I never said rich people didn't have problems. I said people LIKE Ashley and Thomas who both give off the vibe that the only thing they ever gone through that's a struggle is not getting the car they wanted for their birthday. I doubt they came on the show for anything else other than party and hook-up with people.
I personally do believe Ashley has issues BUT my point was that I don't believe she came on the show for that. I think she clearly came on the show because she's a model and wants to make a bigger name for herself. As for Thomas I highly doubt he came on the show for anything else other than him being a frat kid with money who was looking for a break from college.
Whatever happened to casting people who wanted to change? Bad Girls Club JUST went back to casting for that reason after a couple "bad" seasons. I wonder why RW didnt try it.

That's what I find odd. It's sad that Bunim Murray produces both shows and they don't realize the key to saving one is taking a look at the other. I also think they should actually use some of the girls who try out for The Real World instead of sending them on Bad Girls Club. I know Jenn from Bad Girls Club: Atlanta auditioned for The Real World and went she took her psych exam they thought she was a better fit for Bad Girls Club instead. She also had a story perfect for The Real World which was her fighting to prove she had stability so her brother could get out of foster care.

I see what you're saying but MTV isn't going to keep renewing a show that can't even break a million viewers or is but just barely... Nielsen is dated but it's what networks use to give advertisers which is most important because that's how they make their money. I feel like you guys recycle the same excuses every season, the show just isn't appealing to people for some reason anymore... Maybe MTV will give the show one more season to see how it goes but I'm not that optimistic considering before this season we all read how important it is that it does well and how the ratings for it will determine whether the show continues or not.

They honestly don't even have to go outside the United States to have a good show they just need to quit picking people who are only there for their 15 minutes of fame.

The whole "oh people don't watch tv live" argument is a load of *******. Next week the new season of Duck Dynasty is going to premier and it's going to do AT LEAST ten times the amount of viewers that the premier of this episode did. The generic reality show that is The Real World means nothing in the now specific reality tv demographic.

The earlier seasons had roommates from abroard , I think the main reason is filming aftershows, reunion and promotion stuff becomes harder and more expensive when they are from a foriegn country other than Canada. The recent RW season tend to fly in and out of L.A and New York , several times a week before,during and after filming/airing.

If this show gets cancelled the challenges will follow suit.
I guess I find it hard to complain about the cast just being in it for 15 minutes of fame because that isn't exactly new. That's been going on for at the very least 17 seasons or so.
I'm not defending the cast or anything, because I don't find them particularly interesting, but it's not like suddenly the show decided to cast fame-*****s. It's easy to forget but back in the day, all those cast members were living their RW dream and moving to LA and doing as many appearances as they can. Some people just try and stretch their 15 minutes out longer.
Do I think it's gotten a bit worse and maybe the cast this year is especially "aware"? Yes. I also don't think it's easy to find people who aren't aware of the camera and what to do when a show has been on for over 20 years and we're far into the reality tv age.
Sometimes I think TRW is in a lose-lose situation. It's either too fake and forced or too boring.

The Real World is like a job though. The only way you're going to get a promotion at a job is by hard work. The issue with people coming on the show looking for 15 minutes of fame now is they aren't putting in the work. You can't come on the show hook-up with a bunch of people, get blacked out drunk, and expect people to remember you five years from now. The difference between people from The Real World then and now is that even though people back then may have came on the show for fame they was also willing to take the experience for what it was and learn and grow from it. The most memorable Real World alumni are the ones who got a little crazy but also brought substance to the show.

Yeah, I would agree with that. I'm still holding out hope that this cast will surprise me. I mean, they probably won't but I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to Real World at this point anyways.

I'm hoping myself. I'm a fan of hot messes and crazy fights but I like when I'm able to learn and take things from the show which I think most people would agree with.
the producer need to stop bringing actors and models to the show because all they gon do is act and pose for the camera.. come on production use common sense start bringing average people living together who is there for the experience
Aww man :( I guess this show won't make it to season 30. I bet it's going to be cancelled after this season. Such a shame because it's been my favorite show ever since I was 13. But I do agree that the show is not as good as it used to be. I have never seen any of the seasons from the 90's though. But alot of the earlier seasons that I watched in the early 2000's were better than many of the recent seasons. Like Real World Chicago was the best!
The ratings may be awful but I highly doubt MTV would not commission a 30th season. It's an impressive milestone and they could advertise it as the final season. A return to New York and an end to one of their most successful franchises

theres no way they wouldnt do a 30th season (even if this was season 48, i couldnt see them NOT going to season 50)

I don't understand why they would cast actors and models.... I hate to break it to this cast but they aren't going to get famous from the real world, if anything it will hurt their careers.
The last time they did an overall good casting for a season was Vegas2. I don't want the real world to end but they need to close it with the 30th season.

Talking and viewing are two completely different things. Viewership brings in the money and that's the only thing that matters. However, many people may tune in when the exes show up but that may be too little too late. If the next two episodes bomb like the premiere then I don't see much of a chance of seeing a significant influx of viewers to save the Real World.
