Herein lies the difference between our positions: You state that you "think..." while I wrote "you would not..." I believe you are stating an opinion while I'm offering an observations based upon what I know to the the situation. Several people have real jobs/careers they've said they will not leave. (But this discussion has nothing to do with ratings, so mods, do your thing...)
your too much
Bunim can't really do anything about it...
LOL
your too much
I'm sure you mean "you're;" otherwise, please finish your thought and tell me of what I am apparently too much.
I'm English. I will type my language any which way I want, thank you.
I'm English. I will type my language any which way I want, thank you.
...the difference between "your" and "you're" is the same in American English and British English, is it not?
...the difference between "your" and "you're" is the same in American English and British English, is it not?
yeah but still
Hopefully BMP will realize that most people are interested in the party scene and drama then whatever they're doing this season. I have never missed an episode since San Diego and I think I stopped watching after episode 4. This season is one of the most boring ones I have ever laid eyes on. BMP had a good thing going for them with the NOLA and Vegas seasons but I'm afraid this will ruin it :/.

The first few seasons of the Real World were good because it was new for us to watch such "different" people living with eachother. It was very interesting watching the issues over race, over sexuality and the different lifestyles everyone lived. But, this is the 26th season, we've seen pretty much every different personality. I think that this season is bad though, not because they don't party enough, but because most of the cast isn't "interesting" and also, because all of the cast members this season are aware they are going to be on TV and because of this, don't want to start any drama that could embarass themselves (except for Frank).
yeah but still
:laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:
I still say they should cast a midget next season if they want ratings. They've never done it before and it would at least be interesting for the first couple of episodes.
your too much
I know what you meant.
I still say they should cast a midget next season if they want ratings.
Interesting as in to see how long it takes for people to stop calling them midgets and opt for the politically correct term "little person"?
Little person is too vague. Everyone knows what a midget is though.
I call them dwarfs, I'm sure that is PC. Anyway I think someone with tourette's would be more interesting.
Little person is too vague. Everyone knows what a midget is though.
...I just can't.
I'm English. I will type my language any which way I want, thank you.
ILoveRW, I think you're being totally disrespectful to V1MAN. He's just giving you advice trying to help you. He knows alot about the industry and the people in it. Not to mention he just knows alot about life in general. V1Man is one of the few people here that I look to and trust around here.
...I just can't.
No worries, the ever-popular Wikipedia is on top of this for both of us...
A midget is a short person with relatively average bodily proportions in comparison with other human beings. The term is often improperly used to describe a person with the medical condition dwarfism. The two terms are often used synonymously because both terms originate as words defining small people. However, "midget" is regarded as offensive to those with dwarfism by both the Restricted Growth Association (UK based support network for people of profound short-stature) and the Little People of America (the American support network), along with many other nationally based groups, advocating the rights of individuals with disabilities and dwarfing conditions. The term "midget" was coined in 1865 to describe an extremely short person with body proportions similar to those of a normal-sized person's.[1] P. T. Barnum indirectly helped popularize the term midget when he began featuring General Tom Thumb in his circus. "Dwarf" originally denoted people with disproportionately short limbs. "Midget" however became linked to referencing short people put on display for public ridicule and sport, whereas the terms "dwarf" or "dwarfism" have a more medical base. Like many other older terms, midget has become part of popular language, although it is sometimes used in a derogatory sense.[2] When applied to a person who is very short, midget is an example of the euphemism treadmill.[3] Actor Hervé Villechaize insisted on being called a "midget" as opposed to a "little person", which irritated some dwarf activists of the time. Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary (Merriam-Webster, 1961) defines midget in the noun form as "a very diminutive person", and in the adjective form as "like a midget in size; very diminutive", hence its usage as a synonym for "miniature", as with cars. According to the Online Etymology Dictionary, the term midget comes from midge, a sand fly, and the diminutive suffix -et.[4]
1.^ Kennedy, Dan (2005-05-23). I was just looking at the Tv listings on Tv Guide's website and it said there was only going to be 11 episodes of this season; does that sound right ?

Since there has been a multi-year series on TLC on Little People plus a derivative show, I doubt there is much MTV could add to the conversation (and those who have watched the shows would know how incredibly offensive the word "midget" is to people who have dwarfism). Someone with Tourettes would just be sad and would be really hard to edit so they wouldn't get much on-air time. I'd argue that those things would be seen as just pathetic gimmicks and would not heal the systemic problems with Real World ratings. Perhaps if they decided to focuc on a different demographic, then they would find better ways to improve the quality of the content.

Perhaps they should simply cast the seven very best people they can find and let their story unfold. Mary-Ellis Bunim's original vision for the show was to allow the cast to have their own journey of discovery. Remember, "... the true story... of eight strangers... picked to live in a house...work together and have their lives taped... to find out what happens... when people stop being polite... and start getting real."
"Nate is in Narnia", "Zach and Ashley", and "The Real World" = worldwide trending topics on Twitter tonight. I thought I'd share the news! I haven't been keeping up with the season recently but it looks like somehow tonight's episodes have gotten some attention.
Man, these next 2 episodes are about to do RJ Berger numbers. lol
Man, these next 2 episodes are about to do RJ Berger numbers. lol
Well, now that you mention it, in its final season ratings for "The Hard Times of R.J. Berger" ranged between 765,000 and 1.37 million viewers. The upper number is already above the RW's low for this SD season. 1.37M is a number MTV might beg to have again.

I've read that Mary-Ellis Bunim really was protective of the casts and thought of them as family which makes me wonder what she would have thought of Jon running the ship aground the way he has in the hunt for an increasingly elusive (and IMO overrated in importance) television demographic. On the plus side, nowhere to go but up.
SEVEN strangers,,not eight..7
Yes, but I "borrowed" that quote from MTV's Brooklyn season page in homage to Baya, Katelynn, and Devyn, all of whom I adore.

Well technically it originally was 6 though so...
