Skins - MTV

Based on the British show, of the same name, it will be airing on MTV in early 2011. Think 90210 except everyone is on coke.

Hopefully its just as good as the british version.
Think 90210 except everyone is on coke.
That's what it looks like! :D Never heard of it before but it seems interesting.
Looks interesting enough and a little edgy http://www.mtv.com/videos/misc/588181/skins-sneak-peek.jhtml#id=1650533
I don't know how I feel about this, but I will give it a shot.
I absolutely loved the first generation of Skins, so I was really hopeful about what they would do with an American version. Unfortunately, the more I hear about it, the more I think I'm going to pass. I was hoping it was going to be an adaptation with some crazy Skins-esque storylines set in the USA with a new group of characters but it appears to be more of a re-enactment of the original... kind of like the third sheet of a triplicate form at the doctor's office. It's a bummer.
Maxxie is the only character to get a major overhaul, having been turned into a girl named Tea (Tay-uh), so the 'Tony cheats on Michelle with Maxxie' storyline can presumably still happen, except now the third party in the triangle is a girl (...who is a lesbian...) instead of a boy.
If you haven't seen the first two series of the British version, definitely check them out - last I heard, they were both streaming on Netflix. If nothing else, watch the trailers below to see some of the differences for yourself. It seems really really weird..
Anyone who has watched the UK series should check out Misfits, its just as good if not better. YouTube - Alisha (Antonia Thomas) - Misfits
Misfits is way way better. I love how its like a teenage-young adult version of Heroes. Alisha's powers could be different though. I hate MTV's version of Skins so far. The British version was crap too---well in season 4 that is. I totally called that mess with Freddy. Yep, I changed my mind after after season earlier seasons through season 4. I am a huge fan of the British version of Skins, more so the first generation (Series 1 and 2) rather than the second (Series 3 and 4) and was pretty excited when I heard they were making an American version. Sadly I was hoping it wouldn't be a retelling as it seems to be turning out to be with the exact same storyling for the first episode, including some of the same dialogue. I won't write the show off completely though as it could branch out on its own after a few episodes. For now I can always just anticipate the release of the British movie based on the show.
I LOVED the original Skins!!!! Lost interest during the third or fourth season when they started to focus on the younger group of kids but the original two or so seasons were so great! I'm definitely gonna check this out.
I loved UK Skins. It was great. I honestly think I'll love this too. If anyone's noticed, people are flaming the previews hardcore due to how it seems to just be an Americanized remake. It's been stated that the pilot episode is basically a shot-for-shot remake of the first episode of the UK version, but the following episodes WILL branch away from it. The writer of the original series is the executive producer of this one I believe, I'm not too sure, but that means I think we can expect something new, and interesting, while still having that "skins" feeling. Although I haven't noticed too much doubt, or QQ on here so far, I hope this clarifies a bit towards the subject, if needed. Of course, I may be quite wrong, and this could just be, well, suckish. But regardless, I think I'd be up for ANYTHING Skins. :P I can't wait for January 17! :P And the third generation cast for the UK version is up on their website. So be sure to check into that if you're into watching more Skins. :p Sorry for the seemingly out of nowhere rambling.. :o

I'm more excited for series 5 of the UK version than the MTV version. Although, I'm sure the MTV version will be pretty good. We'll soon see if it lives up to the hype.
Interesting that foreign shows are getting remade for US audiences. The Office, Skins....not sure what to make of this trend other than I like it. The stuff from Canada is okay but not edgy and a little clean-cut poppish. TV needs some new ideas in it in the States.

I've never seen the UK version of Skins, but I've heard a lot of good stuff about it. I'll try watching the US Skins tonight and see if I like it or not.

I did a bit of researching and found out that MTV Skins has a TV-MA rating as opposed to the usual TV-14 ratings most of their shows have including Jersey Shore. I'm only pointing this out because the UK version is pretty uncensored and people have been commenting on how the MTV version is going to be watered down.
Of course its gonna be watered down. FCC would have a field day.
Of course its gonna be watered down. FCC would have a field day.
I just thought the rating would give them more freedom to do what they wanted.
I wonder if Skins is going to be like MTV old show, Undressed.
I was going to mention Undressed but I doubt it. Undressed was way more respectable whereas US!Skins looks desperate.
If anybody is interested, UK Skins is on Netflix for instant streaming
UK Skins is also on Youtube. UK Skins rocks! My friends told me to watch it, so I did, and I love it. But I can see why they had to remake it; there's a lot of uncensored cursing and nudity.
I didn't find the UK version that great. I watched the first four or five episodes, but it didn't thrill me. From what I've heard the US version will be a copy for the first few episodes. I might watch the pilot to see how I like the different actors.
I wish they would stop showing commercials for this show every single time I tune into MTV (which is not even that often). I still don't want to watch this show.

So far from what I seen. Skins is 9021-oh! hyped on LSD, Degrassi throwned on Patron, and Gossip Girl... well you know. I like this show, better than most of "stuff" on tv tonight.
This show kinda sucks. I doubt it will be around long...

The original series is 10 times better. I'll keep watching to see how they switch up the story but from the previews it looks like they didn't change much.
it was okay, u wonder if they were an acid trip or something, but I guess we will see what the rating are soon
