look for the same in this series. The Lakers aren't the Magic. Lakers in 6 !! Even though I'm rooting for Boston.
Lakers... better team. Celtics... hungry. It's a virtual toss-up for me. I'm pulling for the Lakers simply because I'd rather a team from the West win than anyone other than the Cavs from the East.
I'm pulling for the Lakers
I swear that just a post ago you were pulling for the Celtics.
I'm rooting for Boston.
Although maybe rooting and pulling are two different things?
As it was with the Cardinals, so it is with the Suns. No more NBA until the fall and the beginning of a new season. My guess is we will keep or manage to keep everyone but Amare. It would be cool if he leaves for us to get Nowitski since he is now a free agent or maybe do a sign & trade to get David Lee off of the Knicks.
Celtics versus the Lakers. Not exactly happy LA got in the Finals but inn a way I like it. It's a match up that has a lot of history behind it. So I can't wait to see this start. But of course I'm pulling for the Green :D

LOL !! Two different people.

Clearly I wasn't paying close attention the other day, haha.
Loving the Beat LA chants at the Red Sox game and can't wait until tomorrow night. Especially after that slimy comment in the LA Times about Paul Pierce...
(Edit: Looks like the stabbing comment was pulled.)
It is one thing to build rivalry. It is another to mock another's misfortune and near death experience.
Boston fans will keep this in mind over the next week when we cheer our team on and give them that little extra that they need to prevail. Nothing like a great quote, blown up and placed on the locker of Paul Pierce to make this fun and make the difference.

That definitely crossed the line. Oh yes! Let's poke fun at how someone was attacked and almost killed and how brave and inspiring they were to come back to the game so quickly after. You're right, that is a horrible thing to have in a player or person you admire. Disgusting.
I was going to link to the cached version but that seems to be edited now too along with the KTLA version.
We definitely won't forget it and sadly that is the level of class of the majority of Lakers fans that I've met. I dislike Lakers fans way more than Yankees fans and you know that is saying something.
Beat L.A.!!
I think the best part was when Bill Simmons called them out on it too and was like "There's always Google Cache!! Here's the link!!"
Haha I know! That's where I went to go check the articles again. :) I agree with him though that we shouldn't be so quick to make people apologize but that was just too far over the line to be remotely acceptable.
I'm rooting for Boston because of Rajon Rondo !! I actually played a pick up game in Lexington, Kentucky with him in '05, it was awesome. Plus UK is my Alma mater and I root like hell for anybody in the NBA who played for UK in college.
Clearly, there are many here who know a good bit about basketball and the NBA, so I have some questions:
-When being drafted by the NBA, are you signed with a team before you actually make a draft (that's the best way I can word it)?
-When playing in the draft, are you playing against actual NBA stars?
-When it comes to basketball teams overseas, has anyone ever heard of steroids being given to the team mates?
I'm asking because someone I know might be lying out of their ***.

Unless you are the first player selected in the draft, then you rarely already have signed a contract or an agreement to play for that team. You don't play in the draft but once you are drafted then you will probably play against NBA stars.
I've never heard of steroids being given out overseas. I do know that many US college basketball players go to Europe to play because their training camps are tremendously intensive 8 hours a day. If you are not actually doing drills then you are studying film or eating/sleeping/studying.

Okay, that clears it up. Thanks!
If the Lakers & Kobe keep this up and beat the Celtics, then these past two finals will just further demonstrate that Kobe Bryant is a great basketball player and LeBron James is nothing more than a gimmick.
I don't think Kobe's ability has ever been in doubt, then again neither has his ego. Just think what would have happened to the Lakers if they had not sent Divac to Charlotte for Kobe in that straight up steal of a trade on draft day.
I am looking forward to the game tomorrow night. While the Celts couldn't buy a basket the other day (looks of open looks, just not getting the ball in the drain) they only need to win one road game, and defend at home.
Speaking of my beloved Celtics, I was just clicking through some of the greatest moments in NBA playoff history and came upon this gem:
YouTube - Famous Bird Steal, huge mistake by Isiah Thomas
While they did eventually lose to the Lakers in 1987, this steal will go down as my all time favorite moment in the NBA. I was just a little pup, but the moment still resonates to this day. Especially the live call ( by Johnny Most.)

That caption for Kobe was so true. That was the biggest complaint I heard last night from Lakers fans. "How dare they call the fouls on Kobe! They were ridiculous! The officials were horrible!"
I just laughed. :D See you in Beantown!!
But that is always the way it has been with Kobe. It was with Jordan too but Jordan never whined about it like Kobe or most of the Spurs. Jordan just walked off down the court like it was just part of the game. Kobe is a whiny little arrogant egotistical guy with a buttload of talent but no class. You want class & talent, check Steve Nash out.
I'm not watching but I hope the Celtics mop the floor with the Lakers.
I'm rooting for the C's, of course! (to mess with Bacchus, haha). Honestly I don't really care who wins, I will either be a winner or a loser depending on what LBJ does and nothing else matters until next season starts.
