*ahem*
What were The Hills, et al.'s ratings? I know I'm beating a dead horse, but the word "priorities" is slicing my head open, just like this damn Conservatives for Patient's Rights commercial that's on right now (random thought, but still appropriate).
Hills was like 2.1....lowest hills premiere ever.
Suddenly, the word "schadenfreude" is slicing my head open even deeper.
I don't think that any reality shows are getting as good ratings anymore.
You know, maybe it's because of overkill. It seems that sitcoms (good sitcoms) are gradually making a comeback, much like any art-form. :)
The premiere of RW/RR: The Duel 2 delivered a 1.76 P12-34 rating and averaged 1.78 million viewers
So well down from the Duel II (being total viewers did not even equal 12-34 of DII) and around the same numbers as TRW: Cancun premiere.
They are showing all sorts of repeats this week so hopefully the audience builds and they hit a higher note next week.

If you are correct and sitcoms make a comeback and reality tv dies out I could see reality tv getting a huge backlash. Kind of like when disco died in the early 80's. Everyone had so much hatred towards the music and were really eager to kill it off, I could see the same happening to reality tv.
The Duel
MTV has released the official viewing numbers for the The Duel Real World Road Rules Challenge.

Bunim-Murray Productions is contacting cast members for a possible upcoming Challenge tentatively titled The Duel 2.
The Duel 2 has already aired?
Yes, The Hills was down by 900,000 viewers. Still, it is one of MTV's best rated series.
Sounds bad for the network.
I still do not understand why they do not spend the money to cross promote their shows on other networks. I have been seeing Stargate SGU (Syfy) commercials across the spectrum. Yet, MTV seem to only advertise their shows on MTV.
Sounds like they should fire some people and bring on fresh eyes as there is no question in my mind this is great TV. Spend money to make money.

I think that is a big problem too. I really don't watch anything on MTV anymore. I would not have even known that there was a new challenge if I didn't visit Vevmo. I didn't watch RW Cancun and don't watch the Hills. The last regular programs I watched on MTV were RW Brooklyn and 16 & Pregnant and they weren't advertising The Ruins back then.

Maybe they should get a RW/RR Cast member to be a guest host of WWE Raw. THat's a good way for promotion, seeing as how USA is a bigger network. Many of the 18-31 area watch WWE Raw at that time.

That could be a good idea, since the Miz is a member of the RAW roster.
I think there is hope for this challenge. It may not be of to a strong start, but if MTV keeps replaying episodes and keeps showing commercials, it may make a comeback. The Duel 2 had stronger ratings in the end, so there's no reason the Ruins can't either.
Although I am somewhat disappointed, because I am really starting to like this challenge. I have not been this excited to see the second episode since the Duel 1 aired. This season has potential, and I hope it continues to be as good as it was during the first episode.

An even better idea (for ratings) would be to MAKE The RW/RR Challenge WWE RAW! Muhuhahaha...
Wes: "You want to fight me?"
Darrell: "You, you piece of ****. I'd own you!"

(crowd roar)
I recently decided to visit WWE's website and read that Maria Menounos is co-hosting RAW with Nancy O'Dell next week. Not sure if this will be any help or not, but Menounos HAS hosted the last couple of reunion specials of RW/RR and The Real World.
