I have lost a lot of hope for The Ruins. The Sunday marathon did nothing. Yikes. :(

Shoot I could tell ya the ratings are going down just by the number of pages in the episode threads from week to week...Steady decline.
I do hope MTV does take into account that the nielsen ratings have gone under fire recently cause they dont include DVR tapings (which I wouldnt be surprised it happens with the ruins) and internet viewing up. The same thing has happened with Lost, 24 and the big shows, where ratings are down but you know DVR and internet viewing is way up.
I just don't understand this! This challenge is damn good TV.
...yet the same people make it to the end. Not only does it get boring and predictable, but it becomes painfully annoying.
People who complain, cry, and still watch are doing what MTV expected of you.
People watch TV for polarizing figures. Either you are loved or hated. Nobody cares for neutral people or underdogs.
Look in Sports the Yankees are the most hated team in Baseball. Guess what their World Series crushed last year World Series where the little lovable Rays were on.
Look at NCAA George Mason NCAA Worst Final Four Ever. When we had all #1 seeds in Final 4, it was great numbers.
If my teams are not involved, I usually watch the teams I hate like the Yankees. Teams like the Twins don't bring out anything out of me. No interest.
If it wasn't JEK controlling **** then it will be somebody else. MTV has their perfect EVIL Empire, everybody wants them to lose at all cost. So they watch and hope it happens.

I fully agree..
and even though im well aware that this forum has a very vocal JEK an/or FM hate, the reality is that, like the Yankees, these guys can have as much fans as they have haters, thus this fans will be less vocal, since when your team is winning you dont feel the necessity to defend them from every attack, since they will not change the actual results.
Actually, JEK have turned people away from challenes. They're having the opposite effect.
And yet, your still watching...
Yeah the people who flock MTV Video Comments about the Challenge. All give JEK hate feedback but on the other hand they still watch.
It's always been great business to have polarizing Characters like I mentioned above.
Because even if you hate them a lot. They still are relevant and get your attention. That's what people don't understand.
If you really can't tolerate them don't watch, don't comment. MTV will get the message that way.
Evan and Kenny didn't become Challenge poster boys by being irrelevant.

Honestly, the numbers should be hovering in the low 2 million range. The fact that people are not watching is proof positive that MTV/BMP needs to recast.
BMP reads this forum daily. They hear what we are saying in addition to the disappointing numbers.

Sometimes people lose interest in shows in general.
Like my first real world season was Austin and since then I have slowly lost interest in the Real World.
Doesn't have to do with the people. It's that I have watched it for awhile now. I think Spoilers have to do a lot with it as well. You know the outcome then why watch?
Instead of watching it on TV religiously like at the beginning, I watch it later on (DVR), or online.
Technology in general made ratings fall.
People either DVR their shows now or watch them online either because they don't have cable or because of preference.
The Challenges have been the only MTV show I have kept the same interest in, even after knowing Spoilers. And for the record I hate JEK, specially Kenny.
think Spoilers have to do a lot with it as well. You know the outcome then why watch?
The problem with that rationale is that there have been spoilers for years and years. Spoilers are not new. Actually, I think that people who look for spoilers are actually real fans and will watch regardless. Let's just say that I have not been surprised by the outcome of any challenge in a very long time, yet I still watch.
You make valid points concerning DVR viewership, but the thing is the numbers are way off for this series. Way off.
It is predictable and most viewers are tired of the progression.
Or maybe its because the Challengers team sucked balls.
They weren't any competition.
I think Casey has turned away more people. Making the games predictable. She sucks so bad that the Challengers team could never win.
Colt, you bring up some very good points. You comparing the ******* to the likes of the Yankees is very accurate. I read comments and JEK are constantly brought up whether it be negative or positive they are being talked about. MTV knows this, thus they keep casting them. I am different though, I watched this challenge to see Veronica. Once she was gone I stopped, I havent watched again. I sure as hell wont watch & hope JEK loose. I could care less if they win or lose so I am not one of the several who still watch hoping to watch them loose.
The ratings are more than disappointing this season. It's clear that the viewers are not flocking to the the TV to see JEK win or lose. There needs to be a change somewhere in this wacky formula has because those numbers are scary. Whether we know it or not, the people on the shows and who they chose to focus on matters. Overdosing on JEK every episode won't make people watch.
Yeah i stopped watching after Veronica left. I am so sick of JEK and hope the next seasons have a better cast.
Eh..good luck with that. Have you seen the spoiler thread?

I think he meant the one after that challenge. *shudder*
Fresh faces like Jasmine and Scott want to do a challenge. Let's hope they appear on the spring Challenge. If they don't get casted...well then I say BMP deserves ****** ratings...Because in all honesty, I'm tired of recycled casts with occasional filler challengers who don't make a peep the whole entire show.

Like I mentioned previously. You need actual competition. Casey has done more to kill rating than anybody else.
Make it seem like the other team can win.
Too many times MTV has made one team way better than the other.
You need actual competition.
Its the RW/RR Challenge. No real challenge. The only reason people watch now is to hate on JEK.

If JEK disappeared tomorrow or did the next 5 challenges I would care less. They don't make me watch the show. Good or bad I have been a fan of the show for many years and will continue to be. There needs to be a balance and they don't have that right now especially in the editing.
