Yes, it is very close ... get your lineups in for next week too .... Interesting at who has taken the most jumps to the waiver wire. ... Not saying it is a bad thing, just interesting to see.
Interesting at who has taken the most jumps to the waiver wire. ... Not saying it is a bad thing, just interesting to see.
Games on average are won with a good draft. Championships are won leveraging your roster and the waiver wire to your advantage. ;)
I must have rubbed the right Buddha. With only two days left the Cutty Sarks have put up the highest point totals in league play thus far and have a pitching start advantage over the next down the line. This is after getting hammered with bad, under performing pitching. I swear, I'm not normally this lucky. Obviously things are bound to go bad fast, as I don't have the baseball knowledge to out think great strategists like Puma, Lionsfan and Mr. Unamazing. That being said, I at least want to remain competitive and hopefully I will as the season progresses (I'll probably only lose by a million, billion points and 10 games in the standings.) Hey, If I get beat, I get beat. This statistical stuff and probability throws me for a loop so I'm never going to be able to make informed decisions in the same vain as those mentioned above, or even consider tackling great warriors like tater, dplayer and insider in intangible team composition. I hate getting into losing propositions, but for entertainment, I must. For the good of the group. I know I am the heavy underdog, but I'll fight to the end, I promise.
I don't consider myself a great strategist ... I've just done research and made calculated guesses that are paying off. Trust me, I lost a player today for about a week in Brian Roberts. I had picked up LaRoche in a trade and he is slumping so I dumped him for someone else who is performing. As for De La Rosa, I scouted him in several magazines and had good thoughts. I knew I wanted Prado as well. If it makes you feel any better Bacchus, I'm pulling for the Red Sox in the AL East and the only baseball in NY I like is the Mets. There is only 1 Yankee player I like and I have him - Rivera. Hudson, Valverde and Wright gave you good numbers today too.
My team has had a horrible week. I have the lost point total by alot. Its very sad. thank god i took Nelson Cruz, he is the only person on my team that has performed well so far.

I need to get rid of Zambrano. Also, I'm thinking about putting Hardy in Jeters place.
Not sure if you can dump Zambrano. You may want to check the list of players you are not allowed to Drop.

Finally! Z does something for me. He must've heard I'm in town. ;)
Sweet! Insider, our boy just opened it up for the Sox.
Sweet! Insider, our boy just opened it up for the Sox.
Pedroia has been a lifesaver on my team. I'm happy I picked him up. Side note: I almost bought a new Pedroia tee today. It was green though. Ultimately, that's what changed my mind. I mean, I get the connection. Boston-Irish-Green... But I prefer the original colors in the end.

I think tater might get the week 1 points crown, just by a smidgen, but it is going to be close (I'm still counting on a Youk jack to lead the 9th!) I mean, when Halladay gets you 60+ how could you not? ;) Edit: Maybe by a little more as now we actually need Paplebon, sigh. The middle relievers for the Sox are not looking sharp these days...
Halladay ruled today!! He got almost half my total points for the day, woot! Even if it all goes downhill from here at least I had a good start for my first try at fantasy sports. :)
For about 5 years, I only played in NL leagues, for a reason. There is this little competitive devil on my shoulder saying, "Hey, Pap can blow the save and we can still win. You'll see your fantasy competitor eat the starter loss and the blown save. It could be good for you!" But, I am past that. I am going to pull for Sox players no matter what. While I enjoy winning in the fantasy world, in the end - a lifetime streak of fantasy wins do not equal one Red Sox ring. Still, that little devil does try and talk to me from time to time. :D

Well Ortiz is on my team.... On reserve. :) so he can keep blowing it for now.
Well Ortiz is on my team.... On reserve. :) so he can keep blowing it for now.
Dump him and pick up someone that is hot. I promise you, no one will grab him off the waiver wire. The fans in Boston are ready to give him his rocking chair and gold watch.
I figure with Manny gone, you no longer need Ortiz anyway since he was keeping him in line most of the time.

Well... period one is down. M. Buerhle earned 46 pts for my team! I wish I had a few more like him.
Yes, and the 2nd period game tracker is not up yet either.
Yes, and the 2nd period game tracker is not up yet either.
It doesn't come up until lineups lock at 1 (or any second now.)
1pm EST then ... I thought it locked up earlier than that like this morning
1pm EST then ... I thought it locked up earlier than that like this morning
They almost always lock at 1PM ET (or 5 minutes before the first game.) When the Red Sox play on Patriots day, they lock at 10AM ET and every once in a while there are no day games on Monday so they will lock at 7PM ET. The calendar is toward the bottom of the home page. I was thinking about dropping Z again today. I've decided to go ahead and hang on to him for another game or two. My gut is telling me to dump.. but my heart says to give him another shot. I know I'll regret this. lol
Verlander is on the Can't Drop list so I'm stuck with him for the rest of the season unless he gets injured and then maybe. But he has blown 2 starts so far.
Verlander is on the Can't Drop list so I'm stuck with him for the rest of the season unless he gets injured and then maybe. But he has blown 2 starts so far.
He'll come out of it. He's a fantasy stud and just needs to get back to what he was doing last season.
My roster is in ... so he has this week off and I'm hoping it won't cripple me but he'll rebound next week.
My roster is in ... so he has this week off and I'm hoping it won't cripple me but he'll rebound next week.
You know when you bench a pitcher he'll go out and toss a complete game shutout with 18 Ks that week just to spite you, lol. ;)

Puma, you're having a rough day so far in the pitching department. :wink2:
