I mean they're also at the tail end so you're operating under the guise there's another chance. Which if there is defeats the purpose of going into elimination for a star.

Why wouldn't there be another chance, allstars 3 had a double elimination seconds before the final. On total madness they had double elims for the last two eliminations. They could do a random bloodbath and have the winner steal a star. This show is so arbitrary with its rules. Jay had options, he chose the worst one.

That's also a flaw in the system because there's no consequences for not taking a shot. And that's why they're comfortable doing that.

And, Jay's misstep was not saving Steve when Leroy is a bad swimmer and eh in puzzles.

Jay getting praise for CHOOSING to go in on elimination all about colors when he is colorblind is more stupid than him quitting for not being able to eat gross food. What a loser.

I mean, this was his only shot the entire season. He's been second or third in nearly every daily. If he got purged for not trying here, he would NEVER live it down. He's been the "Guy Who Couldn't Drink the Drink" for a literal DECADE.

I get that, but also the odds are there that there is at least one other shot. I mean, I'd love if TJ was now just like "Well that was it, if you don't have a star you're out" but the odds are very small of that happening. So, Jay could have taken the risk Ryan and Laurel are taking. We will see how it plays out.

Jay also could have taken Steve's place, as I said, since Leroy is less comfortable than Steve in water. That tells me it was more about Jay's 'word' than playing smart to make the final.

Right. I very much wish it was just like "That's it" but feel like there's a non-zero chance there is some type of challenge remaining that will allow more to make the final.

That close up on Steve made me uncomfortable

Honestly they can't have it both ways, if you're going to force everyone to go into elimination you cant get mad that they only want to volunteer for one's they know they can win.

Adam vs Steve is so funny lmao

Adam HATES him? His confessional was wild lol

Has there ever been a show with the "win elimination to go in" mechanic that has just cut the non-qualifiers without warning?  I don't think so.  If you know you're going to get a chance regardless, I don't know why you would ever volunteer to go into elimination.

I would love to see the faces of everyone without a star if TJ just purged them all.  Ain't going to happen, though...

In that scenario you'd go in if the elimination favored you because counting on winning some mini-final to make a final is also a risk. Like, Ryan probbaly had a better chance of winning that elimination we just saw than some physical/endurance challenge where has has to beat Adam and Derek (if that's what happens next).

Yes! It would be gold TV, so why tf wouldn't they do it? TJ could easily just say, "I've been telling you all season you want a star and to go in, sorry your time is over." The reactions would be crazy!

My mouth was dropped open how we went from 22 years of being closr friends to that. Anyone know if they made up?

I forgot about the mini-final deal they tend to do; you're right about that.  If a challenger knows they will win a physical elimination (a la Fessy when he sees Hall Brawl), they should absolutely go in.  If they're smaller and bad at puzzles but are more athletic and can distance run, it may benefit them to just wait for the mini final.

despite this being kind of a dissapointing for averey gameplay wise, i think that if she gains some confidence she can be a great addition to the flagship

I'm taking my chances over literal suicide.

from his perspective he didn't know if there was going to be another chance at all. they had no way of knowing if tj was just gonna be like 'alright guys without stars, get out of here.'

additionally, even if there will be a final challenge for the 4th star, he had to choose between going against one person in this elim, or go against three people at once in a 4 way 'elimination' for it. so if both options for him suck, might as well stick to his word so that he has his dignity.

hingsight is 2020, jay made the wrong decision but from his point of view before knowing what was going to happen next, and in the heat of the moment, it's sort of understandable for him to take his chances

Do yall think ryan and laurel were tipped off by production that there would be another chance or just a lucky gamble? Nobody else seems so sure there will be another opportunity for a star

I wouldn't put it past them to tell Laurel....but Ryan is disposable. Doubt they seriously care about what he does...

I do agree, it would be weird for production to care about ryan. So maybe laurel told him?

screaming at Adam acting like its unreasonable for steve to take his star. Yea this why i always disliked him on old seasons lmao

if jay didnt go in tj would have called him out (i dont think he did laurel but he definitely would have jay) plus maybe jay thought by saving leroy mtv would give him another chance. unfortunately we all know that didnt happen.

what adam said was insane. like dude, YOU voted him in.  why wouldnt he take your star? and then in the preview to say steve made a random decision about him!? WHAT!?

I feel like Averey is lucky she's as pretty and naturally athletic as she is which will buy her another chance on the show but I almost want to reach out to her on social media and BEG her to bring MORE to the show.

I have no idea if she's cool with doing one or two more of these shows or she would like to do five+ more, but she better bring more from a social/political side or it will definitely be a short return for her. Get into some unnecessary drama!

Funny how Jay went in on Laurel for being scared and not keeping her word when he proved how it was logical for her to turn that elimination down. You don't step down to eliminations you know you'll be at a disadvange in you idiot!

And Adam irrationally going in on Steve for taking his star after he voted for him was hilarious.

I never liked him either.  This, though, is almost too over the top and looks kinda fake tbh.

It's different though: Laurel wouldn't have been at a disadvantage to Cara in that elim. Kam who was postpartum was keeping up with Cara, Laurel who is in better shape would have been fine too.

Laurel wanted a guarantee win (likely where her size could be used) not one that could be somewhat close. It's both smart but scared. That's what Jay was calling out and he was right.

It'd be different if it'd been something like pole wrestle, something Cara is known for winning against a larger opponent but it was just mental/ endurance comp which Laurel is as good as or better than Cara overall.

She 100% would have been at a disadvantage, she'd be cramped in that tiny cage, not able to move her long arms as easily as someone smaller would.

Assuming she has longer fingers, though, those would have helped her move the balls more easily.

Also, they weren't actually in a cage were they? I thought there was a caged platform over a small pool, essentially. The main part of the challenge was getting all of your balls to the hole to get them out, which longer fingers would help a lot in doing. They then just had to get out of a pool 10 times to put a ball in a container a few feet away.

Laurel 100% wouldve been at a disadvantage lmao, its equivalent to why Mattie lost against Dee.

Exactly. Idk if she got tipped off but Laurel as a vet may have thought that there would be some kind of opportunity at the end to still make the final. I as a viewer even think that so that would have def crossed her mind. From a production standpoint, it's pointless to just send a group of people home without being eliminated.

I feel like the way to avoid that is not going through the process of saying "I wanna go in" and not going in. You look like the dummy even if the elimination isn't suited for you. You can't predict what's it gonna look like. You have to have some level of being nonchalant because looking at Laurel and Jay both of them made it abundantly clear they wanna go in. I get why they wouldn't, but when you set everything up and pull back... yeah you look a lil goofy.

Also Laurel stated she only wanted Cara if it was physical.

You can infer even if it was an elimination that wouldn't have directly impact her, she still would've said no. She didn't even want to go in when Tina was down there and that was an easy star.

Kam addressed the baby shower stuff Cara was saying
