I don't disagree, which is why I don't discount Diem, even though I doubt she could win on her own merits.
As for the twist you mentioned, I would venture to guess that once the final 2 or 3 of each gender are established, maybe they will pair up as male/female duos and compete in the final mission together, thus making it important to the men which women stay around. Simply a guess, but that would make things interesting.
Agreed. Diem would never make it so far by herself. Actually ssseeaaann that is a really cool idea and would not mind seeing that. I like the idea.
Still, I am very happy at the departure of Paula and Dunbar. I was beginning tot hink they were going to go further, but they didn't which helps. This Challenge has done really good in weeding out the annoying, and the weak.

Such a wag, without name attached, probably belongs is a different thread, and, unfortunately, you are not even warm. Speculation is pointless, which is why I said you will probably have to wait until April. Even then we may need help from cast members to understand how their individual and alliance strategies were affected.
That's pretty cool to see that the two Wisconsin people on this challenge from the mens & womens side are sticking together. I have to cheer for the people from my home state, although Landon would've been my pick to win anyway from the start. CT was his only competiton and since he's gone, it's Landon's to lose.
Is there anyone who would bet on Diem winning? Seriously, anyone?
If Diem makes it to the final challenge (which I dont think will happen) She would be my pick against anyone

Bacchus, we need a companion offshore betting site. I have a burning need to take all of ejborys22's money.

Hahah agreed.
I am more towards a combination of Landon and Jenn/Rachel/Tori.

Lol... She is very fast and I believe a runner. If she is able to make people feel sorry for her which she is very good at, she can very well make it to the finals and If she does my money would be on her!
guys Diem didn't do that bad on duel1 and G3. Yes she relies on other people to get to the next round but that is a very good strategy.. she was in 4th place in both FM and duel1. and made it to the finals on G3 (and we all know what happened there) She proved she is a good runner and can endur a lot during the 1st duel.. Idk she can very well do this.
Dunbar is a big guy, he looks to be over 200 pounds and he's pretty muscular. He's not carrying around babyfat like Syrus and Eric are. Just because somebody weighs a lot doesn't mean they're physically strong. I'd have a hard time believing guys like Syrus and Eric could even bench press their own bodyweight or even squat 150% of their bodyweight coefficient.
That was my point. He could be muscular, fatter or bigger in weight but it doesn't mean it'll be hard for someone like Brad or Landon to beat him (who are not the biggest guys left).

Diem's fine, but I don't think she's special or exceptional in any way. I think most of the other women left wouldn't have much trouble taking her out. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if she was the next woman to go home, though her alliance might be keeping her in.
I'll be very curious in April to see the twist in the rules and how it might be benefiting some people. The thing that seems pretty certain is that a strong person of the opposite sex is helpful in doing well in this game. Ugh, April seems so far away! I really hope MTV/BMP continues with posting daily clips; I think they give so much more insight into strategy and alliances, as well as just generally showing fun things that wouldn't make it to the show.
All 12 cast members who remain have strong skills in something. This is particularly true on the men's side where all six guys appeared to be in good shape coming into the challenge, even MJ who arrived late. With Paula's departure, the social dynamic should undergo a change. Without the potential conflict among Rachel, Jenn and Paula, things should be a little more calm on the ladies' side (but not quiet), while it would not surprise me that the remaining men are all going to take the high road in both their social and physical game play.
Instead of having the final episodes filled with random drunken hookups, we might actually see some really interesting competition footage which BMP normally leaves on the cutting room floor (figuratively speaking, since the days of film are sadly long over).

Brad isn't that physically strong I don't think. He isn't that big or aggressive. Abe knocked him all over the place in their Inferno a few challenges back and Abe isn't one of the bigger guys on these shows by any stretch. It'd take a fluke or a miracle like what happened on the first Duel for Brad to beat somebody like Evan, Mark, Landon, or Dunbar in any elimination that was centered around physical strength.

Strike Dummybear from the list (and add MJ). Dunbar was sent packing by XXXXX. You must not have read our cast departure spoiler thread.
Without the potential conflict among Rachel, Jenn and Paula
Hmm...wonder what that's all about. I had noticed during the filming that Paula had bypassed Rachel on Jenn's top myspace friends and that they were leaving each other comments. Jealousy from Rachel perhaps?

Sooo Derek? Good, I'm glad he's showing to be very competitive after his loss i nthe Gauntlet 3, which in any other Gauntlet he would have won.

I said this before, and I could be totally wrong, but I just don't see Paula and Rachel getting along, especially after the Island. But it sounds like maybe it was more complicated than that.
Brad isn't that physically strong I don't think. He isn't that big or aggressive.
I'd have to disagree with "not that big." Brad is pretty gigantically muscular, moreso than a few of the other guys left. That doesn't necessarily translate into being better at anything, though. But I don't think he's easy pickings by any means, and depending on the duel game, I think he has a shot at some of the guys left, though I think matches between a lot of these guys could be toss-ups.
I know Dunbar has been eliminated, I was just saying that Brad wouldn't have much of a chance against him in anything pertaining to physical strength. A lot of these guys on the shows are not as big as you think they are. Brad is 180 pounds tops, that isn't very big for somebody who is 6 feet tall, it's average size. He also has toothpicks for legs and anybody who knows anything about athletics knows that you get the most out of yourself from your lowerbody strength. Brad isn't the best competitor, he's not the worst. He's middle of the pack; average, yet consistent.

I'd have to disagree with you, I think Brad could take Dunbar. Sure Dunbar is bigger than him, but Dunbar just doesn't seem very strong to me even though he is bigger than some of the other guys. He was getting tossed around on The Island in the faceoff he was in by Derrick, who is probably half his size (the name of that faceoff escapes me). Another thing is that physical strength isn't everything, Brad seems to have a much better mental and social game than Dunbar. I think anyone could beat Dunbar in a puzzle because he doesn't seem like the type of guy that could keep his cool in that situation.
Hey V1, I have a favor... haha.
Can you just tell us [me], if you even know of course, if Brooke went out with a fight in her duel? Or did she lose horribly. Haha. :)
Cause I think I remember you saying that she tried to get out of the challenge at the last minute, if I remember correctly, so from there I knew her head wouldn't be in it.
has anyone else wondered if Paula sabatoged her own duel, just to go home with Dunbar? lol I just could see her as being obsessed with a guy enough to do that. I guess really any girl left has all probabilities in her favor of winning against Paula, so its probably not true. I just find it a little strange that they both got sent home at the same time

"Horribly" might be a stretch, but we will not be replacing Beth and Coral's "Gauntlet of the Century" with this one in the highlight reels.

I've been pressure to accept that their relationship was entirely platonic in NZ.

I don't think Brad is a tiny guy at all, but MJ, Mark, and Landon are all more muscular than him, I'd say. I can't remember if Evan is very muscular or not, but he's one of the bigger guys, I think.
Why do people always think the bigger the better? Being big isn't always the best way to win. I think that sometimes you need the strength to do things but sometimes it can be your downfall. There are so many examples to smaller people winning that I don't need to name them. But I think everybody there would have a shot at taking out any of their opponents. It's all about who's head is better, and who can mentally take it. So I think Brad could have taken Dunbar out. It was probably very possible that Brad could have lost, but going into an elimination round, there is always a good chance at going home.
So, the bigger the better? Yes, true, SOMETIMES, but sometimes the bigger they are, the hard they fall.
And, do people here like the competition more? Or do you watch more for the drama? Over at speakreality when it was around, people were all about the fighting and stuff. I like the competition

i agree with you, being bigger is not really an advantage, it all depends on the game that you play.... and brad took out eric in duel 1 ... so eric can be easily taken out .... put him in that one game that they have to climb a ladder... he probably will have a tough time..
The producers must create contests that can equalize advantages. For example, BMP had Eric in mind when "Sliders" was created. Of course, there is often a random nature to the event anyone gets.

Someone I respect a great deal called me today to say I'm guilty with regard to Diem of the same thing I accuse many of you of doing -- living only with memories of past challenges and not allowing for someone's learning, training and deciding not to be walked over again.
Guilty as charged. It never occurred to me that Diem might actually improve. I think my view of her has been unnecessarily darkened by CT's shadow. I should know better. Lesson learned. Tori still is my favorite to win this -- as much for personal reasons as my belief that she is the most determined competitor overall.
