I only watch Real World besides the challenge but I saw a fair share of challenge ads there.

Come on ratings.... please come up....
I have a feeling the ratings will be below 1 mill tonight. With some competition from the networks coming in.
Guess we will find out if the Big Brother finale really did have that much impact

I feel like they might have lost a lot of viewers during the mission, it was boring and seemed like it dragged on and on.
I except a solid bounce this time around, nothing amazing maybe 1.4-1.5... but falling ratings later on..
I except a solid bounce this time around, nothing amazing maybe 1.4-1.5... but falling ratings later on..
I agree with the 1.5 range maybe even a little higher; however I am optimistic it will raise. This is a good season with a good cast and a lot of drama.

MTV made a risky move in the casting department, one that was just too bold...
Austin was a popular season (especially Danny and Melinda), even if the ratings are high this episode, I think they will probably be low next episode.

Sure it's late in the series but I do not want to see the usual suspects ever ever and ever again.

However, MTV practically handed the domination/win to theses people on a silver plate.... They made sure that they had the numbers from the get-go, which put the vets at a huge disadvantage... However, even this could have been managed well, but then they even had to throw in some absolutely useless or at best average competitors to represent the opposition and thus practically robbing them of any chance to make it far in the game...

I think this season would have been way better had Sydney not disappeared and we got the worst possible fresh meat team. Seeing Frank run this season makes me want to quit watching. I really hope things get more interesting.

Teeny jump, but not enough to blame on BB...and absolutely blasted by Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. THE CHALLENGE - 1.225 0.8 A 18-49
Its the Rookie Revolution! Congratulations Frank!
Up a demo point and in viewers. Nothing to celebrate about but atleast it's going up..
Up a demo point and in viewers. Nothing to celebrate about but atleast it's going up..
Yeah but with so many people mad at last night's episode, I wouldn't be surprised to see a drop next week.
To be fair, it needs to recover from the ratings disaster that was San Diego, which led to the ratings disaster which was St Thomas. Exes was appealing to a lot of people, in my opinion, because they wanted to see what happened between a lot of the past couples, especially big names like CT and Diem. However, this specific challenge people are going to have to grow to like since, mathematically, most viewers didn't watch the two seasons that are ironically getting a good chunk of the air time. (St Thomas/San Diego).

St. Thomas was a bit better than San Diego, but you have 2 seasons of a fairly overall lame group of people. It's time they bring in some funny, interesting, and non self-absorbed people.
I definitely think that this season will be like St. Thomas. Lame beginning, but it picked up a lot, yet the ratings stayed pretty low. I think that will be the path of this challenge. It's just funny how the people exploded in pure joy when they saw the trailer of this challenge and they liked the fresh air and now two episodes later, they want JEK back.

I never want to see those jokers again. Hopefully they continue bringing in new people.
I think people shouldn't be so negativ about this challenge. In my opinion the first episode was really good. And the second episode was not bad because of the cast, it was more because both the challenge and the arena were bad designed. I think they should just make more challenges were you have a kind of obstacle course, which you have to finish as a group, like the wedding-challenge on bote. I hope in the next episodes they have to work together more, so you can see more of how good they are when they have to support eachother or if they just scream at their teammates.
You're totally on the money. I never want to see those jokers again. Hopefully they continue bringing in new people.
Same here. NOTHING will EVER make me want To have JEK back on these shows and I do mean NOTHING.
St. Thomas wasn't a very good season and I think after having two terrible seasons in a row for the real world, people are just giving up with the real world and the challenges. Lets be honest, the St Thomas drama on twitter is more entertaining than their actual season.. I think everyone should give this challenge a chance because it's going to be a good season. MTV gave us new people just like we wanted so everyone should just see how it unfolds.
The ratings are sad because this is a really good season. But it's not surprising. MTV isn't nearly as invested in the RW franchise as they are their other shows. When it comes to promoting, reruns, etc RW is at the very bottom of their list. I don't know how they expect it to survive when they don't put much effort in. Still hard to tell what the fate will be of both shows though. Hopefully MTV will keep them around but idk.
The formula of the show works but the cast is awful. It is the rookie revolution because over half the cast is rookies!! Not having the Vets doesn't hurt the gameplay but what JEK, CT, Paula, Evelyn, Wes bring to the challenge is the commentary. They are great in the interviews and during the show. Someone like Zach is a beast and he is probably going to do really well on these shows but he is so monotoned in all his interviews its ridiculous. I'm all about bringing in new blood to the challenge but it needs to be a mix with the Vets, not a full on replacement of the Vets. I don't want to watch team San Diego go against a bunch of nobodies like Cancun, Brooklyn, St. Thomas and New Orleans. I want to watch them have to work against a Key West team or a FM1 team and really prove themselves against the guys who have been running these shows for the last few years.
I don't see how the cast looks like a diaster. The challenges last night were a disaster, but people just want to complain and be negative. I am hopeful for this season. I think it has major potential based on the previews.
If you watch primarily for drama then I would agree. Many don't. You have to remember the "viewers" of the challenge are split between people that still watch the Real World and those that don't. Those that don't really have no idea who most of these people are at this point. FM, Alton, Trishelle, Jasmine & Sarah are about it, So, that may cost them about half their viewers if those teams go home soon. 20 of the 32 cast members had done 1 challenge or less. 15 had never done a challenge. That's a horrible mix--it simply wasn't well thought out. They shouldn't have included St. Thomas from beginning. That should have been DC, Denver, Key West, an old school RW team (combo), etc. Even a RR team would have been fine. There was a way to avoid this but they didn't come up with it. It also doesn't help that the new teams aren't likable. Many "older viewers" are going to bail IMO
Yeah but with so many people mad at last night's episode, I wouldn't be surprised to see a drop next week.
Not that I think you're wrong, but are "so many people" really mad about last night's episode? Do you just mean on vevmo/the internet fans? I only ask because everybody I know (more casual fans) has been loving this season so far (despite the fact that everybody hates Frank). Now I know I'm talking about a teeny teeny tiny group of people, but still have there been a ton of complaints about this episode outside of the episode thread? I'm not on Twitter so I can't gauge how people felt on there, but just curious.

I wasn't mad at the show because of being a hardcore fan, I was mad at the show because of how little sense it made. I haven't been this mad at an episode of this show since the incredibly biased edit Jenn got on the Rivals reunion, but even that I only knew of because of the internet. Whether or not I was on this website, I'd have hated the episode last night. Just like I hated The Island and I was on no forum when that season aired.
