I agree, and I stated it earlier in the thread. I guess he feels she is fake because she tries to be understanding and caring and open-minded. I think that's being someone who has a big heart and is respectful of people and tries to be a good person. I really don't understand why some people think that someone is a fake person because they are nice. I get that Ryan thinks she is trying too hard to empathize with people when she says something like "African-Americans are my favorites" and then says "Jewish people are my favorites" and keeps saying everyone and everything are her favorites. However, it is possible to really care about people of different backgrounds and people with different viewpoints and to really respect them. And that's what I feel Ryan doesn't quite understand.
Also, I think it was in the "JD breaks the table and yanks the phone" episode, they were saying she was a hypocrite because she didn't want to deal with JD. Well, she can be a nice person and also decide that it's not worth her time to waste energy on someone who she thinks is not a positive person in her life. I don't really know what it would take for Ryan (or Chet) to see her differently or get him to like her, honestly. That's not to say that Ryan is not a good person or doesn't like good people, but he is extra hard on Sarah for being the way she is. I guess he may possibly want her to be more of an opinionated person, maybe, and say exactly what's on her mind without having much of a filter on it. I think it's really sad that Ryan doesn't seem to be able to get past that. I think Sarah cares about him and could be a good friend to him.
I concur with everything you said. However, while Chet and Sarah have had issues Chet tries to look past that and is friends with Sarah. Scott is even friends with her and of course the girls are close. It's just Jd and and Ryan that have these latent issues with her for stupid reasons.
I didn't really like the edit of this reunion show. There was more than one instance in which someone said something and the other person's response got caught off. Like when Katelynn quoted JD on how the fact that him being gay is his story to tell but apparently she didn't have the right to do the same. I wanted to see what JD had to say to that, oh well.
I don't know why am I not surprised that JD tried to justified himself. I'm glad he failed at doing so because, to me, none of the "arguments" he made made any sense at all. While I am mostly on the girls side, I can totally see why he would be ****** that he got blamed for the pranks that the girls pulled and I can see why he would not feel like he owes anyone an apology. If the girls' justification for having blamed him for the prank is all the things he did to them then in a way they are admitting that they were seeking "revenge" and in that sense things should be even. At this point I don't think that anyone owes anyone an apology.
Apparently while he chose not to post on here Ryan does read vevmo. It was pretty clear to me that when he quoted Katelynn on the comments she made regarding the conversation they had while she was at the computer, he was referring to some comments she made on here. While I disagree with almost everything he has to say I think it would've been interesting to see his take on the episodes on here.
That dosen't necessarily mean Ryan reads vevmo. Katelyn posted a blog on the mtv website about the computer inident with Ryan and about how her eyes showed she was upset.

I am a daycare provider and the first thing I teach my children, is we do not use the word stupid, it is a very hurtful immature word.
And how and the **** do you know the reasons, because of what you have seen on TV. Trees you have been here long enough to know we are not getting the full story. It is sad to me that this man is out there fighting for you right now and you down him. Do you know anyone in the military, are you in the military? Get over it, I wish he could pick and choose as to who he could fight for because these things I read on here about an American soldier returning to war, who might not even come back. And this is what he gets? A bunch of snotty little quips at him? Good Lord what is he fighting for? This is why people go to school with guns, they get picked at and picked at until there is nothing left but the fight in them.
Ryan Conklin I am proud of you, proud that you stand up for this place we love. Proud that I had a glimpse in the life of someone who has defended my personal rights. Come back safe Ryan, there are people who love you and support you 100%.

Much <3 here Kathleen. I have all 25,000 books from the "In Death" series. Even though they're the Danielle Steele version of Murder Mystery, they're my guilty pleasure. I enjoy her grandiloquent writing style and her odd obsession with canapés. And don't even get me started on the love scenes with Roarke. Those scenes have been the fuel to many spontaneous moments with my boyfriend, hah!
My best friend really likes JD Robb. I've never read any by her but now I have two more recommendations!
Katelynn, may I introduce you to our Favorite Authors thread? Would love to get your input! :)
It's funny- I like Ryan, Chet and Sarah. Although I do disagree with some of the things Ryan says, he is an amazing person. He is funny, goofy and try's not to take things so seriously (the house gets the best of you, in real life he is just a goofy dude). That being said, obviously there is more to the Sarah Story. I like Sarah a lot, I can relate to her. I don't think she is fake, I think she is nice. I am the type of person who would try to make any gender, race or religion feel comfortable around me. I can see myself saying "African American's" are my favorite or "Jewish" people are my favorite, so they would feel comfortable around me. I don't think it's fake, I think it's nice and comforting. The truth is you can have a lot of favorites. I don't think she was being hypocritical. But obviously people who have watched it, not just on here, think she and kate are holier than thou, so maybe my vision is a bit skewed?
i vote for a good old fashioned boys night/sleepover with all the brooklyn boys. There would be a sign on the door: "ryan's clubhouse. Boys only! No girls allowed!" we could drink a keg of beer, play strip pool, and have "chef" tell risque stories. Good times.
an all guys night with strip pool huh...interesting ;)

From my myopic corner of the planet, your vision appears to be about 20-20.
You know I think Sarah's facial expressions have something to do with the reason Ryan doesn't like her...when she is listening she makes this face that I see as "concentration" (I can't think of the right word to use) but my husband saw it as "smug" we were talking about this yesterday when I was watching again because I needed a good laugh (the pranks and Ryan and Chet's face when they were rinsing thier mouths out were priceless!) but the reunion came on again afterwards and that is what he said he saw in her eyes.
IDK...just my two cents on the Ryan/Sarah hate.
From my myopic corner of the planet, your vision appears to be about 20-20.
thank you very much V1man!
and Stacee i think you are 100% right. facial expressions are crucial in telling if the person is real or fake. But sometimes Sarah's expressions seem more smug and self absorbed than comforting. It doesn't mean she is at all, that's why you can't judge a book by its cover. But some people have "different" facial expressions. It's almost like telling a joke over the computer and someone take it seriously. They didn't read it properly, just like how some people don't read facial expressions properly.

Man if I had a dollar for every talk I got for "the tone of my emails" I would be rich...I am just short and to the point and my so-workers that don't know me personally think I am rude.
I hope that other people understand what I was trying to say as well as you did CRG, thanks :)
Despite my disagreeing with Ryan on some things, I am proud of him for serving Iraq and wish him the best. That, to me, is a completely separate thing from commenting on him pranking, his comments about his roommates, etc. I can disagree with people and still like them. I can't speak for anyone else's overall feelings on Ryan, but issues were brought up during the show and the reunion, and I commented on them in the moments and upon reflection of them. I've pointed out what I felt the good and the bad about him. And overall I still found him likeable. There is a vunerability about him and a boyish appeal to him that I find endearing.
Rachel from RW Austin - same thing. I find her respectable for serving in Iraq and commend her, but that doesn't stop me from disagreeing with her or her actions sometimes.

Very Nicely written and I completely agree with you. I wish I could have written the same words.

I have my sources and on top of that some of the roomates have come here and explained the Sarah/Ryan ordeal. They lived with them, so are you going to say they were clueless, yet they lived with him. I always liked Ryan and RESPECT what he's doing for this country that's honorable. I hope he come back safe. All the roomates have done things wrong in the Brooklyn house including SARAH. With that being said Ryan's HATE is not at all warranted.

Now we're judging people based on their facial expression. Well, I wasn't going to pull that card out, but now I will. Many times when Sarah had the floor to speak during the reunion Ryan would grin and laugh a little. I guess I should say there was something going on there.

He can hate/dislike who he wants. Who are you to say so? Seriously, who cares.
He can hate/dislike who he wants. Who are you to say so? Seriously, who cares.
Seriously? Perhaps some people do care because they they genuinely feel connected to the cast. This is the nature of reality TV. They are our neighbors, friends, relative, even ourselves, taken from among us and placed before us on national TV. It is the unique nature of the genre, separate and apart from scripted TV or movies where trained professional actors knowingly play their roles. People develop attachments to reality stars for some reason. Some psychologists who have studied the phenomenon suggest that the contemporary detached lives that many lead today, reality stars give us a window into ourselves, and provide a means to be connected to a larger community beyond our own lives.
Someone who develops an attachment to the good and redeeming qualities that Ryan displays can certainly express the view that his comments about and interaction with Sarah on the finale and during the reunion show cause significant cognitive dissonance that grate against their positive view of him.
Seriously, yes, people can develop the need to care. On the other hand, one might conclude any number of potential explanations for the dismissive nature of your comment.

Well that's fine, but trees said that his hate is not warranted. He has the freedom to have a dislike for whoever he wants. I have no problems with any of the cast members, but I took to Ryan and Chet a little more and if another castmember were to dislike/hate them. So be it! No skin of my back. JMHO

The "he" to whom you refer is a young lady.
Someone who develops an attachment to the good and redeeming qualities that Ryan displays can certainly express the view that his comments about and interaction with Sarah on the finale and during the reunion show cause significant cognitive dissonance that grate against their positive view of him.
Ooh, points to V1Man for use of the term "cognitive dissonance." I'm a psychologist (working on my doctorate), and man, do I love me some cognitive dissonance. I agree, though, it can be striking in a not-so-good way to see someone display qualities that conflict with your perception of who he is. And the rule of cognitive dissonance suggests that one would then start trying to find a way to resolve that conflict.

LOL @ the love scenes. We pass on our books in our family and it's always a bit embarrassing to read something knowing that your own mother read that too. I'm 33 and still haven't gotten past that my mom has a *** life too.
Whenever, my girlfriends and I go on our annual trips we always go to an Irish Pub in search for Roarke! No luck so far. I met JD Robb aka Nora Roberts a few years back on my first excursion into the US... wonderful woman. Anyway, it's always great to meet other fans.
I wanted to mention that I thought it was interesting that Baya mentioned having panic attacks, and how that wasn't shown. I struggled with anxiety for years--still do; it's hard to move past, and it runs in my family--and I think it would have been so interesting to see that story. A lot of people don't realize how much anxiety can affect your life, and so many people suffer from it without being able to identify what it is. I personally took up meditation and deep breathing a few years ago, which really moved me forward in my own battle, and now I actually have had the opportunity as a therapist to see clients with anxiety issues and panic disorder and to do school counseling with children who are experiencing anxiety. I know there were a lot of other big, important stories, but I wish they had spent any time at all on this issue. And Baya, if you're reading this, I totally empathize. I have to do my diaphragmatic breathing all the time to stay focused. Grad school isn't a friend to anxiety.
A status update by Katelynn today on Facebook says she has quite her IT job. Both here and at the reunion show she mentioned that is was unsatisfying.
I wish her all the best. She is wickedly talented.
A little vevmo love thrown in her direction would be a nice thing... :give_rose:

hi i'm jessie i'm new here so this is my first time posting. V1man since you went to the reunion show i wanted to ask if Baya said anything else on how she felt with Ryan having to go back to Iraq. I do remember reading her blog where she said that she was taking deep breathing methods and meditation. I just wanted to know becuase on the show it looked like she had more to say on the topic of her relationship with Ryan.
I'm new also. :)
I really did love this cast my favorite season so far. I've watched TRW for a while now and this was the best cast I've seen. In my opinion of course.
I liked the reunion it was good and Maria was a great host. They showed a lot of Baya so that was awesome!!!! I'm really going to miss them. I'm glad they all got somewhat over their issues. I like that they get along I like them all.... except JD to be honest.
