On the island, rachel and tonya were friends and seemed to really care for each other. But on the previous challenge that they were on (inferno 2) they couldn't stand each other. What happened??? when i watched "the island" i was pretty confused and before it aired, expected them to fight.
I know that they were friends way back in "battle of the sexes 1" though.
They were not friends during taping of The Island, but Tonya had no ill will toward Rachel. Other cast members have described Rachel's behavior change as an attempt to change her image on MTV. Tonya didn't have a problem with that at all. Tonya was entirely inwardly focused because production (the executive producer) took her Dr. prescribed medication from her and perhaps intentionally caused the meltdown which ensued. Rachel and everyone else (including Kenny who really doesn't like Tonya) became concerned. It was Rachel's concern that production chose to show during the episode because it fit into the way the show played out later for Rachel.

Really? I'd recommend adjusting your viewer controls...

Not ugly, but no winner in my book.

I'm assuming you don't like her lol.
She was entertaining though, you'd have to admit it. Every single season she was on, there was drama about her. I still never really understood the drama between her and Emily. (there HAS to be more than the whole "james" thing). They NEVER showed footage of Veronica doing anything mean or bad, maybe the editors wanted to make veronica the victim? Because i remember anne, christina, and genesis bad mouthing veronica in bots1 saying she says mean things to people..hmm.....

I don't have an opinion on her one way or the other, but she doesn't like me. She made that clear a year ago when we met at MTV. Apparently my friends are her enemies. Petty, but real.
There was also the absence of Veronica's influence, lol
I would guess this might have been a good part of why Rachel acted towards Tonya the way she did on I2, among other things already discussed. Don't get me wrong, I think Rachel was capable of having her own thoughts and opinions without Veronica when she was close to her. Rachel herself has said in an interview that she was still trying to be nice to Tonya at the beginning of the challenge when Veronica and Tina already had issues with her. But when she was hanging with them constantly on that challenge, she started to not be as nice to her. We still didn't see Rachel badger or speak as bad about Tonya as Tina or Veronica, but I think the fact that Veronica and Tina were her main group of friends on that challenge may have caused her to tone down niceness towards Tonya. I also think perhaps Tonya's actions and behavior could have annoyed her as well, as she seemed to annoy quite the range of people/personalities on that challenge. But I think perhaps without Tina and Veronica feeling the way they did towards Tonya, Rachel may not have has as much a negative opinion about Tonya.
I have also noticed other people being off and on friendly with Tonya. I think some of it has to do with the way they have perceived her to have acted or behaved concerning them or just in general. I think sometimes some of these people just get mad at each other for a while and it's not a permanent grudge.

Sometimes it's just about the game and nothing more.

Later challenges showed that Veronica has the capacity to act in the way that Emily was accusing her of. I do miss Veronica for her entertainment value though, she always brought something to the show that kept me wanting to watch.
The one thing I never really got though about the Tonya and V/R thing on the Inferno 2 was that on the previous challenge that taped 5 months earlier, Tonya was in their alliance and they all seemed to get along. Plus Tina was the deciding vote in BOTS2 to vote Rachel out over Tonya and then was tight with V/R in I2. I know that obviously there's no vacuum of time between challenges and that much of it is in fact in the context of the game but at the time, I really had wanted some backstory, especially since I2 aired about a month after BOTS2

The girls team based their vote on the day's challenge performance. Tonya performed better than Rachel in that mission and was considered a better "team player" than rachel. But, Tina had an arguement with Tonya on that challenge so thats what I think, Led to the tonya vs V/R/T thing on i2
Well when Tina was explaining her vote for Rachel she said that she voted for Tonya last time and that she stepped up. Then she said "I like Tonya". She said that after that brief fight over the phone. But then way later Tonya started to annoy everyone because she was so scared about her position on the team since she did get like 2 DQ's before.
Then it got worse on the I2 cause Tonya apparently wanted more camera time and "went looking for trouble" according to Jamie and basically the whole cast.

IIRC, BOTS 2 ended January 2005 and I2 began March 7th that same year.

Tonya says it's a mystery to her, too.
Oh wow .... What a coincidence!:)
I assume your comment is intended to be funny, but I don't understand why. Could you explain please?
That situation with Tina and Tonya on that episode of BOTS2 in which Tina said she liked Tonya was a mystery to me as well. It came up out of the blue, it seemed. She got mad with her over the phone thing and told her she couldn't stand her, then later on she says she likes her, then later on is annoyed with her again. And it was weird because people said Tina was friends with Rachel and Veronica on The Gauntlet as well, so it was kind of weird she wanted to vote Rachel off over Tonya. Perhaps Tina felt that she needed someone else on her side to stay in the game, and she saw that Veronica, Rachel, and Coral were sticking together, so maybe she thought they (Veronica and Rachel) weren't going to look out for her.
As for Tonya being friends with Veronica and Rachel on BOTS2 and them not being friends with her on I2, I remember someone saying on a message board that they felt Coral was the link between those two and Tonya. I think that might be somewhat one possible explanation for them being cool with Tonya on BOTS2. Coral did get mad with Tonya on the BOTS2 reunion, but she has been friends/friendly with her on all of the challenges they've done together.
Hmmm
Tina also voted off Veronica in BOTS2 over Tonya too.
It was between them 2 in the inner circle and the girls finally won so it was just Tina, Sophia, and Arissa. They basically asked "Who's the stronger player?" Then Tina said "Or who do you want on the final team." Then Veronica went home over Tonya..i felt that was a little weird.
And after that little phone fight, Tina said Tonya redeemed herself after the missions by doing well and said she wasn't going to vote for her..then coral and veronica got pissed and was like "you're not ever going to vote for her cause she redeemed herself that one time?!"
Also when Veronica voted off Cynthia (inner circle had 3 people), Tina called them b.itches..agh so confusing...but yeah they're still friends as of now though.
This is a new topic... I was watching Battle of the Sexes 1 over on the archive website recently and noticed that they had a team challenge of Dead Man's Drop in Episode 2. Out of roughly 30 or so people only Puck and Ruthie could do 7 minutes and most could only last 2 or 3 min. My question then is how the hell did Sarah vs. Irulan in Dead Man's Drop in The Gauntlet last for over 45 minutes. How could these 2 average at best girls out-do the entire cast of BOS1 by such a wide margin? The game looked to me to be exactly the same. Is there anyone that can explain this?
I'm watching The Inferno III and I noticed that Susie hit Ace, allegedly on the face and like 3 times. Is that actually what hapenned? Anyone know why she wasn't sent home?

Double standard!!! He would look like the biggest ****** if he sent a female home for slaping him.

I HAVE NO IDEA..........
I know in the gauntlet when other people did "dean man's drop" they didn't last long at all. One of them only lasted like a minute, some of them didn't show the time. It's really hard for me to believe that they lasted 48 minutes..wouldn't they get brain damage since their blood is rushing to their head????

Susie was just reacting to what she percieved to be an attack.

BOTS2 was a really bad season IMO. I really didn't like the rules of the inner circle thing. How if you lost the mission the rest of them had to deliberate on who in the inner circle should go home and how there were leaders, it was dumb...They should've kept the point system and had the top 3 players be the inner-circle. It was nice to see the rankings and people getting kicked off who didn't have the lowest score.
The only thing i liked in that season (BOTS2) was the Rachel vote off (Again) and Ayanna Vs. Aneesa. Usually when someone mentions that they had problems on a show before, there would be flashbacks. But when Aneesa said there was drama on the last battle of the sexes with her and Ayanna, there was no flashback clip lol...probably because they skipped that whole drama to focus on Puck! =( =( The whole Angela thing was so annoying, i felt so bad for her..
I hope they do another Battle of the Sexes and use the point system and the scoreboard! It also showed how some people were selfish since most of the missions were individual challenges rather than team stuff. All they cared about was getting the most points to get into the inner circle (Emily).
Yeah, they didn't show the drama between Ayanna and Anessa at all (on BOTS1). If I hadn't read a review Lori wrote on it, I would not have known they had an issue with each other. I really need to watch that challenge all over again and read the reviews the cast gave right after. I watched the first episode weeks ago, but I am trying to follow Battle of the Seasons again and now I've started watching RW New Orleans (most of which I missed originally).
Okay so in the gauntlet 1, Irulan and Sarah hung on for 48 minutes in "dead man's drop"...But in BOTS1 Ruthie won the mission by hanging on for 7 minutes and the majority of the cast dropped at around 2-3 minutes. Did Irulan and Sarah really hang on for that long? It seems somewhat exaggerated....
They did, and Sarah apparently suffered long-term damage to her body as a result. Clearly, due to the earlier "trial" of this event, BMP wasn't expecting anyone to hang on longer than a few minutes.
