How many old schoolers, Denver and before, that also includes Road Rules, if really sought after to be on Challenge 29 would actually say yes to doing it?

And would there presence make an impact ratings wise?

It would bring people back to the show I bet.

No it wouldnt impact rating, if anyone think having Darrell,Arissa, etc.

Would bring 1.0 then that person is delusional. MTV as a network is suffering rating wise as a whole, getting.7-1.0 is hit now days on MTV. If a show like Teen mom barely gets over those ratings now days a show that since it premiere it has double and evem triple the challenge ratings then realistically I dont see it happening.

I think some of you are being a little dramatic about the ratings. There are a few people I would like to have seen but I won't deny that this was a great premiere. Bringing back a bunch of old Vets won't help the show because a lot of the viewers from that time period are no longer invested in the show or MTV period. The issue is simply the promotion. The commercials and trailer was great but they didn't advertise in the right areas. Promoting the show on Entertainment Weekly and MTV isn't enough and it sucks when they go out of their way for shows like Shannara which will likely end up like Eye Candy. I see the show eventually rising up to 700k so I don't think we should stress to much since that's a hit these days. Smile

Umm how about Finals???

As in College finals? Like they can't stop for one hour and watch their show.

Yeah I lol'd at that suggestion.

well i mean yeah.  don't see how y'all 't see this is a logical explaination.

I don't see the big deal for Sylvia. she was never funny, everything she contributed to her season was negative. like LITERALLY everything negative.

Vi has potential. she was somewhat of a flop, but she has potential.

Now Lurker it would mean the world to me if you would reply to Witty's comment and slay the **** out of Vi and Sylvia.

I don't get MTV as part of my campus cable.

^^^ THIS. Witty you know good as well that nightime is when college students study the heck out of themselves, at least during the weekdays. during the weekends it might be different. i'm pretty sure 10:00 p.m. is when everyone is occupied in cramming.

Quiet, Sylvia was the best thing to come out of that season, and I think she has a lot of potential on these challenges. I like Violetta, but I feel like she was a little try-hard.

Sylvia on these challenges would be everything! C'mon BMP! Smile

It's clear we rather have Jenna, Thomas, Jessica, Leroy and the AYTO flops instead smh. But I'm hopeful Challenge 29 will be the time where she graces our screens again.

I really wouldn't sweat abou the ratings.  Networks don't rely on nielsen ratings like they used to, especially mtv I think we're going to see the Challenge for at least a few more years.

And lets say in an alternate universe, they bring in old vets and viewers come back to watch.  It wouldn't matter because they are older (over 24) than the demographic MTV is advertising for.

Who gives a ****? The old schoolers are far more entertaining.

Good TV is good TV is good TV.

I actually said something about The Challenge at work last night and I was blown away by how many of my coworkers actually watch it. Most casually, one or two diehards.

The general consensus? Every single one of them said that the show would be so much better if the old schoolers came back.

It's nice to see your ancedotal evidence consisting of a sample size of what? 10-20 is an accurate reflection of the half a million people who watch the show.

The Challenge blows now, is gimmicky, and steals ideas from better reality competition shows and still fails. No wonder they were quick to film two this year, milking the cash cow before they pull the plug.

You're clearly biased. Good day.

The point I'm making is if they are really concerned with seeing the show all they have to do is take one hour away from studying and watch the show. It's not a legit excuse to me unless you don't have campus cable.

Are you...a college student? Or have you been? My best friend is a Challenge DIE HARD. She's watched since Inferno 2. She was upset because she had to miss the premiere because she had too much work to do that night. This is the busiest time of year for college students

Yes I'm a college student. She couldn't be a "die hard" fan is she didn't pick up the remote to watch the show. All she had to do was mute the TV and study during commercial breaks. #OOPS

Alot of people. For example, people who depend of the people success of the show to make a living. They don't care about "good tv", they care about money.

Does how much it's trending help out the cause of keeping the show? #4 on a Wednesday night with an empire finale, that's gotta say something. Don't remember the last time the challenge was trending

Good TV is what makes them the money.

Isn't the 18-49 demographic mostly what they look at?

Well I mean..He's not wrong.

I think it's the 12-18 or 12-24. One of those is what they aim at mostly.

Good TV is what makes them the money.

TV shows that people in their demo watch is what makes them money. Whatever gets them the most views in their demo is what they're going to make.

Here are MTV's ratings this week.....

Monday
10:00- Follow The Rules- 347,000 (.13)
10:31- Follow The Rules- 388,000 (.15)

Tuesday
10:00- Finding Carter- 303,000 (.16)

Wednesday
10:00- The Challenge: Battle of the Bloodlines- 548,000 (.35)
11:31- True Life- 190,000 (.12)

Thursday
10:00- Ridiculousness- 529,000 (.26)
10:31- Middle of the night show- 164,000 (.10)

The Challenge did the best ratings wise (obviously) and pretty on par with their other shows so not just The Challenge is slipping like some of you think.
Also, The Challenge's  P18-49 demographic was the highest which I think is also important. So there is hope IMO.

Exactly. Some people just made their faves didn't make the cut this year. I was skeptical at first but that was a great premiere.

Also, if you look at shows like Survivor which use to get 20-50 million viewers, they know get 8-9 million viewers. Like shows drop in ratings after being on for so long. And The Challenge as is only got like 2 million viewers in its prime maybe 3 million so this drop is not bad I think. Especially with the whole network being dead!

Good TV is what makes them the money.

TV shows that people in their demo watch is what makes them money. Whatever gets them the most views in their demo is what they're going to make.

Well then they're not making very much then because obviously the demo isn't watching.
