Last nights episode (thanks travis yanan)
Real World: Back to New Orleans
- 1.987 million viewers
- 1.3/2 HH
- 1.1/3 A18-49
- 2.3/7 W18-34
Ouch pretty big fall
It isn't that bad, it wasn't a big decrease.
Episode 1 - 1.261
Episode 2 - 1.692
Episode 3 - 1.705
Episode 4 - 1.738
Episode 5 - 1.750
Episode 6 - 2.043
Episode 7 - 2.202
Episode 8 - 1.987
Average of Calculations = 1.797 million viewers
rounded to 1.800
meaning this season has done a whole lot better than the previous 3.
Ratings are still good! With so much buzz coming off this episode I assume next week we may see an all time season high. Still better than the last three season.
I'm pretty sure Brooklyn averaged only about 1.6 million viewers. It started off really high, but ended really low. Cancun ended up averaging slightly higher at about 1.7 million viewers. It started low at 1.4 million viewers but then quickly and consistently recieved 1.7-1.8 million viewers and had the season finale breaking 2 million. I think DC averaged about 1.4 and performed similarly to Brooklyn. And apparently this season is averaging about 1.8 million and is doing pretty well. I think by seasons end, NOLA will average somewhere between 1.9-2.0 million viewers making it about a 500,000-600,000 viewer increase over its previous season.

Wow, I thought producer said this season is better than the others opinion wise not ratings wise haha
I just don't have it in me right now...
But I'd love to see the A18-49 breakdown over the last 4 seasons.
Anyone in research mode?
We would learn a lot about the future of the show if we could understand the trend and past vs. present.
You drive for Show (viewers) you putt for Dough (A18-49.)
Bacchus I would but it's against the rules to post non-published Neilson data and its against the rules to put any Neilson data in summary or chart form. As I don't believe that those numbers were published prior to DC, I have that info but I can't post it (because I work in the industry and live in constant fear!). This season has improved although not as drastically as others have indicated. Just know that this year about 75% of viewers are A18-49 and that that is typical of past seasons, so looking at the overall rating is a decent indicator of A18-49. 1 A18-49 point represents somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.3 million people.
Oh man! That roast was EPIC. No offense, but I would have watched it for the 9th time instead of see that Jemmye chick mutter a bunch of words that arn't recognizable and act like that dumb psycho girl every guy dreads.

You can get in trouble for this? I doubt it. We have people doing it for other shows on other boards and I never once heard of it being against company rules. But then again...

Allow me to be clear. I can get fired for posting unreleased ratings. Many other people, like those who don't have careers in advertising, can't be fired for this. But Nielson has very clear rules about what can be done with their numbers, and posting unreleased numbers without permission violates those rules, as does making a chart of numbers. If you do it, whatever, but I could lose my career, which at one point revolved solely around TV advertising (thank God it's broadened).
This past week's episode did fall out of the top ten in A18-34, no real surprise given the numbers. I don't have the data but I'd have to imagine its still top 20 no problem.
Quite frankly, I told a lot of my friends who used to watch the show back when we were younger that they HAD to tune in for this season around week 4, and now I regret doing that, because each week the show gets more and more boring. So much manufactured drama. It's like the producers forgot that people having fun also makes for good tv (see Shore, Jersey) - young people doing dumb things has always been my favorite part of the show, and you can't tell me Knight doesn't do something like iron a carpet at least once a day. So I'm not surprised the ratings have dropped.
There is something about this season I don't like beyond the cast but I cannot put my finger on it. Something in the filming/editing is off to me. It's not well lit when they are out, the music is off, there seems to be more blurry shots as walls seem to get in the way, and/or something else. The episodes just drag along, but I cannot come up with a smoking gun reason.....
Episode 9 ranked 3rd overall in A18-34 for the week after missing top ten last week (1 Jersey Shore, 2 Kardashians). Beat not only the usual host of suspects but also a few NFL games, which even in this demographic, even in the preseason, is tough to do.
It was up 18% in the A18-34 demographic over last week.
when i saw the challenge marathon on VH1, I wondered if maybe it and RW were going to get moved over to there next.
Wow. That would be terrible.
Wow. That would be terrible.
As long as VH1 is in HD, it wouldn't be that terrible. It wouldn't be as stressful as MTV because they could make a long term contract.
It is not guaranteed, but im sure if the next season does just as well or near.. they should renew the series
I can't imagine MTV or BMP wants to wait to see what next season looks like. If I understand correctly, the season they are filming now is the last one on the current contract. The production schedule dictates that they need to decide within the next 2 months or so to have uninterrupted airings. If they're gonna renew without changing anything, we'll know soon.
RW B2NO was actually included in MTV's summer ratings press release

No, they're currently filming 25- the contract goes until 26.

Thanks. Then ignore everything I said and push the timeframe I noted back 6 months.
