I'm sure the movie will be bad but at least we get to see some of the older characters return.
So the movie was by no means fantastic.
But it was pretty good. I had low expectations, but I was honestly entertained by it. It's rare that made-for-TV movies based on popular shows are watchable, but I did enjoy this one. So good job Degrassi!
So the movie was alright, IMO. It wasn't like "OMG! I want to watch 10 times" but eh. Sometimes I wonder why I like Paige. Anyways, here's a great article about Degrassi. I guess it is true, with "Drake's" career, Nina and Shenae being the new leading ladies on the CW, Degrassi is getting more popular and the recognition it deserves.

I liked the movie it was pretty cute. It gave some closure to the Jay and Manny storyline and gave a proper goodbye to Paige, Marco, Ellie and Craig that the show didnt give them. I wasnt expecting the movie to be any good but it was actually watchable. I didnt know Nina was getting her own show on the CW, wonder if that means she isnt on season 9? I didnt see her on any of the promos of the new season which is odd. I think Degrassi is more popular now more than ever. I remember during the early seasons it had a cult following and had to be searched for on The N (back then it was called Noggin) now it is gaining popularity and is still going strong all these years later on season 9. I dont see the show ending anytime soon with all the new characters in place. I am happy for the show and it's actors it is a true feel good story, I love all things Canadian!

Your right ILoveFlex, Degrassi is popular now more than ever. I've heard season 9 opener will have a Peter and Mia plot, and judging from the promos, it looks like Mia gets in some sort of accident. I've also heard that Marco will be on season 9 as well.

With True Blood and Twilight feeding the vampire frenzy, I am sure we are going to see all sorts of shows in this genre in the coming years...
I'm trying to twitter to Stephen Stohn about Marco and Paige's friendship, LMAO. He's usually responds to his tweets, so hopefully he will give me an answer when twitter stops skizzing out. He's been giving little hints here and there.

From what I'm gathering I dont think Mia will be back for Season 9. I know there are supposed to be 4 new characters so three more characters in addition to Mia are possibly leaving. I'm betting on them being Manny, Liberty, and Kelly. In that Rolling Stone article it said Miriam is slated to appear on future episodes of Degrassi so Emma may still be a part of the cast on Season 9. It will be interesting to see what changes are in store.

That makes sense. I didnt think the movie was a finale at all. Like I said Degrassi is more popular now than ever and seems to be the flagship program of the new Teen Nick channel so I am sure the show will keep going.

I don't think that's true. I think this season is supposed to be the second semester (like season 6/7). Liberty is probably still a part of it, as is Kelly. Manny might be gone, but I don't see a reason why she'd leave, other than her storyline in the movie.
Here's the problem I have with Degrassi this season; I don't know what grade level everyone is. Anyone wanna help me out?

Who am I missing? Are there any sophomores or juniors?
Dang I just watched a few episodes that were showing on tv and then watched the movie. I really want to get all caught up, but I can't find anywhere to watch seasons 1-8. =/

IMichael is right. Season 8/9 are two semesters, much like season 6 and 7.
And Sav isn't a senior, he's a junior. Remember last year on season 7 when Mia was crushing on him on the season 7 opener, Manny said she didn't go after sohpmores.
I think most of the people you mentioned are juniors but I'd have to look it up. The writers wouldn't make them seniors because then they would graduate, and then they would have to bring in even more characters.
I do believe Anya, Holly J, Danny, Sav, Mia and Derek are juniors.
I'm not sure where Peter and Jane fall, I think they might be seniors.
KC, Claire, Ali, and Conner are the niners.
Nina won't be back, along with "Drake". Aubrey was barely in season 8.
Not sure where Johnny and company(Lucas, Bruce) fall. I'm pretty sure Lucas is out of school.

The Freshmean you mentioned are all correct.
Juniors are: Sav, Anya, Holly J, Johnny, Bruce, Blu, Mia and Leia
Seniors: Peter, Derek, Danny, Riley and Jane
I am not sure what grade Shante is in, she could be a junior or senior.

You should get caught up I encourage it. I absolutely love Degrassi and I have been watching since about 2003. I know Season 8 episodes are up on the-n.com.
I used to love Degrassi!! I was a big fan during seasons 1-5ish. And after that I watched for a while, and then I'm sure I missed a bunch of episodes, and then recently I've seen a few of the new ones. I saw the movie, which was cute. But I'm not a big fan of the new episodes. The new characters are fine, but I like the older ones better, like Paige, Craig, Ellie, Marco, Spinner, Emma, Manny, etc. (And I miss JT!). I know most of them are still in some episodes but the focus is mostly on the new high schoolers. I just found some of the actors' Twitters the other day, which was fun, lol. Now I have to go watch the unintentionally funny moments. I've never seen that before, but I can already think of some good ones! Thanks for posting the videos! :)
I just went to watch season 1 and I didn't even know that I've already seen it! As soon as I saw Emma going into "Jordan"s room I realized that I had already watched the whole season with my sister in like 01 or 02.
