Gee, thats weird. I thought everyone in America "loved Mr. Beautiful."
Even the teenyboppers at MTV.com are getting sick of JEK. Exactly how did John win "Sexiest Male" at the RW Awards, again??
Kenny was a wrestler in, and graduated from, college. So...yeah.
Just because someone graduated from college doesn't mean they are smart.

The episode was ****** anyways.
No RW/RR in the Top 10. But where are The Hills? :laugh1: Media Life also includes an article on The Hills and its dropping viewers:
Judging by recent ratings of MTV's reality show "The Hills," Lauren Conrad is getting the last laugh. Conrad, who had been the focus of the series since its debut in 2006, apparently took a good chunk of its audience with her when she left the show earlier this year. Her replacement as star of "The Hills," Kristin Cavallari, who constantly bested Conrad when both of them were high-school romantic rivals on MTV's "Laguna Beach," isn't the ratings draw MTV hoped she would be. Viewership for the season premiere on Sept. 29 were down 30 percent from the previous season premiere last April, to 2.36 million total viewers, according to Nielsen's live-plus-same-day ratings. MTV pointed out then that the show was still the highest-rated cable show in the channel's target audience, viewers 12-34, as well as the highest-rated program on television in its timeslot in that demographic. But since then ratings have fallen some more, tumbling to 1.72 million viewers for the season's third episode last Tuesday. That episode, which aired at 10 p.m., averaged 1.06 million adults 18-34, the demo "Hills" dominated during its first few seasons. That's less than half the 2.3 million who tuned in to the show at its peak two years ago. It's also down a third from what the show averaged last June, during its most recent season with Conrad, though it remains MTV's ***************** show in the key demo and still ranks in the top 15 on cable. Although Cavallari immediately stirred things up in the premiere by flirting with various series regular's boyfriends, she is apparently less adept at engaging/enraging audiences than the show's previous head villains, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag. That pair, whose wedding last spring was used as the pretext to reintroduce Cavallari into the mix, are now relegated to acting out typical newlyweds plot lines, like buying a house and arguing over when they should start a family. Cavallari's actions are becoming increasingly implausible, even by the loose standards of reality TV. Her flirtation with Justin Bobby, the ex-boyfriend of Conrad's former housemate Audrina Patridge, is a blatant attempt to set up a love triangle reminiscent of the good old days on "Laguna Beach." Her decision to give her own ex-boyfriend Brody Jenner a dog collar and a whip on his birthday--to symbolize how "whipped" he is by his new girlfriend--was just plain silly. Moreover, no one has adequately explained why Cavallari's social life suddenly revolves around people she had either barely known or had not spoken to since she left "Laguna Beach" in 2005. It didn't help that just before she made her debut as star of "The Hills," Cavallari talked to the press about how the show's producers direct her actions. "I pretty much do anything they have me do because I don't care," she told The Los Angeles Times. "I mean, we're filming a TV show. Let's make it interesting. Let's have a good time with it." She told the Times that the other principals treat the show the same way: "Everyone is trying to get story lines and create drama in their lives. It's just so...fake. There's no truth to it. At all." Though this is hardly news to all but the show's most naïve fans, until now many have been willing to suspend disbelief. But when the star herself is rubbing it in their faces, and when the producers seem to be making less and less effort to keep up appearances, is it any wonder that viewers are heading for the hills?
The Hills are in trouble. Dropping from 2.36 million all the way to 1.72 million by Episode 3? Yikes. I am expecting big numbers from The Ruins tonight. EDIT: Oh, and also, Media Life put in some extra information for Episode 3. The Ruins was one of the shows in decline this week...
Show on the decline: MTV's "Real World/Road Rules Challenge," Wednesday 10 p.m. The reality competition fell 24 percent week to week among 18-34s, from 1.44 million to 1.09 million.

Yikes. I am expecting big numbers from The Ruins tonight.
I know JEK is not the only reason the ratings suck, but I am sure it is contributing. The majority of fans are sick of JEK. I don't see the ratings coming up much until the finale and reunion show.
Wooooooooo! THe Ultimate FIghter in top 3! :D Dana WHite must be happy!
Even the teenyboppers at MTV.com are getting sick of JEK. Exactly how did John win "Sexiest Male" at the RW Awards, again??
Johnny campaigned to get Sexiest Male on his IAmOnMTV.com account (maybe elsewhere as well). He kept asking people to vote for him. I think part of the problem for The Ruins is that there is too much focus on only a few people.
i think the Ruins would be better if it had the rules of the gauntlet cuz none of these challengers are gonna beat a champ in the elimination round. or they could of had Alton, Jodi, Theo, or Aviv in there cuz we haven't seen them in awhile. CT too would have been great to have in there too.
Eh i disagree. Some challenge could be about a puzzle or something and that person could easily take out a champ.
I think part of the problem for The Ruins is that there is too much focus on only a few people.
Bingo. BTW, what is MTV's most watched show? Is it the RW?
MTV looks like they have gone back to their old ways as far as repeats are concerned. I only see a 6AM showing on Sunday, and that is it for the next week!
I think part of the problem for The Ruins is that there is too much focus on only a few people.
I agree. I think they would be able to pull in more viewers if they focused on a variety of people.
Any word on the new Episode 4 numbers? Tvbythenumbers has not posted them the day after the airing like they usually do. I guess we'll have to wait until Tuesday for them...
MTV looks like they have gone back to their old ways as far as repeats are concerned. I only see a 6AM showing on Sunday, and that is it for the next week!
I dont see why they aren't repeating Wednesday's episode more. It will probably be the best episode of the season and the one that would likely draw more viewer's to the show. I was at home lastnight and decided to see if any repeats were going to be shown and I looked up the guide on MTV.com and saw that it would only air at 6AM on Sunday. No repeats all day Friday or Saturday? What? I remember when repeats of these shows were on all weekend then the previous three or four epsiodes were also aired before it. Instead Saturday night we have Matrix Revolutions airings back to back on a Saturday night. What has happened to MTV? The entire day they had worthless crap airing. I havent wanted to watch repeats of the Challenge since Gauntlet 2 and when I do want to see them they are not available! Bad promiton of the show could be one reason the ratings arent strong another reason is because I think true die hard fans of the show are really turned off by Johnny, Evan and Kenny. The Island had weak ratings and they dominated that season. Looks like much the same this season. If the producers keep wanting to do this show they need to realize why fans are turning it off.
I think there are lot of things that the producers are doing wrong that could be affecting the ratings. 1. the need to focus on more people. 2. They need to bring back the old school vets 3. I understand that JEK might bring good TV but they need to give them a rest for a while because I do think people are getting turned of by them because whenever all three of them, well at least two of them are on the same challenge it becomes predictable and who wants to watch that.

I really dont think JEK bring good TV. They aren't funny at all, are rude to everyone, and act like 4 year olds. Who wants to watch that?

It just makes the most sense. A lot of my friends who watch casually don't even know who JEK are. They relate to those people they watch on the Real World and RR from way back. I guess age is a big determinant for who you like to see in the challenges. Personally, I like the challenges but not RW anymore.
You know, the fact that the MTV.com Teenyboppers, the same ones that once fawned over John, Evan and Kenny to the point that they voted John as "Sexiest Male"...the fact they they're now getting sick of JEK is very, very telling.

I admit even I voted for John... but that was because in the past he seemed like a totally different guy.. he had a sweetness to him that I found endearing... but this other side of him is not attractive...& it's easy to blame Evan & Kenny for it since they've always been that way... even if that's not fair!
One word - HORRIBLE. Episode 4 Ratings: Real World / Road Rules: The Ruins - 1.492 million viewers - 1.2/2 HH - 0.9/3 A18-49
Sigh...seeing as how last eppy was probaly the highlight of the season, I think it will only get worse from here.

Can somebody explain to me how they do ratings? I mean, not everyone in the world has a nelson media box attached to their TV so how would they know who watches everything? Its so confusing.
I was wondering the same thing too.
If the Tonya/Veronica fight could not cause the ratings to pick up considerably I doubt the numbers will get any better in what's left of this season. JEK's move on Evelyn/KA made for the best ratings of the season so far but will probably cause the rest of the season to sink. While us hardcore fans will probably watch the show no matter what, the truth is that when the average viewer sees something that they don't like they simply stop watching. It's just dissapointing to see people being so unfair and getting away with it. It's not a coincidence that in a movie the good guy always win. That's what people like to see. BMP needs to stop asking back JEK. Either that or they need to make some changes in the rules so that they stop running the show with their poor sportmanship antics. It's not worth it to have 1 or 2 episodes with good ratings at the expense of the whole season. This could ultimately cause MTV not to order additional challenges. The viewers have clearly picked up on the Ev/JEK feud and based on the numbers so far it would seem like more people identify with Ev than they do with JEK. Ev opposed JEK and the numbers went up; she left the challenge and the numbers went down. A challenge with a format in which they would be in opposite teams and that would somehow allow Ev to get her revenge I think would produce good ratings. BTW, I'm not suggesting in any way that the show be rigged. That obviously would be illegal. I'm just suggesting a different format.
Can somebody explain to me how they do ratings? I mean, not everyone in the world has a nelson media box attached to their TV so how would they know who watches everything? Its so confusing.
I doubt the TV ratings mean to represent something that is 100% scientifically accurate. I'm sure they just pick a sample and go with it. Sure there is a margin of error and a standard deviation but for the most part I'm sure it's a fair representation of what people are actually watching. It's all on how representative the sample picked is and I have no doubt that they employ the best statistic methods when selecting the sample. For the purpose that the ratings serve I doubt they need to collect data on what everyone watches; a sample should be good enough.
Can somebody explain to me how they do ratings? I mean, not everyone in the world has a nelson media box attached to their TV so how would they know who watches everything? Its so confusing.
From census data, there is a defined demographic profile of television viewers in the United States. They give out boxes to X number of people based on that profile and use the data obtained to extrapolate viewer trends (i.e. ratings.) One thing that would be interesting to see is DVR viewings of The Ruins, as that added into the total would probably give it a significant boast being younger viewers tend to be more technologically savvy and would be more prone to watching shows on a DVR. Still, these ratings are horrible and as usual I blame JEK. Personally, it is going to be a struggle to watch the remainder of this season being every week the mixture of remaining cast members becomes less palatable. I will watch, but it will be a struggle (last week I watched it via DVR and skipped through the stuff that was irking me.) The format is great. The cast is good. The way things are going down, sucks.
