my thing is like... we have had sooooo many pairs challenges lately. if they ever want to do another rookies/vets challengers/champions thing, they need to get a few more new era winners or they will never be able to round out a cast for a theme like that. a big team challenge would allow for more than just two winners this year (maybe)
A pairs challenge complicates the theme even more than teams. Like Christina is with Thomas's Bloodline, but Thomas's Bloodline is with Aneesa. Aneesa's with Bananas, Bananas's with Jenna. So on and so forth. This creates a very tangled web that simple-minded casual viewers will not be able to follow. We understand it, but they don't know how these people are connected before the season starts, so dividing them up in pairs dilutes the premise even more, stretching the theme even further beyond repair. At least teams makes the division easier to comprehend.
I agree. I think mismatched teams with Bloodlines on opposite teams would work best. Alumni vs Bloodlines doesn't sound too great for me. No viewer will care for the Bloodline team and the Alumni team could end up winning every challenge.
The more I think about it, I dont think they are going to be partnered with someone random for the entire challenge. Maybe free agents style but thats as far as it would go. Like mentioned , the tangled up teams just wont work for viewers who dont follow from the start.
All I need is a Aneesa win like that's the only person I want to see win , Since my gut is telling me it's pairs so hopefully Cory's Bloodline looks just like him and is a male and is Aneesa Partner , and they pull the win.
It depends who he is taking one of his cousins from his mom side look like an skinnier Mike Ross.

I view this as a normal fresh meat season. Half the cast is completly new. You air an episode (even on MTV.com/Youtube) just for the future bloodlines. So that they already know who they are connected with. Similiar to "meet the meat". And that web-thing, you can easily get that out of the way, by give a short summary of what happened up until this point every episode, MTV did this a lot on Fresh Meat 2, it never really got complicated and they can easily write under every bloodlines name whose bloodline they are, like MTV does on every challenge. Plus, you guys already showed us what possible unlikely alliances could be formed, complitely trashing every preshow alliance!!!! This acutally means that most the guys have to play a bit strategic and the pecking order is wayyy hard to predict.
I am sorry, but I find it hard to believe that the viewer will somehow start caring about any bloodline in a team where half the team is with filled with alumnis (who are mostly their favorite) unless he/she has a Brandon-esque winning streak. They will view them similar as many people here "as non cast members". If you are an alumni and you don't want to get rid of the weakest bloodline/weak link of your team, you are simply crazy! And with this mixed team format, only maybe 3,4 bloodline will see the final as most of them will be send in first in this format. Why should any cast member from previous MTV shows and season want that a bloodline should make money? They only care about their own bloodline.
Plus, this theme only works if the bloodlines have to go against each other constantly at some point. With a pair challenge, the possibility of that to happen is higher than in a normal team challenge, where every alumni with their right mind in place, should want to get rid of the weakest bloodline first before anyone else.
Cohutta is a good competitor IMO. He did the forth best on free agents after CT Zach and Bananas in missions
I agree. Cohutta has never been a bad competitor and I think he has what it takes to win. The only thing with him is his size.
Exactly! I mean he took out Syrus and Wes. That was the first time Wes ever lost.. #TeamCohutta
Veronica explained why he beat Wes perfectly and Syrus, well past his prime, destroyed Cohutta on the log--he just fumbled the key. He even got the best possible chance to beat Darrell. This is what we mean when we say he's overrated. He's solid--a good guy to have on a big team--not a great competitor.

I remember reading on here a while back that production does not think the casual viewers can follow huge team formats hence why we have been getting pair formats and I honestly feel like this season is no different.

i wonder why they think that though, like to me that makes no sense. you would think a big team format would be easier to follow than for the casual viewer to remember every episode why certain people are rivals

Because the casual viewer is dumb and has no attention span.

I don't see why it would be a problem. A lot of casual, dumb people can follow Survivor, which always has big teams/tribes

MTV casual viewers are not as attentive as CBS viewers.

IDK I remember V1man saying the target demographic for The Challenge is 13-18/19-24. I have a feeling Survivor's is a little older.

Because it's harder to remember every member (if they are like 14 people on one) of a team than seven pairs. Plus, you force people more to get into the spotlight than hiding from it when you are in a team of 14 people.

Wouldn't there be 14 pairs? But yeah, I guess it cuts half the number of units you need to remember

Well, these are casual MTV viewers. But even then, I'm surprised (and relieved) they didn't think like this for Free Agents. I'd imagine it being easier to follow two teams of 14 than it would be to follow 28 individuals. (which were put into two teams of 14 for the first mission, then teams of 10, etc. And I don't think viewers were having a tough time paying attention to those challenges)

I think the Survivor dumb is on a higher level than the MTV dumb lol. A lot of the casuals that watch The Challenge now are of the AYTO2 type of people. Just watch that show & you'll get an idea lol

You're right 14 total, but I was talking just about one team with 14 members or 7 "teams" with two.
Try this, on Ruins/Cutthroat/Some challenges on FA, only a handful of people were in the spotlight while doing those challenges, the rest could hide from all the other members and they could avoided elimination very easily. Whereas on FM/Rivals/BOTE you HAVE to perform way more to stay out of elimination.

You're letting your personal feeling about him impact how you see him. He's not a good athlete. Great competitor is laughable
This new mod is bomb af.

On free agents he was good tho. Better than the ruins IMO
Cohutta is like the male version of Jonna on a competitive standpoint.
Agreed, not that impressive but might have what it takes.
