Okay, I'm going to say it. I was surprised to find out during the reunion that Ryan had stopped to ask Katelyn multiple times if it was okay to continue with their conversation about her surgery. I was further surprised to find out that Sarah was in the room and she too did not see anything wrong with the conversation. Don't flame me, but I really love hearing both sides of the story, and I thought I got that threw the reunion. It's why I always take everything I read with a grain of salt. I'm not saying that Katelyn was lying with her interpretation of what happened and how it made her feel. I'm just saying that the extra information provided was very enlightening.
Each person had his or her own perspectives on the conversation. I think each one is entitled to own his or her views. Having come to know Katelynn a little more than most in this process, I see it as an issue of the life experience of each of them. During the reunion taping I think Sarah said she that discussion was not uncomfortable for her, because it could have taken place withing her family -- they one open and inquisitive. Ryan, for all his good qualities as a soldier, admits his massive inexperience at may things. Part of the way he deals with new things in through humor (his view of humor is not always another's view). Since it was Katelynn's view that really counts (in my opinion) because it is her story to tell, she endeavored to explain the background to Ryan, while not really having had much time to consider how to explain it to someone who might not by background be accepting of her. In this discussion she was facing the potential rejection of the house's Alpha Male. Each of the three wore their individual blinders. The conversation was awash with cognitive dissonance.
I recall Katelynn saying in confessional that she was glad that she and Ryan had that talk. So unless the word "not" was edited out, she changed her tune. It seemed like she had residual bad feelings about Ryan indicating that he felt that she was easy to spot.
There was nothing within the context of what we spoke about that I had issues with; Ryan was not the first person I have ever shared my story with. What I did have issues with was Ryan's "right to know" - that mentality where he somehow deserves to know my intimate details because he believes he's entitled to it. That is what made me uncomfortable, that is what I have issues with. And Ryan saying "you're welcome" during the reunion made me mad enough to murder (I think this may not have been shown on the reunion ep. edit, V1Man can you help jog my memory?).
This reunion, although a tad rushed with way too many commercials, was a hell of a lot better than Hollywood, so in that aspect I am pleased. A few observations: 1. Who is this Maria chick? She's smoking hot and a fantastic host but I'm drawing blanks on who she is?? 2. Dayum - Ryan looks good in uniform. I'm glad he was there after all, even though he acted like a jerk towards Sarah. 3. Ryan and Baya?? Not my idea of a good match but hey if the feelings are there then more power to them - good luck. 4. It is very clear that Katelynn had a vendetta, a score to settle if you will. I know her intentions were justified but I cant help feeling that she came off looking bad. Maybe it was just the edit, I dont know. 5. JD - I love him, but I feel that he really missed out on an opportunity to redeem himself. As I stated before, he did some things that were wrong and shady, even though I don't think he is the monster that everyone makes him out to be. I think he should have owned up to his part of what happened and apologize. He is right though that everybody talked about each other behind their backs, but still that was a missed opportunity that he really should have taken advantage of. 6. Scott is such a great guy - wish I had a life size poster of him lol 7. Devyn did not yell and scream - I'm impressed! 8. Baya got to talk....woohooo!!!! Girl was looking good too - now I really hate Ryan, lol j/k A great end to an outstanding season - best one since Chicago in my opinion!
Random thoughts I'm surprised there's still so much aggression among the cast. Katelynn not forgiving JD like JD forgave Chet really makes JD seem like the bigger person. How can a guy as hot as Scott still be so sweet? You don't see that very often.

You did lose it for a bit (with provocation), because Ryan was a little disingenuous -- maybe more than a little, but it was mostly face-saving in my opinion. The "I've a right to know" argument sounds too much like a defense of the "don't ask, don't tell" military barracks mantra to me, and I reject it out of hand as blatant homophobia. From my vantage point from behind the audience, I recall the discussion as you do.
So Ryan is still homphobic V1? Katelyn, is a sweet gal and she held her own. You go Katelyn, strong and fierce.
I recall Katelynn saying in confessional that she was glad that she and Ryan had that talk. So unless the word "not" was edited out, she changed her tune. It seemed like she had residual bad feelings about Ryan indicating that he felt that she was easy to spot.
I read the her blog on the dailies and did get that same impression. But I'm referring to her comment here on vevmo: "I did do a pretty good job of hiding my frustration when Ryan talked with me, but look in my eyes, they totally say "I'm going to cut you". So, if it pissed her off or if she was uncomfortable talking about it, why not end the conversation when Ryan asked if they should?

I guess what I'm trying to say is that by the way the episode was edited, and through Katelyn's account, it appeared as if Ryan was was crossing some serious line in probing her for information. I had no idea that Sarah was in the room, nor did I know that he was asking her if she was uncomfortable throughout the conversation. It makes me think that she continued with the conversation because she is too nice to tell him to buzz off. But now we've got this bad image of Ryan, although it was clear from the get-go that he was inquiring about it for selfish reasons (or curiosity's sake, however you want to look at it).
Which is absolutely a stupid reason to hate someone and not be friends with them because of it.
I agree, and I stated it earlier in the thread. I guess he feels she is fake because she tries to be understanding and caring and open-minded. I think that's being someone who has a big heart and is respectful of people and tries to be a good person. I really don't understand why some people think that someone is a fake person because they are nice. I get that Ryan thinks she is trying too hard to empathize with people when she says something like "African-Americans are my favorites" and then says "Jewish people are my favorites" and keeps saying everyone and everything are her favorites. However, it is possible to really care about people of different backgrounds and people with different viewpoints and to really respect them. And that's what I feel Ryan doesn't quite understand. Also, I think it was in the "JD breaks the table and yanks the phone" episode, they were saying she was a hypocrite because she didn't want to deal with JD. Well, she can be a nice person and also decide that it's not worth her time to waste energy on someone who she thinks is not a positive person in her life. I don't really know what it would take for Ryan (or Chet) to see her differently or get him to like her, honestly. That's not to say that Ryan is not a good person or doesn't like good people, but he is extra hard on Sarah for being the way she is. I guess he may possibly want her to be more of an opinionated person, maybe, and say exactly what's on her mind without having much of a filter on it. I think it's really sad that Ryan doesn't seem to be able to get past that. I think Sarah cares about him and could be a good friend to him.
I didn't really like the edit of this reunion show. There was more than one instance in which someone said something and the other person's response got caught off. Like when Katelynn quoted JD on how the fact that him being gay is his story to tell but apparently she didn't have the right to do the same. I wanted to see what JD had to say to that, oh well. I don't know why am I not surprised that JD tried to justified himself. I'm glad he failed at doing so because, to me, none of the "arguments" he made made any sense at all. While I am mostly on the girls side, I can totally see why he would be pissed that he got blamed for the pranks that the girls pulled and I can see why he would not feel like he owes anyone an apology. If the girls' justification for having blamed him for the prank is all the things he did to them then in a way they are admitting that they were seeking "revenge" and in that sense things should be even. At this point I don't think that anyone owes anyone an apology. Apparently while he chose not to post on here Ryan does read vevmo. It was pretty clear to me that when he quoted Katelynn on the comments she made regarding the conversation they had while she was at the computer, he was referring to some comments she made on here. While I disagree with almost everything he has to say I think it would've been interesting to see his take on the episodes on here.
Baya, honey, if you're reading the threads, hang on in there. I know it must be very tough for you to be dealing with Ryan heading out to war again. I pray for his safe and healthy return. Good luck to the both of you.

Just wanted to note that I completely understand why a "right to know" attitude would **** you off. If I were in your shoes and was called out like that I'd be pretty livid. I'm not saying that I would have stopped the conversation if I was in your situation (in fact I know I wouldn't have), but I still wonder why you didn't? I'm asking because I've got my own ideas on why that are based on how I would feel (****ed, yet thinking "too late now", mixed with a little "let's get this over with"). No?

I had assumed it was Baya telling Ryan what she read of Katelynn's comments. I would guess if Baya saw something disparaging of Ryan from a roommate, she would let him know.

He claims not everyone is going to like you so you should Not try to please everyone. Your right she has a big heart and wants to accept EVERYONE and wants everyone to like her. Ryan on the other hand seems to hate people like that. Seems to me now that he dosen't want to like everyone. Sarah, was nothing but nice to Ryan despite his commernts towards her at the reunion.

I guess in general I can say that I enjoyed the show. There were though a few instances in which some strong arguments were made and the responses to such arguments weren't shown to us. Maybe the castmembers who post on here or anyone who attended the reunion show can fill in the blanks for us.
Baya's first album release event was tonight in NY, so she probably won't read anything here for a while.
I realize I might be going off-topic here but this was something that was mentioned in the reunion show and I don't think it's worth starting a new thread about it, but my question is: Is she releasing an album in which she sings? She mentioned something about having been producing and working on tracks but it's not clear whether she's going to be singing, or if it's like an electronic music album, or perhaps if she's producing for another artist.
2. Dayum - Ryan looks good in uniform.
Hottest! I have to do deep breathing exercise when I see him in shorts and a wife beater but this is even better. Love a man in uniform, like a lot. That's why I'm not allowed to volunteer at the USO anymore. I was getting tired of the knit cap over unwashed hair look he was sporting in the last few episodes. So this is a big improvement.

I almost always feel like something is left out during reunions. Sometimes I wonder if this or that is even brought up during a reunion. And I sometimes wonder how much in depth certain discussions went. Sometimes what might seem like the smallest things are interesting to viewers as well. I can understand it's got to be difficult to edit these things and pick out what is the most important. Something that was interesting to me is that they had a format of taped one on one interviews and a studio group session in front of an audience. I've thought about this being done for a while, although I didn't think it was needed much in the way they used it. Perhaps had they had taped interviews of the cast giving their take on each other overall after having watched the whole season (in addition, it could have been interesting. Or maybe they could have had the cast answer their most asked questions. Different possibilities. I think both the one on one taped interviews and the studio group sessions have their benefits, and that's why I'm interested in having both.

The problem is that you then can never trust whether they are being honest to you or just saying something to make you feel better. Ryan strikes me as someone who prizes integrity and gives their honest assessment. Lord knows he often did. So he just doesn't like people who say things just to be nice about it. I agree with him on that. Don't tell me a shirt looks good on me if it really looks like crap. I want to know the truth so I can act on it.
Serious Question for Katelyn, when you were being solo interviewed in the reunion footage, what wallpaper was that in your background? It looked like some yellowish plasma display on the monitor, looked impressive.
I understand people who try to be nice by giving false compliments to make people feel better. The problem is that you then can never trust whether they are being honest to you or just saying something to make you feel better.
This I do understand. But I feel sometimes in our society, people have a tendency to just assume that someone is nice all the time is fake. That bothers me. Yes, there are people who really do come across as phony - people who are complimenting people in ways that seem untruthful, as you mentioned, is often not genuine. But to me Sarah does seem to be very caring, and Ryan just seemed to have such anger towards her for being sweet. The level of anger he seems to have for her, and calling her the b word over it, I just don't understand.
A very warm hello to everyone! Wow, so surreal it's all coming to an end. I'll be blogging about my feelings more in depth at Baya Voce Official Homepage later. I just got done with my album release party which was amazing! To clear up some questions, the album is just instrumentals that I produced. You can find them on itunes under DJ Baya Voce. I would love the support, even if it is just a comment. Thanks so much to all of you for watching and being so involved with our season, it was such a special time for all of us... so on everyone's behalf; thank you.
Does Devyn still live with Scott and baya? Does she like any of the boys? She was sitting far away from everyone else and she seemed quiet.
Best of luck to you with everything, Baya. I just checked out your website and will have to remember to visit again to read your blog. Perhaps I will check out your music, too.
Does Devyn still live with Scott and baya? Does she like any of the boys? She seemed quite only because most of the discussions in which she participated (especially the "college dropout" discussion were not used. JD took quite a beating in that one. To her credit, Devyn is much more interested in the future than what happened late summer and fall last year. She would much have preferred to discuss what the cast is doing now.

Am I hearing things or was there a vevmo shoutout at the end of the reunion show?
