What did you even do?

lol.

I didn't even realize it was you. I'm not trying to be a ****, I really don't see a change.

I crossed out the Miz's name on Darrell's section.

10. Landon (Inferno 2, Gauntlet 2, Duel 2, Fresh Meat 2)

Look, I’m not going to sit here and say that Landon is exceptionally entertaining. His whole thing is that he’s the total nice guy. He’s the whole package: attractive, athletic, and genuinely nice. It’s hard not to like this guy, and his record is impressive. He’s won 3 out of 4 challenges he appeared on, and let’s be honest, he should probably have a perfect record. He lost to Brad on what was essentially a technicality and he got screwed into going into that duel simply by BEING NICE and getting some pens and papers!!! Sadly being nice was his ultimate downfall there. Landon had an impressive rookie season, and killed it mission after mission on the Good Guys team. Plus, he certainly had the most entertaining haircut on the challenge (sorry, Zach M). Landon deserves to rank this high on a pure competitive level. Watching him literally carry his partner Carley up a mountain to cross the finish line was seriously impressive (Carley wasn’t a small girl afterall.) I doubt we will ever see Landon again, but we’ll remember for his good guy persona, athleticism, his love for sequels, and of course his bromance with MJ (they have matching tattoos…)

10. Paula (Duel, Inferno 3, Gauntlet 3, Island, Duel 2, Fresh Meat 2, Cutthroat, Rivals, Battle of the Exes, Rivals 2)

Oh Paula. The ultimate hot mess on a show chockfull of hot messes.  She is of course the winner to my clue for the person who has cried on every challenge. And she’s been on a LOT of challenges. Chances are when you think of Paula, you think of her drunk baby voice, and mascara running down her face through her tears. Chances are when you think of Paula, you go “ugh”. Paula is one of those cast members that everybody cheered for and loved initially and wanted her on more challenges because she was awesome, and then she kept coming back and we were all like holy SHIT GET THE **** OFF MY TV SCREEN I HATE YOU. But Paula wasn’t all bad. She was kind of awesome on her first challenge, calling Aneesa out into the duel and beginning an epic challenge-long “rivalry”. I say “rivalry” because they weren’t really rivals, just constantly in elimination with one another. Paula was pretty lowkey on her first few challenges, and then came the Island. Aka the challenge that broke everybody (see also: Johnny, Ev, Robin, Dan, Kellyanne, Johanna). Up to this point, Paula was very in with the JEK alliance, and then they totally screwed her over in the end, and this began the start of a long, long history of Paula getting screwed over and crying. You couldn’t help but feel bad for her then, even if you knew those other people couldn’t be trusted and wanted to smack Paula for thinking they ever cared.  The biggest problem with Paula was she wanted to be everything to everyone: one minute she was this “tough girl”, then she was the “wise-guy” cracking jokes all the time, then paranoid like crazy, then drunken crybaby mess. Sometimes she was ALL of these things in the course of 42 minutes! You never knew what Paula you would get on each challenge, but you knew you could count on her for something each challenge. Paula genuinely did improve by her last few challenges, both competitively and socially. Somehow, even ger cutesy little jokes that were once eyeroll-worthy became actually kind of funny. Still, I can’t get over the fact that they literally fabricated “rivalries” for her with the two strongest female competitors to finally ger her a win. Not to mention the time she literally pointed and laughed at Cara Maria’s misery and the audacity to cry in the corner once the finger got rightfully pointed at her.

9. Timmy (Battle of the Seasons, Inferno, Gauntlet 2, Inferno 3)

Timmy aka the joker of the challenges. Timmy is a challenge legend. He’s from the second season of Road Rules, and is one of the most popular cast members from the “glory days” of the challenges. And how could he not be? He was genuinely funny even if he was corny. He was also just genuine. I can still remember how guilty he felt when he pulled the short straw and had to eliminated Yes/Veronica on BOTSeasons, because ultimately he knew it wasn’t a right decision. Timmy and Emily killed it that challenge, and managed to keep their dignity along the way. Well, Timmy DID pee all over a car made of ice, so maybe dignity isnt the right word. The only time I can truly say Timmy bothered me was on the Inferno when he selfishly allowed Kendal to sacrifice herself to save him from the Inferno. It was uncharacteristically cowardly for Timmy, and thankfully he redeemed himself on Gauntlet 2 when he volunteered to go against Derrick and felt genuinely terrible when he eliminated him. It was one of the more heartbreaking eliminations, but nothing compares to Timmy’s own sendoff on Inferno 3. It was truly one of the most well-done moments in the challenge history. It hit all the right emotional beats, and the montage of his best moments was worthy of a few tears, not gonna lie. His speech to everybody was so well-done and made you appreciate Timmy that much more. Sadly, he has permament scars from the elimination. But come on guys, Timmy’s BEST moment occurred when Aneesa was screaming at Cara on the Gauntlet and he mocked her the entire time in the background. Challenge GOLD.

9. Emily B (Extreme Challenge, Battle of the Seasons, Battle of the Sexes)

Timmy’s partner Emily has not appeared on a challenge, or on television, in over 12 years. But she is still worthy of the top 10. Emily was in a lot of ways the first of many things in this challenge. She was the first “challenge *****”, considering she was the first person to appear on 3 consecutive challenges. She was also really the first elite female cast member. She was a beast competitor in most eliminations, but she was also the first person to really become jaded because of this game. We would see it a lot after: people start as idealistic rookies and they eventually turn into cutthroat veterans, but Emily started this trend. She started as somebody who just genuinely loved competition and wanted to play the game fair. She was competitive to a fault, like when she got pissed that Julie was determined the winner of their race down a wall in Extreme Challenge because she felt Julie cheated, and then refused a rematch because of the principle of it all. She didn’t want to vote off the strongest teams on BOTSeasons initially because it felt like poor gameplay and because she could be out of the inner circle, and she was genuinely disgusted with Holly and Chadwick’s gameplay. But then came BOTSexes and by this point Emily had seen how ugly people will get for money, and the paranoia set in. Emily masterminded two of the most shocking eliminations ever in Rachel and Veronica. Hers and Veronica’s feud was the stuff of legend. At one point Ruthie told Emily that Aneesa was trying to sabotage her and Emily was like “LOL Aneesa isnt a threat, but anyways let’s vote off Veronica”. Truly, Emily CREATED the Veronica we all know and love today. Veronica was actually a pretty straightforward game-player and not at all manipulative until she got screwed over TWICE in a row, both times by Emily. Emily may not have started the cutthroat nature of the game (she was there, but it was really Hollywick) but she certainly kept the tradition. She brought it all on BOTSexes. She had drama, romance, manipulation, tears. But the main thing was you either LOVED Emily or HATED her. You were either completely with her because you hated Veronica or you felt that she was basically evil. The biggest problem with Emily though is that after all her manipulation and backstabbing in BOTSexes, she ended up quitting because her boyfriend, James, was eliminated. It was one of the true WTF frustrating decisions where if you had any respect for the girl, you certainly lost it there. It’s a shame that she stopped there, because it really does make her look pathetic. I think truly Emily was the first person to be chewed up and spit out by this game, and was too embarrassed to ever return. I imagine if she had a better time on BOTSexes (or a better edit), we would have seen her a few more times.

Next update will be 8-6 for guys and girls

Hints:

- Two people who made their challenge debuts on the same season

- One person who appeared on the very first challenge (not RR All stars)

- Two people who provide humor: one intentionally, one NOT intentionally usually

aww Beth is coming up next :/

I think it's gonna be Theo, Mark, Aneesa and Tonya

Kenny/Darrel, Diem, Beth and Theo V. I guess

Emily B will always be on the Mount Rushmore of challenge ladies for me.  Seeing her in the top 10 is great, but top 5 would have been better

At first I thought this was a list compling the best challenge competitors ever, so when I saw Landon (who is the goat) at number 10 I was completely thrown off. Then I read the original post again. This should be titled "Most Influential Challenge Rankings"

  1. Aneesa and Tonya
  2. Mark
  3. Kenny and Katie

Which would leave us with one more dude:

Theo V.

I was right in all my pickings for this update! Yay!

But yeah..Timmy was a great guy and funny too. I think his exit while sad, was one of the best challenge moments because it was so well done but it was sad because we're losing a great castmember.

Emily...She had it all and did it all on this show and I think her quitting on Sexes 1 really tainted her game a bit. I usually don't mind quitters but with her it really was just so WTF and frustraiting as the write up said because she was so cutthroat and cold and then for her to leave because of James..It just looks bad on her part.

Paula..Count me as one of those people whom didn't mind Paula on her early shows then after a certain point(after The Island mainly) I really just couldn't stand her and I wanted her off my ******* TV ASAP. So glad she's done now.

Landon-This guy to me is the best competitor to ever grace these shows. He was nice, able to keep an even keel, and was a ******* beast to the core. Landon is the king of challenges and I don't give a damn what anyone says.

And my next update thoughts.

1.I think it's Kenny and Diem or Aneesa and Tonya.

2.It has to be either Mark or Beth. Probably Mark because I think Beth made a bigger impact on the show than he did therefore she would be higher than him.

3.For this one I say Theo and Katie.

I haven't posted in this thread yet but I've been reading it from the beginning. This has been very well done and impressively objective unlike a lot of the other rankings/descriptions thread. I'm going to guess that the next update is either Beth/Theo/Diem/Kenny or Mark/Theo/Tonya/Aneesa. I lean towards the latter because I think that Kenny and Diem have had more of an impact on the shows than Mark and Aneesa. Diem's been a "main character" on every show that she's done except for the Ruins and Aneesa has had far fewer plotlines on her seasons. The Jenn/Rachel triangel and a few arguments (Trishelle/Robin/Cara Z) being the only real things. Same goes for Mark/Kenny. I like Mark a lot but I feel like he talks more about how important he is than actually doing something on the show aside from talking about how he's so old but can still compete and that one time he punched a bus. Kenny, like him or not, has been a main part of the edit and a pushed character on the show on almost every show he's done and had a full season where it was pretty much marketed as the Kenny vs Wes season.

My guesses for the remaining rankings:

Men

1.) CT

2.) Bananas

3.) Miz (only 3rd because of how much shorter his run was comparatively and not factoring in the Real World)

4.) Wes

5.) Kenny

6.) Derrick

7.) Mark

8.) Theo

Women:

1.) Coral

2.) Veronica

3.) Katie

4.) Diem

5.) Beth

6.) Julie

7.) Tonya

8.) Aneesa

I think we'd is 2 or 3. I mean he is the most hated player in the game, everyone tries to get him out starting day one. He forms rookie alliances and rarely works with vets

I really hope Backpack isn't #1. That would be a dissapointing end to this great rankdown. I needs to be either CT, Wes, or Mike(Back to New York).

I think it's tough to gauge Wes (and of course these aren't my ranking and I don't want to step on mph's toes). Wes started hot with the Fresh Meat and the Duel and then had two seasons where he was a headliner in the Ruins and the Fresh Meat 2. But, he did go out early on both of those seasons and, realistically he only had 3 episodes (1, 2, and 5) on the Ruins where he was a major character. Then you have Exes 1 and Seasons where he was a non factor and even though he won Rivals 2, he was a non factor in terms of storylines except for his one fight with Johnny. I'd maybe put him 3 over Miz, but not over CT or Johnny. Johnny had a memorable moment on Gauntlet 3 and then was a main character in every challenge he's done since then and made it to either the end or the second to last episode of every season. But, of course, I defer to the much more competent hand behind this thread.

It is tough though to disregard his five wins against people with only one or two wins, but I am curious how this rankdown will end, so far it has been really good.

Well he may have five wins but he's never really been an interesting or dynamic character. He was alright on his first few seasons then the Island happend and he's been awful ever since then. He may have more wins and he is a good competitor but I feel like CT/Wes/Mike were better characters than him and justified their existences on the show alot more than Backpack ever did.

Personally, I would also put one of the three above Bananas, but Bananas has been in the spotlight most (I would even go as far as saying every) of the season he has been on IMO with Rivals and Ruins as the ones with the least spotlight for him. To me, he justified his existences on the show just as much as the other three, even more, just because he was never gone too early (minus his debut) or in the background most of the times he was there, which is why I said it will be tough to disregard the next factor that comes to my mind after existence/interesting/dynamic... wins. His five wins, especially since he has the same ammount of wins as all the three together.

I don't see any way CT, Wes, Bananas are not top 3 in some order.

Miz was great but as stated before his "career" was much shorter than the aforementioned.  Also from a competition standpoint he's not on their level imo.

I could see Derrick busting into the top 3.  He had a storyline that spanned multiple seasons (his not winning despite being a good competitor). Plus, he sort of was the ugly duck on BOTS2 that turned into someone you want on your team.  And his Gauntlet 2 performance was one of the best individual performances for a non-winner in challenge history.

Although I don't think Bananas is a really indepth character, CT is only a good character when he has his supporting characters like Diem or Adam in that season. In his older seasons, he was never really anything major until his love story with Diem and in Rivals 1 he a road to redemption storyline with Adam.  But I do feel as though CT had the biggest impact to the Challenge than Wes or Bananas, in terms of casual viewers and fans alike. They are more likely to remember CT than any other guys, I think.

Wes is the best character to ever be on this show simply for the fact that he plays the same character and is completely different in real life lmao.

Isn't it true he cuts his hair every time he appears on a challenge.

I found it hilarious when Bananas was on the reunion  trying to say that Wes's gameplans always fail and suck and he's just sitting there smiling like "its just a show to me dude".

He should be number 1 imo.. CT is too dependent on other cast mates to make himself relevant.

Isn't that what most of these people do on this show?(and really any reality show?)

This comment is so ridiculous it is hilarious.

Backpack for sure should be number 1 .. he's like a challenge king .

Like the user way above I think it'll be

1) CT

2) Bananas

3) Miz

4) Wes

I think CT is the biggest name from this show for a casual viewer. Ask random viewers to name someone from The Challenge (if they can) and they will most likely name CT.

I asked my friend once, and she only named like five cast memebers, CT, Diem, Coral, Veronica, and I believe it was Beth. And she watched Rivals1 Exes1 and Exes 2....lol

Hey guys! Loving the comments and I want to say many of you are very close with your ideas. I don't want to give anything away but it's interesting reading your thoughts now that we're in the home stretch.

FYI, tomorrow I will post the next 6 (3 guys and 3 girls) and my goal is to have the countdown finished by Sunday.

I know not everybody will agree with the rankings, but I tried to be as objective as possible. For example, if I were to rank my personal favorites, quite frankly somebody like Kenny as an example would be nowhere near this top 10, but it's hard to deny his impact. I think ultimately, I feel confident that when you think of the challenge, the 5 guys and 5 girls in the top will be the first people you generally think of.

And again, as a reference, remaining people:

- Wes, Theo V, Derrick, Kenny, Mark, Miz, CT, Bananas

- Coral, Beth, Katie, Diem, Julie, Tonya, Veronica, Aneesa

I think your top 10 was pretty spot on (besides Tina not being in it!)

my guesses

3. Bananas / Diem or Katie

2. Miz / Veronica

1. CT / Coral

lol I mean when he isnt fighting adam or trying to kiss diem he's pretty much in the background.. Other than Rivals 1.

Excatly. Without Diem he would be retired after Duel imo.
