Skins - MTV

I fell asleep during the first commercial break--not sure if that was the show or the cold meds kicking in. Was curious as to what the very first song was--kind of liked what I could hear of it with my stuffed up head and ringing ears.
I thought the 1st episode was very good.
I wish they would stop showing commercials for this show every single time I tune into MTV (which is not even that often). I still don't want to watch this show.
I agree. I was home sick all weekend and flipped thru the channels. I kept stopping on MTV cause I always saw a coked up gal, half naked... low and behold it was a commercial for skins. I tried to watch the first 10 minutes, and then changed the channel.
The original series is 10 times better. I'll keep watching to see how they switch up the story but from the previews it looks like they didn't change much.
The first few episodes of the US Skins will be the same as the first season of UK Skins; but apparently after that it'll change.
If only MTV could promote the Challenges like they do for this crap show :dash1: Only watched the first five minutes of it and it wasn't my cup of tea. I'll just stick with the Real World, Challenges, and of course Jersey Shore when it comes to MTV. BTW I believe the ratings for the first episode of "Dead" Skins was over 3Mill. After all the promotion this **** got I expected better. I would love to know the Jersey Shore ratings just to see how many viewers switched the channel after 10 o clock rolled around.
This show kinda sucks. I doubt it will be around long...
I said the same thing but we may be wrong. The first couple episodes are UK-adapted but they, the producers of the show say that it will grow into its own. Right now If that didn't apply, i would've given this show the usual 13 episode limit. lmao.
This was so amazingly bad. They took everything that was great about the UK version and just made it seem silly, forced, and completely over the top. Not to mention the acting was terrible!! Especially the girls.....how some of these women made the jump from modeling to acting is beyond me. I definitely won't be watching any more episodes. If you didn't like this or even if you did I'd advise you to check out the UK version on Itunes. It's AMAZINGLY better than this pile of crap. Compared to the UK one this was like a ****** straight to dvd sequel or remake.
I think that making the first few episodes exactly like the UK version was a mistake. UK and US audiences tend to like very different things. Big Brother, for example, tried doing the UK format and it flopped so they had to switch it up. I think this show has potential to be interesting so I'll stick with it for a few more weeks.
Did well considering that is not a great time slot on MTV ratings wise. I disagree with the idea MTV promoted the show well. They ran a lot of ads, but the ads didn't really give the viewers any idea what the show was about. While that may lure in some, I think they should have at least put a little more meat into the ads.
It premiered right after 7.7 million watched Jersey Shore.
I'm a huge fan of the original UK series. Yet I actually enjoyed it. I know for a fact that once this show can go into it's own original plot it could be great. Haters just need to give it a chance. The acting wasn't the best. But who knows. Could get better. I'd watch it regardless just because I love skins, and well, more of what I love? Hell yeah! :P Sure, the names are the same, with some similar personalities, but I find the US Characters to be completely different than the UK characters, and in a good way. To me, it feels like a brand new cast, just going in a different direction from the UK's. But it's whatever really, if fans, or viewers in general just don't want to watch it, then that's fine. I will. :D *plus, Tea's (only real 'new' character) episode is on next week. Meaning already brand new ****. So. Again. I'm happy for it, and I want it to work. Wish more people could be. xD
Big fans of an original anything tend to hate remakes unless they go in a totally different direction. I get that. Fans of the UK version who don't like the US version should just watch the UK version. Since most MTV viewers have not seen the UK version, it will be a fresh start for them. I have seen a lot of European shows/movies and there is a style difference from the US that can be an interesting change of pace if you give it a chance and are open to it. If you don't like changes in flavor or are impatient, there is nothing that can be done to help you like their creative twists. I personally think the British have a wonderful sense of humor that runs from the absolute silly to subtle wickedness.

Even more controversy Television - News - MTV execs 'worry Skins breaks the law' - Digital Spy Is Effy that chick from Unfabulous and Scream 4 in the US Skins version?
Lol love it. Keep up the hate please, let's pull a 'Jersey Shore' :D LOL
If only The Real World and The Challenges were this controversial...
Well everyone, it looks like Skins lost 50% of it audience, it was about 1.26 million and with all this backlash going on, I'm not too optimistic about this show.
So much for MTV's highly anticipated show huh guys? I was hopeful the show would fail and thankfully its on track to do so. I mean last week they used Jersey Shore to gain viewers and I LOL when nearly four million viewers changed the channel when this **** rolled around. And now this week they go down in ratings even more. Hopefully next week I read somewhere the ratings didn't even hit a million :)

As someone who was a huge fan of the UK version, and who went into the US version with low expectations, I have to say I'm not wholly disappointed. No, this is not the original and I did not like how they tried to mirror the original in the first episode. But they are striking out on their own now, creatively (though with aspects of the original - i.e. traces of the Tony/Maxxie plot last night??) and I think people should give it a shot if they feel so inclined. And if they don't, then leave it alone - if you don't care, what does it matter? Also: I find it kind of funny how the Mtv version is pretty watered down from the source material and people are all up in arms - could you imagine the heart attacks that would be happening across the country if the original were to be aired??
I want to like it but I keep falling asleep during it. There is just something about it that cannot keep me awake. Don't have that problem with any other 10 o'clock show. Not sure if it is because it is a Monday, but twice now we go into the first commercial break and I wake up 45 minutes later. I guess I will have to try it online or throw some Geritol into my RedBull :).
I love this show, Tea's episode was better than the pilot :)
I love this show, Tea's episode was better than the pilot :)
Yeah! I love Skins, its my new obbession. I hope they dont take it off the air.
look what i just found:sadwalk: EXCLUSIVE: 'Skins' 'In Danger of Being Canceled,' Source Says - FoxNews.com things dont look good
I really do hope it's cancelled. I'm not even a HUGE fan of the original BUT it's very obvious what is missing in the US version. In the original it was shocking and over the top and very in your face BUT there was a lot of heart and you actually felt something for the characters. In the US version so far it's just been shocking and over the top and in your face so much that when it's over I just feel that it's a bunch of people sitting back laughing "Oh look at what we can get away with showing teens do! We are so scandalous and controversial!". I don't actually like any of these characters and couldn't care less what happens to them. And another thing that irks me to no end is how much some of the characters tried to emulate and sound like the UK versions. Especially the US version of Tony. Everything he did in the pilot came off to me as if he was doing his best impression of the UK Tony. Not only annoying but only helped magnify what is wrong with this version.....I liked the UK Tony whereas I'd like to punch the US Tony in the face.
I really liked the 2nd episode it was good. I like the fact she talks to her Aubrey Hepburn poster frame, I do too but mine is a Marilyn frame.
Who did James Newman sleep with to get the role? His acting makes me want to gargle a barrel of bleach.

Because MTV already said that they tone down the show at least according to several news stories and websites. Plus MTV its not in danger of ************...** least as of today.
