Degrassi: The Next Generation

Almost every character from the past has had some action that took them episodes to recover from. I still remember the episode when Rick brought the gun to school and it was such a great episode. Ephraim ellis was an amazing actor to pull off that role so well. Emma and her weight issue was almost a whole season worth of dealing with the problem. As well as Ellie dealing with her cutting herself was covered very well. This show to me used to be great but then they dumped the cast way to fast. Instead they should have transitioned allot better, which in I mean bring in a 3 or so new castmembers a year.
Which they have done. They brought in a few characters every year. And we've been familiarized over time with characters like leia chante Darcy's sister Danny Sav and a good amount of the new characters. They couldn't just keep the old cast as 22 year olds playing high school students, and they couldn't make it about college either because that is not the premise that made the show popular. Instead they designed it for a whole new audience, which in my opinion they did very well.
That isn't even close to what they did for season as they added over 5 new castmembers as well as bumbed more then half the the recurring cast members Sav, Anya, Johnny, bruce and so many more to regulars. They pretty much in one season dumbed every castmember they had and that was when I totally stopped watching the show.
Even if they did bring in new characters they are doing NOTHING with them. Leia, Blue, Chantay (who after 5 years finally is getting camera time.) Bruce the Moose, Sav, Danny. They have so many characters that they do nothing with. And i understand the premise of degrassi its a high school. But when you have that many characters and do nothing with them and at that only give them 1 episode plots from which the characters wont grow from, it takes the show down. Especially when its been built up for so long. Season 8 is a perfect example of what ive been talking about: There has been no consistency with plots throughout the whole season, the only one i could think of was Pia bringing up darcy. With jane they should have had he dealing with her "molesation" for a while instead of just 1 episode. Connor and his problem only lasted 1 episode. The holly j/ alli feud only lasted 1 ep, when they could have clearly done more with it. Just because they bring in new chars, dont make the show good... its what they do with them
Over time they got rid of characters slowly and used the characters we loved less and less. Like starting off with Craig, Sean, and Ashley. They then added new regular characters Jay and Alex. But around season 7 they started using them less and less and started making the newer characters like Peter and Darcy. I believe they did a good transition, even though it's like a new show it does feel like Mia and Peter and characters that have been on for a few seasons are old characters even though they're not.
Alex,Craig, Sean and Ashley all LEFT the show. Season 8 is a whole different show, possibly the worst of the series.
That's what I'm saying. I said characters have been leaving the show forever and it's not like it happened all at once. I do not doubt that season 8 was awful but I do think that season 9 is reminiscent of season 1 they did a good job at making it fresh again for a new fanbase.
I love degrassi, and i dont care if they get new characters, i wish they would do like they did in season 1-5 and have everbody get some type camera time and give them plots that arent always relationship based. Thats my only problem, other then that i think the show is okay.
I agree wiht that too. There are some characters on the new cast like Blue and the short black kid (I forget his name) and Bruce and Chantay and Leia that I'd really like for them to have more than one episode about them so we can see some character development.

For him being new this season I feel that his character has been developed more than Chantay, Leia, Blue and Bruce all of whom have been on the show for a while. Dave's character is pretty good and I can see him sticking around for a while and having plenty of storylines.
I hope they all do. they developed the old characters so we all got connected. Since they're having at least one more season i hope they do the same with these.
Dave and Declan, the newbs this season, have had way more development and plots then most of the newbs from season 8: Chante, Bruce, Blue, Leia, Sav. If anything they are starting to Develop chante by putting her in a relationship with Danny, and Leia is known for being a liar and she had her boyfriend taken by Chante. A good way to develop Leia and Chante would be to make some type of war with them... that would be interesting.

Is Teenick already airing new episodes of Degrassi?
Sav definately has some development. He's been in a relationship with Anya forever. He's a music enthusiast comes froma very devoutly religious family. his sister is Alli he is going to have that arranged marriage storyline. We know more about him than most though.
I personnally thought that when a show has a character like Sav and they add secondary characters directly related to him which happened to Alli it was to enforce outside character that wasn`t asscoitated with the character at the school. Such as his conservative parents. It usually adds for a whole other depth to the original character. Also these are all the people who were added to the cast season 8 Blue,Leia,Connor,K.C.,Clare,Riley, oh and previously but definately not forgottten Kelly was added this year as well. That is 7 new faces which is crazy. They should have definately just started over and called it something else. Also for season 8 they made a bunch of recurring characters into main characters: Sav,johnny, Anya,Chante,Bruce.
Well Scrubs is doing the same thing where they changed the cast around but it's still the same show. Unfortunately a show can't stay the same for ten seasons and Degrassi is doing their best job to stay on the air. I think it's still an enjoyable show like it used to be too. Not with our favorites and the characters we know but it's still an enjoyable half hour of television. I just wish the two part episodes would be a little more intense
Actually Scrubs changed the name of their show to Scrubs Med. School.
No, they didn't. It's set in Med School but if you look anywhere they didnt change th ename.
In the opening credits when they introduce the show it's called scrubs and in smaller font Med School. It also is a completely different show which is different to degrassi as they are still in high school and Scrubs is not in the hospital anymore.
Yeah but scrubs didn't change the name. If you look on abc.com imdb hulu or any major sites it's still scrubs. Degrassi is still Degrassi: the next generation except theyre focusing on a new group of students. They don't need to change the name.
No they dont need to change the name, but the show is completely different. I just cant wait for the new episodes, the prom episode (Why cant this be Love) is really making everybody crazy. We finally get a quality Sanya episode

I think I've seen most of them cause they aired in Canada, I just found them on the internet. I haven't really been keeping up with Canada since the hiatus so I'm not sure what network is on what episode.
Canada is on hiatus, until god knows when, most likely until march. Canada left off on "Start me up" the episode Peter makes the club above the dot.

Well I can see that, considering that they are almost done with all the episodes. Good to know I'm not missing anything.
I watched the new episode last Friday that Teenick was calling "Love Games". I agree with someone who said they missed the old Degrassi, now it seems like every episode is about the newest couple. It's getting kind of played out.
So apparently Season 10 will have 48 episodes and go back to the 1 season = 1 year... which im soooo happy with.

Well first, Melinda shankar (Alli) Did an interview and said there would be 48 episodes for season 10. Then, Stephen the Exec confirmed on his twitter that there was a huge surprised, and he ended up saying that Season 10 will go back to 1 season= 1 year. Sinces its the 30 year degrassi anniversary (or 20th) there might be more in store. Then when it comes to the new movie, apparently there will be a catfight, a coupple breaks up, a couple gets together, and a couple will get married

Someone gets married? That has been a long time coming, its either going to be someone predictable or someone out of left field. I was hoping that would tie loose ends up with DRAKE but that will never happen. I'm hoping it will be Emma&Sean or Jay&Manny.
Well Drake appeared in Season 8 so idk, The Exec tweeted Drake that he wanted him in the next movie. I love Jay and Manny as well.
