So I was just catching up on some posts and thought I'd share some of my thoughts since I've lived here in DC for years. We here in DC are under the impression that the Real World House is located at 2000 S Street, NW (the NW being Northwest DC). That would be in Dupont Circle, one block off Connecticut Avenue and about four 4 blocks from the actual park that is Dupont Circle (it's exterior is obviously a traffic circle). It is indeed Gay Central, but not just gay central, but also "trendy central".... It's touristy but not as much as the monuments and such that are about 1 mile south of Dupont. It is our understanding that the show will begin taping on or about June 20th. Unless we've been well duped, we're pretty sure the location and dates are pretty accurate. The "real world house" is at the intersection of two relatively quiet residential roads, across from Thaiphoon Restaurant and Safeway. One block over, is as I said Conn. Ave., where many small shops and restaurants are located. Cross the circle and you enter the "hub" of DC business and power as you get closer to K street where all the law firms, national and international media (AP, etc.), lobbying firms, etc., keep their offices. What you have to remember is that everything in DC (in the good part of DC which is NW) is within walking distance. Even Georgetown (although G'town is a bit of a hike, yet well worth it for all it's high end shopping and great bars/restaurants and of course the University.) Um.... check out Wonkette : This Could Be MTV’s ‘Real World’ House, In Washington as well as http://www.welovedc.com/2009/06/05/is-this-the-real-world-house-perhaps-it-is/ both are sites that are now actively tracking TRW DC. Hope that helps. Check the thread re: the real world house DC for pics. If things change or if (gasp) we have been successfully misled (re: the house), we'll post corrections... though I believe we are SPOT ON!
Thanks for the update wiggyndc. I used to walk by that house everyday after work, though I wouldn't consider Dupont "gay central" (I see more 'moes in Logan Circle and 17th Street off Dupont is the gayborhood). Do keep us posted on the renovations as I've just moved out of DC.
Hahahaha that post cracked me up!
If only I had properly used my grammar and syntax skills, it would have been funnier (to me) ... replacing the "AND" with "THAN".. ;-) But Thank You... I'll make it my mission to provide reliable info and a smidgen of humor!
I'll make it my mission to provide reliable info and a smidgen of humor!
Haha. I expect that you just sent a certain portion of the Internet population to the urban dictionary.

RealWorld DC has a twitter for cast sightings and what not. I think the info will be pouring in as soon as they start filming.
Just saw this on Twitter: @RealWorldDCNEWZ : Report: Painting Resumes at Real World DC House. Allegedly camera equipment is visible through a fourth floor window (unconfirmed).
I shoulda tried to audition for this season, but oh well haha
I wonder if this season will have a political theme. It would be awesome if they had to work near the white house or something.
They could easily have a political theme. I wouldn't mind it, but it wouldn't thrill me either.
I agree. I have a feeling this season may be close to the original seasons.

Er, well, looks like not everyone is as excited as we are! :p The Anti-Real World DC Seems a little sadistic that they are plotting their heckling strategies already...tsk tsk.

Thus, this reaction is not surprising. What I didn't expect were the surprising number of people who came by to look at the building. Most had their cameras. Word spreads fast here. Without exception, the people I talked to on the street were very supportive and several said they hoped the show did some outreach and perhaps would have a small open house to invite locals to meet the cast. Are you reading, Jim Johnson? That is a brilliant idea -- community outreach!
It's going to be interesting to see how people react once the cast is there. This is the earliest I've heard of a house being broadcast to the public. And before the Cancun season even starts!
Wow! Can't believe some early reactions before filming even starts. Hopefully that's cleared up.
I took two days off Vevmo and RW DC has a house with pics and video posted! I swear, two days without vevmo is like two days with oxygen...

Are you reading, Jim Johnson? That is a brilliant idea -- community outreach!
Totally agree with you on this. The reporter from NPR I spoke to said she thought it was striking that the house is in the middle of an upscale residential neighborhood, taking away at least six street parking spots (a PREMIUM IN DC), and is already generating increased traffic, yet, she said, nobody in the neighborhood was aware of the fact this was happening. "That show is still on the air?" she asked. "Wow, I'm getting old if it's already the 22nd season! Well, I hope they have enough sense to reach out to the neighborhood. We're happy to have them...we just ask that the company and the residents act neighborly" DC is notorious for being anti-BS. DC is a very serious city, with incredibly successful, outspoken and well connected people everywhere. It's best to "join us" rather than "work against us" in DC. And I think that coming across as "We're Bunim-Murray/MTV/The Real World...get out of our way" will not work. In fact, I don't think it, I know it. Most 24 year olds wield plenty more (entitled) power than an entertainment television program. Not passing judgment, but certainly trying to help make this successful. ::discuss::.
@realwordDCNEWZ reports the following: "#TheRealWorldDC cast to lounge @ trendy hotspot "Halo Lounge", workout @ "WSC" or "Vida Fitness" & munch on "Thai Phoon"? " “Real World” at 2000 S St NW; a Halo Lounge Angle? Borderstan
Those are some nasty comments. Hopefully the cast does help the community to prove them all wrong.
Those are some nasty comments. Hopefully the cast does help the community to prove them all wrong.
No matter what, there will always be a subset of people that complain about these types of things (which is why the vast majority of shows stay in film friendly LA.) The reality is, this "incursion" will have little impact on the daily lives of most in the community and might actually shed light on some local charities and causes before all is said and done.
I have heard that filming got pushed back to the beg. of 2010? or maybe that was for season 24?
I have heard that filming got pushed back to the beg. of 2010? or maybe that was for season 24?
I think it will air in the beginning of 2010.
I have heard that filming got pushed back to the beg. of 2010? or maybe that was for season 24?
Where have you "heard" such news? Please provide a link. I feel fairly confident in saying that is definitely NOT for this season.
Yeah, that's definitely not true. See Forum on Real World DC House for plenty of media coverage of the house and the fact it begins in less than two weeks.
I have heard that filming got pushed back to the beg. of 2010? or maybe that was for season 24?
You need to hear things in better places. The District of Columbia government confirmed today, on camera, that the show begins taping before the end of this month.
Sorry.. I am guessing the BMP employee meant season 24 would start filming in the beginning of 2010
