Skins - MTV

Earlier this week MTV stated that they're standing by their series, meaning they're going to let all 10 of it's episodes air. 'Skins' is not being canceled by MTV, despite ratings drop from 3.3 to 1.6 million: network rep Personally, I'm quite relieved. I'm a big fan of the UK series, and seemingly one of the few who actually want to see this adaptation. But oh well, figured it would keep this thread going.
Yep. Thanks for the link as I couldn't find it at the time. Its wierd because all of these episodes were filmed last year. I wonder if they were still filming season 1 right now if they would've stopped.
No problem. I'm not too sure what they would've done. I assume that they had already shot the whole season, and then they would air all the episodes after they went through editing and crap. But I'm guessing if it were to get canceled, they just would stop airing episodes once the network ordered in the axe. Not too sure how that process goes really, so that's just an assumption.
.....Not too sure how that process goes really, so that's just an assumption.
A friend of a friend was on a short lived series on Fox that got canceled after a couple episodes. In that case, they had filmed part of the season and ended up getting paid for the whole season, which was cool for him cause he got paid hugely to sit at home for a year ( he could have done other work but elected not to).
They are tripping. Because MTV already said that they tone down the show at least according to several news stories and websites. Plus MTV its not in danger of cancellation...at least as of today.
hmm you are right about that, I guess we will take a wait and see approach to it. I wonder if they maybe might do a cross-over with the u.k cast that would be intersting
It depends on which Generation you want them to cross over with. Plus I think union and non-union can't cross over anyway.
I finally decided to catch a rerun of the 2nd episode and really enjoyed it! At least, a lot better than the first. I don't think they should cancel it. Also the actor who plays Tony...sucks.

Is the UK version always so awkward like the US one is?
This show is just.....weird. I don't understand it at all.

well I checked the ratings for this week and it looks like the ratings is as follows - 1.459 million viewers - 1.0/2 HH - 0.5/1 A18-49 - 1.1/3 W18-34 - 2.5/9 T12-17 it may not be the best but the good news they had more viewers then greek on abc family which was at .909 millon
While I could do without Tony's actor, I'm really loving this show. Many find it rather offensive, while others find it just plain odd. I for one really love it, coming from someone who is also an avid fan of the original. Anyone else like it? Or hate it?
I think it is like an attempt to make a TV show in the same vein as Trainspotting, but they just can't quite hit that right mark yet and come across more like a bad American Pie: The Next Generation... I am not sure it is well cast. Nothing against the actors themselves, but to me they are like suburban kids at summer theater. They lack the presence or unique looks or off-beat qualities to pull this one off--they are just not edgy enough as individuals to do an ensemble edgy show IMO.
here what I found today an interview with one of the cast members 'Skins' Star on Child **** Accusations: 'Everything at MTV is Legal'

I finally saw the first two UK seasons on Netflix, and I became a HUGE FAN of the original series. The acting is amazing! It feels like they are those characters in real life. The story just seems better for some reason (think it has to do with the directing & acting). It's just ******* amazing! I'm a huge fan now. The US version is doing nothing for me. None of the castmembers could hold a candle on the UK version. Oh and I really didn't like one of the major changes taking out Maxxie, and adding the lesbian girl for the US version. Maxxie plays a big role in the series that completely changes everything. Oh and US Effy doesn't seem like the bad *** of UK Effy.

For a show that is claiming to be SO edgy they sure took the wimpy and easy road with that one. Having the Tony and Maxxie hook up would have been scandalous and definitely would have got people talking. Not saying it wouldn't have received backlash but I thought the entire thing about this show was so to be scandalous and shock people. But whatever, this is a trainwreck anyway and will surely be cancelled once this season is finished airing (if not sooner). And to everyone hoping for a UK/US crossover......not going to happen. Pretty much everyone involved in the UK version either won't give the US version a chance or thinks it sucks. I read an article on Oh No They Didn't where they interviewed UK Tony, Cassie, and the show creator and all three said the MTV US version was "rubbish" and they were especially against it being aired on MTV.

I know CHill! It sucks that they really made this show so safe, and horrible. I hope US watchers give the UK version a chance, because that was an amazing show! The characters & the connection you make is amazing. You truly feel for each one of them, but the US version doesn't feel that way. If you guys have Netflix you could watch all 4 seasons guys! (First 3 by streaming). It's such a shame, I can't even watch it.
I love UK Skins. But I really didn't much care for the UK Season 1-2. Season 3 and 4, while somewhat unrealistic, were brilliant. To me, the US versions hasn't really given me enough to make a good perspective on it. It's only on it's fourth episode. :p But I'm holding out, I really would like it to succeed. Yet either way, if it does or it doesn't, UK Skins will always be there so it's really whatever for me ;p.
well here are the ratings 1.459 million viewers - 1.0/2 HH - 0.5/1 A18-49 - 1.1/3 W18-34 - 2.5/9 T12-17 it looks like to me the raitings are the same from last week,
I wanted to hate this show, but i enjoy watching it. It does remind me a little of Degrassi, and i've never seen the other version, but i like the characters. I think the music used in the episodes is fantastic too, so maybe that's part of why i like it. Anyhow, just wanted to throw my 2cents out there.
I hate the to be [strike]barrer[/strike] bearer of bad new but here are the ratings from Monday night: - 0.962 million viewers - 0.7/1 HH - 0.3/1 A18-49 - 0.5/2 W18-34 - 1.7/7 T12-17 Yikes! This is not good but on the other hand, we are beating Greek.
[strike]i barely seen the UK version about 3monthes ago and i thought it was epic. maybe because their accents and what they are allowed to show. i watched the US version and was SOOO Disappointed. Even then, it's not saying much since everything else blows so hard, especially Tony's acting. That said, go UK Skins. :)
Last few episodes have been really good.
Maybe it's just me, but i really like this show! The Daisy episode was boring, but i loved the Michelle and Tina episodes. I hope this show gets picked up for another season, it seems like it's starting to find its groove.
Mtv is running what appears to be a mini-marathon of Skins tonight at 10pm. Finally something besides Jersey Shore. Anyhow, i hope we get to see a second season of it. I've added quite a few songs from this show to my itunes, and with only one episode left, i'm wondering what the fate of it is.
Tina episodes was great, much better than any UK episode.
