Mtv is running what appears to be a mini-marathon of Skins tonight at 10pm. Finally something besides Jersey Shore. Anyhow, i hope we get to see a second season of it. I've added quite a few songs from this show to my itunes, and with only one episode left, i'm wondering what the fate of it is.
Skins has become my favorite show of all time. I can relate to each and every character, even the girls. I saw that they are running a marathon tonight at 10, however they are not airing the first episode! Why MTV!? Why!? In regards to whether it will get a second season or not is up in the air to me. Several weeks ago I would have laughed at the the thought of it getting a second season due to all the angry parents, and plummeting ratings. But now the show has found its groove and the past several episodes have been some of the best. Not to mention the fact that there has been a "Catch-Up Special" and now tonight a mini-marathon. This makes me wonder on the future of this show. Fingers crossed!
Tina episodes was great, much better than any UK episode.
I agree! I thought the Tina episode was great. I liked Michelle's episode a lot too. The Tony episode is the only one they aren't playing tonight. Mtv doesn't re-run this show a lot so i'm recording it just in case. I've never seen the UK version, but i'm starting to fall in love with this show. Just in time for the last episode.

I think the show is a much more accurate depiction of high school than a lot of the other stuff out there. And the music...i can't rave enough about the music. Love the song "lovesick teenagers" by Bear in Heaven from the Stanley episode. Anyhow, i will for sure keep my fingers crossed for another season.

Now I didn't go around driving stolen SUV's into lakes, giving several different girls Chlamydia, or have a sexual relationship with my "Teacher crush". However, a lot of the issues dealing with drugs, depression, sex, and so much more are actually quite relevant to what is happening in high schools world wide. I wish that parents who object to this show would take time to sit down with their teens and discuss these issues brought up by the show rather than filing lawsuits, boycotting sponsors, and further submerging themselves into denial. From my own hands on experience Ive observed that most teens above the age of 15 have either dealt with drugs, become sexually active, or dealt with a more severe form of depression. And in a lot of cases its more than one of those issues. And by no means do I think that every teen in high school has had first-hand experience with these issues, but I can almost guarantee that those who haven't know someone who has. But enough of my rambling, the music in the show is amazing. Its new, refreshing, and adds a undeniable flair to each episode. Love it!

The friendships are what bring everything together, and really what's high school without friends?! I thought that was pretty right-on.

The friendships are what bring everything together, and really what's high school without friends?! I thought that was pretty right-on.
Absolutely, sophomore, junior, and senior year were the time of my life. I did a lot of crazy, stupid stuff. But the thing is that I couldn't have ever made it through all of it without my friends. And everyone has their own problems that they are dealing with, but having someone on the outside who can see your situation a bit more rationally then you can makes a world of difference. And sure having an ample supply of friends may have exposed me to certain bad elements in high school that I may have not experienced had I been a loner. However I wouldn't trade a single one of those moments for the world. Having a good reliable crew of friends is essential to making it through those years, and we may come out of it banged up and bruised but at least we had someone there with us. And I think that Skins captures that element flawlessly.
I still can't get over the really...really terrible acting. Aside from that, the show isn't as bad as people think. I still stand by my statement though that the UK version kicks the crap out of this one without even trying.
I hated the UK version so much, I like this far better
Series 3 and 4 were just so unnecessarily abstract, so I can see where the hatred comes from that. Series 1 and 2 just had some kind of magic that drew me in (once you get past the accents and all).
I feel like never having seen the UK version ended up being a plus for me because i have nothing to compare it to. I watched Degrassi for a while, but Skins is wayyyy better imo. The acting doesn't bother me. To be honest, i have a much harder time watching the new Vegas Real World because they seem like they're wannabe actors.

US!Skins being way better than Degrassi is like mean.
Well, if want the REAL experience of Skins watch the UK version. US!Skins being way better than Degrassi is like mean.
No disrespect to Degrassi. Degrassi has been on for such a long time, it's in a class of its own. I just think Skins seems to paint a more accurate depiction of the high school party scene. It's edgier and personally, i like that. If Degrassi could start playing some amazing music ala Skins, i'd probably like it even better.

Though its Canadian-based and maybe independent but its still good...sometimes.
Finale tonight at 10! I'll be watching, and hoping for a second season.
Fans of skins(u.s. version) might enjoy this : " + artTitle.replace("-","") + " - " + "Fordham Observer" + "
Everyone knew it was bound to happen. I only watched about 15 minutes of it and knew it wouldn't last... MTV cancels Skins

A second season could have been great, but i guess we'll never know. At least the Sundance channel is re-running My So-called life so i can get my fill of teen angst elsewhere.
Pfff, better off watching reruns of the original UK version anyway (which I am guilty of doing willingly) :)
Is there a page on here for the UK Skins?
Is there a page on here for the UK Skins?
No. I don't think so. I searched "Skins" (with the search bar) and it brought me here. I'm assuming you're a fan of the UK version? Me, too. Anybody watching series 6?
One thread is enough. Anyway the UK skins is terrible as well. Like the show went down the drain during series 4 and is continiuing to go down. I lost all faith in it.

And is it jus me or is it impossible for Skins to make it to 100 episodes? Then I could understand the cancellation.
Channel 4 has announced that Skins will bow out with one final series. The E4 teen drama has been recommissioned for a special seventh run - made up of three films broken up into six parts - to be broadcast in 2013, Digital Spy can confirm. Famous Skins characters from the past five years will appear in the 'celebratory' series. Nicholas Hoult (Tony), Kaya Scodelario (Effy), Jack O'Connell (Cook) and Luke Pasqualino (Freddie) are among those who could return. "Channel 4 today confirmed that next year's series of E4's teen drama Skins will be its last," the broadcaster said this evening. "The new series will be a celebration of this truly iconic series, and will go to air in early 2013." "Skins is a brilliant show which has defined a generation and will go down as a game-changing piece of television," the statement added. "But after seven series it is time for E4 to make way for the next generation of the bold, the new and the innovative." Skins, which launched in 2007, is currently airing its sixth series every Monday at 10pm on E4.
'Skins' to bow out with final series in 2013, former stars to return - Skins News - TV - Digital Spy
Looking forward to the final series. Glad they're going to tie up all of the loose ends. I just find it funny that a lot of people who went around bad mouthing gen 3 are down in the dumps after hearing that it's been axed. Who's fault is that? Your fault.
