That left a sour taste in my mouth for Steve. Ace was the star of the season and the lack of conversation around him confuses me. Was he this weird in earlier seasons? I don't remember him at all.. only remember his name. I don't think Cara would've won you saw how slow she runs?
If it had been the same final just without the star twist, I think Steve wins but Cara is second. They both almost won even with that twise, which kind of shows up much Laurel didn't perform well (a rarity). I also wouldn't say Cara was slow, she was just pacing herself which was a good strategy for her to conserve energy. I think WOTW and WOTW2 finals showed her that pacing is key for her cause a steady pace is better than being fast (see also Paula, Diem to a degree).
But still, Steve is the one really robbed with the star format. It was so dumb. It would have made more sense that the winner of the checkpoint got the loser's star instead of friends deciding. It really did hurt to have better performing friends in the game, in the case of Steve/Ace/Cara who were closer to each other (and others who left) than losers in the final.
Not to mention its so stupid to have just one winner, and not one of each gender. Dude got robbed, just like Jonna/Kellyanne got robbed in the first season.

The final sentence just explained Cara Maria's confessional about not being friends with losers. I didn't understand what she meant until now lol
Love this final - I love when it can be anyones game. I like Laurel but wish she would have been eliminated with Nicole. Queen V made the top 6 though so happy for her!
This season could have been so much better with editing - Kam/Leroy and Laurel/Nicole storylines got stale so fast. I still don't like that Kam got cast - I feel like that's why All stars 5 is the way it is - it opened the door. Kefla, Flora, the mean girl trio = this is what All Stars is all about - seeing these faces again who are entertaining and genuine. I'm still so mad with how they ruined the show with All Stars 5.
Also I'm bitter that when Janelle quit they didn't bring in Genesis. We were robbed. We also were robbed of the greatness of more screen time of Flora.

I agree with everything. And them editing the Tina vs flora feud, flora apparently fighting with Cara, and the full Ayanna drama is bad on their part. I do think the missions weren't competitive enough outside of like 3, but overall a good season.
but anything better than Ride or Dies and Battle for a new champ is good in my book.
i agree they could have expanded the stories beyond kingston and laurel/nicole but i guess thats all they think we want to see. steve was awesome this season and deserved that win. hopefully he is able to keep coming back and get one in the future. still would rewatch this over any of the recent flagship seasons extending back to 35.
I didn't hate the final, but it was definitely jank. I thought the star loop portion was fine, but I wish they had switched up the stations to be something different each time. Day 1 definitely sucked and had too much stopping and starting.
The star twist is what really ruined it for me. I stan Laurel despite (or maybe due to) her unhinged nature, but she got so many advantages because her friends got eliminated it was nuts. I want to see straight up competition without advantages or sabotages.
Steve... listen to damn instructions! On AS2 he didn't listen and ended up straight into elimination and lost to Teck. Here it potentially cost him 250k and the title. It would've been the perfect ending to the season had he won, especially since he went 3-0 in eliminations.

Eh, for this final I get it; I don't think it was a final with a clear advantage for one gender over another.

Omg I forgot that about AS2! That should have been the lesson learned to then ensure he won here. I can't stan anymore.
Having said that, have we talked about trashy Nicole cussing Steve out and spraying him in the face, and then in the very next challenge asking him to give her information? Like, she really needs help.
I think the final star twist could have made sense if it'd been emphasized from the beginning that friendships were important -- if if it's been an important theme the whole season. Like this is the reverse of what happened on WOTW2: TJ spent the entire season pusing to keep the team big/not losing your teammates, and then not only did a bigger team be a disadvantage in the final with more weight, they had a purge to cut down the team.
So yeah, if the friendship element had just been a key point throughout the season followed through into the final, I think most people wouldn't have much -- if any -- issue with the final. Outside biased stans, anyway.

I'd still have an issue, and not because of being a biased stan, but because I think it's stupid. Period. This is The Challenge. I want to see people compete. I don't want to see anyone just get to skip multiple parts of a final. Imagine if in track and a field one hurdle jumper had to jump fewer hurdles than the others, or if in baseball one team got to have 4 outs in random innings instead of 3.
And also, yes, I want drama. I don't want 'twists' that ultimately discourage people on these shows from creating drama.

Yeah the twist is still stupid simply because, as OS said, giving an advantage in a competition game based on friendship is inherently dumb -- I just think it would have been more accpetable if it'd been a theme throughout the season, not a random add-on last minute.
Finding out Laurel was injured at least makes me feel better about how close it was. I think a healthy Laurel still likely smokes those check points and wouldn't need the skips to win, but it still rubs wrong how it played out in this case.
I do wonder what happened to Ace? He was the life of party. He was known in GA for being very social and loved to be around people. Now he is a recluse with extreme social anxieties, he had to back out of Challenge Mania bc he can't be around people. I wonder what happened in his years off to cause the switch in personality.
The Champs vs Pros final was much more difficult than this one, to be sure.

i think this finale was interesting

Having a twist that encourages people to get along and be nice on a reality show is dumb af.
WE NEED VILLAINS! And I dont mean wes and devins contrived bullshit

I would have rathered watched Ace and Laurel argue over any Laurel and Nicole scene.
AS4 season further solidified how FM2 is such an important season because the two dogs came from that season.
It works on Survivor but not on this final.
This and all the other fights that were edited out.
I CANT BREATHE LOL GO TO THE POST AND LOOK AT THE TOP COMMENTS
Cara Maria: Get this off my feed ace
Cara Maria: Also. It's ok to not like people

Jay replied to Ace's post with "I don't understand this" lmao!! My word the way I want to ride Jay hard.
I really am annoyed by ace... hope I don't have to see him again.
why was he going to diem's funeral in ny if he had nowhere to stay? He must have a mental delay or illness...
Really?
Do you think he was wondering around the streets of NY and John just saw him and offered Laurel's place? I'm sure it was arranged beforehand.

why was he as a full grown adult traveling to New York with nowhere to stay? there is such a thing as saying I can't make it.
