If the Real World was promoted on Lifetime, Oxygen, VH1 and MTV I guarantee the premiere would have gotten like 2 or 3 million viewers.
Yea, cause that will happen...
You would be wrong. There's a reason it still happens in about 50% of states - it's still allowed.
Allowed? Since when?
Allowed? Since when?
Since always? I don't know. They've never outlawed discrimination based on sexual orientation. Some states are still slow on the progressive uptake, namely Texas, where Marlon is from.
You can't have the success that Vegas 2 had and follow it up with SD2. Which was horrendous all the way around.
Well said.
Since always? I don't know. They've never outlawed discrimination based on sexual orientation.
Being ******** hurts his chances of getting a job? That's illegal in almost half of the United States.
Technically I meant to say and being on TRW. Yes, it's discrimination but employers are already very reluctant with employing these guys from reality television. He could be lying but I don't necessarily consider Marlon ********. Though it depends on how many times and what he did with said individual.
Would people really be pissed about Joi leaving? This is just my opinion, but watching the premiere it seemed obvious that they weren't putting any focus on her since she'll be gone soon anyway. Maybe some did like her, but honestly I didn't see near enough of her to form an opinion.
Yes. After I saw her on the list back when Molds first did her page I was all for Joi and when I heard she left and till this day am upset. Pissed would be a strong word.
Technically I meant to say and being on TRW. Yes, it's discrimination but employers are already very reluctant with employing these guys from reality television.
That part I definitely agree with. I don't think some people realize how much being on reality television kills their chances at certain careers. No one wants to see someone with anger issues, or someone who drinks far too much, or someone who has both. There is likely a reason many MTV personalities do not have jobs beyond bartending, waitressing and doing tours - and those who do have moved on from their stints on television.
Yea, cause that will happen...
they can make it happen because Bunim/Murray is the producer of project runway which is on lifetime bad girls club which is oxygen and a vh1 show they have the power to do it
they can make it happen because Bunim/Murray is the producer of project runway which is on lifetime bad girls club which is oxygen and a vh1 show they have the power to do it
Sorry, but producers don't have the power of promotion. That is entirely within the purview of the network (MTV)and not BMP. (You missed the Kardashians on "E," also produced by Jon Murray.) I'm not sure there is much overlap between Project Runway and RW, but there are certainly places within the VIACOM network family were reciprocal ad time should have been available.
The end of The Real World it looks like. Those are really bad ratings. The Challenge will likely do better. Going out big on Challenge 25 with the Duel and not renewing either seems like a possibility now.

Going out big on Challenge 25 with the Duel and not renewing either seems like a possibility now.
Unless MTV wants to completely redo the challenges by including Washington Heights, Jersey Shore and Teen Moms casts, then without RW, there is no challenge future. My impression from talking to Jon Murray just before the Brooklyn season aired is that he would want to take RW elsewhere. Of course, he sold BMP a couple of years ago, so I'm not sure he gets to make that kind of decision now. Hey BMP internet watchers, could you ask Jon about the above and get back to us, please?
If the real world end they still can do a challenge with the people they already have
If the real world end they still can do a challenge with the people they already have
They should have auditions to bring new people if real world ends and the challenge continues
They should have auditions to bring new people if real world ends and the challenge continues
As the cast becomes more and more stale every day... For recent (real rookies) cast members, none are well enough known (by less than one percent of the US population)to sustain the show as a profit entity. It's always ONLY about the bottom line to VIACOM.
If the real world end they still can do a challenge with the people they already have
So we learned nothing from the disaster of the Spring Break idea, equal in brilliance only to the wonder called "Viewer's Revenge?"
Viewer's Revenge was a terrible idea, you won't hear me disagree. However, I have to say on a regular RW or RR, I think Tori, Dan, and David could have been very interesting cast members. Maybe even some of the Pit Crew would have been too. (Not that they aren't already, but we would have been able to learn more about them).

But really, Viewer's Revenge's big fault was execution and poor casting. This season I believe that people just don't care about the show anymore.
Maybe they should cast a season with mostly introverts and put them in positions where they will really have to come out of their shell instead of people who are already comfortable with a party lifestyle. Or maybe they should cast a season with a much wider range of ages and people at different points in their lives because that is sure to raise some interesting moments. Maybe before the show has to take it's death kneel, they should try something really different as far as the cast and take one wild shot in the darkness, At the very least, please cast an Asian Male. I don't know why they have not caste one is so long, I know some have to be auditioning. At the end of the day I am just tired of them casting the same archetype.
Also, there are spoilers in this thread that I didn't care to see. Would appreciate it if people at least marked spoilers before discussing them.

something tells me the real world would take a year off and come back in 2015,
something tells me the real world would take a year off and come back in 2015,
IF the series does get cancelled, I wonder if they would ever consider doing a real world Vegas 2 reunited season. They did do it before with the old Vegas cast and it is one of the higher rated more recent seasons and they could have both Adam and Cooke from the beginning. I can't remember if I wrote something similar to this before but I couldn't find it.
Reunited is a separate series though which isn't in the Real World officially, that is. Think of it as a side project.
In early 2013 MTV had four shows getting between 2-5x the ratings of the real world: Teen Mom 2, Catfish, Snooki & Jwoww, and Buckwild. So they can come up with better programming.
I think that they had stellar ratings due to the controversy that was surrounding it, every one of those shows that you mentioned was at least more than once on the news last year. I'm still confused at who in the world is watching Duck Dynasty?!!
I have a stupid question. If they ever canceled the real world would they still continue the challenge? I love the challenge. The real world has changed but the challenge stays consistent imo.
If this is the last real world then I would bet money that the next challenge will be the last season if ratings don't increase above 1.5m (which they won't).
San Diego 1,Austin,Sydney,Brooklym,Las Vegas 2,Portland should all have Reunited seasons at some point. My Idea is keep challenges , once a year and cancel the RW after this season and replace it with #RetroMTV , Show The first 9 seasons , Chicago,Vegas 1 and 2, Paris,Austin,Sydney,Brooklyn,Portland (To have the premiere on Soring Break week really did hurt it lol) *thoughtout an extended period kinda like 90's nick on TeenNick. The just can't find a solid group of 7 anymore , I mean 3 really good seasons out of the last like 9 seasons and location wise I xan only see them going back to or more randon locations like St.Thomas and D.C.
I think the ratings will improve because of hurricane nia(I think she is coming next week)
