I've been watching this show over the last few days on Teen Nick, and I'm really getting into it. All those commercials about the upcoming season made finally decide to watch the show. I must be watching season 7, based on your descriptions of it. I'm hoping Darcy finally tells her parents she's been raped soon. It's so sad to see what she is going through! It's also horrible that she lied on Snake.

An amazing show...
Its crazy how they are in the 9th season and they are shooting season 10 now.
Well Drake appeared in Season 8 so idk, The Exec tweeted Drake that he wanted him in the next movie. I love Jay and Manny as well.
Drake is done with Degrassi. He and some of the other cast members don't like how the producers did them dirty. Or at least thats what he said.

What happened with them and the producers?
What happened with them and the producers?
He said after season 7 that they came on set one day for a read through (for season 8 im assuming) and he said he didn't like how the producers replaced them and didn't even give them a warning or anything.
I can understand them being upset about that.
So how are the seasons done? Is one season equal to one school year? I'm trying to figure out how some of characters who were on the show from the first season are still in high school at the point of season seven. I know Jimmy and Spinner were delayed a bit in graduating. Did the series start with them in their jr. high years, or are Canadian school years different than here in the U.S., or what?
To start off with with Degrassi they did in fact start off with a junior high school. Most high schools in Canada though are just for 3 years but there are exceptions (Degrassi High being one of them which has 4 years) Spinner graduated I thought 2 years ago and that was due to being suspended for a whole year for the rick incident and then failing another year but later got his actt together and passed with his buddy Jimmy Brooks.

The only seasons that are split up in the same school year is 6/7 and 8/9.
Degrassi (Not Degrassi next generation) had Snake, Spike, Joey (Craigs stepfather), and Caitlin when they young and that was called Degrassi Jr High/ Degrassi High.
Degrassi the next generation is the current show. It started in 2001. Emma, Toby, JT, Sean, and Manny were in grade 7. Paige, Jimmy, Spinner, Terri, Ashley, etc. were all in grade 8.
Yeah Jimmy and Spinner graduated a year later than they were supposed but I won't spoil you.
OK, that helps a lot. Thanks. So it's a combination of being in jr./middle school years (at least, by U.S standards, grades 7 and 8 are) AND a couple of the school years being a semester per season (like One Tree Hill had each season be a semester of school).
Just to reiterate since my other post was didn't go through. season 10 will have 48 episodes. the first 24 will air this summer Monday-Thursday and the next 24 will air on a weekly basis in the fall.
However I never heard about Drake being in the next movie, Degrassi Summer of Love aka The Rest of My Life. But its only right since there will be a wedding with original characters.
And TJ there are no loose ends with Drake's character. He's in another country with Trina getting stem cell treatment.
Actually No, Jimmy is in NYC attending school with Trina, there is also a rumor that Drake will be in the next movie and because there is a possible wedding it might be his. Snake put on his twitter that he wanted Drake in the movie and i think The exec and drake patched things up

If we see Drake in Degrassi again I will eat my hair. A tweet doesn't mean anything. I've seen plenty of tweets from Stephen Stohn to Drake and Drake has never tweeted back. He doesn't care and he's too big for Degrassi.
Just because he doesnt tweet back doesnt mean he doesnt keep in contact with them
We shall see my friend, like I said, if Drake's back, I will eat my hair.
It's pointless for him to be the on the show, he said he's done many times. His storyline is over, he's a lot bigger now..no reason for him to come back.

Not true. Just look at Julianne Morris returning to ATWT for example.

I've already stated my opinion..not gonna change.

Actually his storyline isnt over, by having him come back in season 8 to say he was getting engaged, it left a window open for him to comeback and get married
Its not as good anymore. I was really hoping for Anya to get preggo bring something more entertaining then just High School stuff. If they wanted to do to high school stuff they should not have done the Rick, Manny, Jt stuff because that really set the standard.
So I emailed the exec producer, stephen stohn and he said that Drake may or may not be in the movie. But he did say Drake lives in NYC where the movie was shot.
Its narrowed down to either Spinner/Emma getting married or Jimmy/Trina which the executive implied since this is the last time we'll see most of the "originals". Cassie Steele says for right now she wants to concentrate on her band KARAMEL.
@Old Friend: Its been hinted that two characters have a random hook up and that there will be a wedding i also think that spinner and emma will hook up, but i think Jimmy and Trina will get married, i only see that fitting
@TheCondition: I know what i miss the old degrassi, I really didn't want anya to get pregnant and if she did i would want her to have a miscarriage, because thats the only pregnancy storyline that have done yet.
