I want to like Laurel. She is a KICK *** competitor and I find her beautiful and endearing in her goofy/nerdy ways....when she's not going around talking out of her *** and insulting or picking on people. Which lately has been all the time. I flove her from the moment the horn blows to start a competition, as she competes, and up until the horn blows at the end. Then she goes back to the house, opens her mouth, spouts nasty nonsense, and I'm back to disliking her all over again until the next competition begins.
This is when I miss Coral and Beth. Either one of them would have put Laurel in her place the moment she started her "YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE HERE!!!!" crazy. And that's what Laurel needs, to be firmly put on her place by someone who could care less how "strong" she is. The alpha guys will allow her to run rampant if it helps their game because their acceptance keeps her Amazonian skills in their clutches and under their control. Just like Sarah.
She is only 5'11'', I believe. It's been stated that MTV had it wrong. She is shorter then Kenny and Kenny is 6'2''.
Shocking.
Haha ok 5'11 makes a lot more sense than 6'3. I wonder how MTV can be 4 inches off, not verify it and pass that as official information. But still, she's taller than the average, so that's lovely :)
You'd be surprised at how much MTV does that...
Also, it said on Fresh Meat 2 that Laurel is 6'3, and a lot of the other girls on this challenge look like they are under 5'5. I don't know their actual heights, but Katelynn, Aneesa, and Robin are the only ones who look like they reach 5'8. And if you compare her to Mandi, Cara Maria and Jasmine, it gets even worse haha. So Laurel looks like a giant.
One of the many reasons why I love her; I'm tired of only seeing girls under 5'10 on this show.
You make that sound like girls under 5'10" isn't representative of the normal population...obviously girls over that height exist, but they're rather uncommon. I don't see why BMP should go out of their way to find them and put them on the show.

A quick google just gave me the stats that for the US (2004 I think) 5 % of females are taller than 5'8 for an average height of 5'3.8. So I guess BMP has been reasonable.
That being said, its nice to have taller females to help bridge the athletic gap between the guys and gals. Theoretically.

Wow...thanks for looking at facts and being willing to change your opinion. It's nice to know that there are people willing to amend their beliefs based on facts, instead of insisting on something regardless of the evidence. But yes, I do agree it would be nice to have taller females. Honestly though, even more athletic and independent ones would be nicer. I mean, Evelyn is around 5'5", which while above average isn't really tall, but she kicks *** and makes her own game. I just wish they would get rid of Casey, Shauvon and Brooke for good...they add nothing.

Those three don't add anything good to the competition, but I think they are entertaining to watch.

I've always loved Ev and the fact that she's short makes it even more impressive that she measures up to guys. And Cara Maria is short and also had the best stats. But it's just like what Laurel said: her height gives her an advantage most of the time;.and Kenny also said that she's the most comparable to a guy, so it's nice to see that part of the population represented.
I found her annoying on her original season, but after Cutthroat, I like/respect her. She talks a lot of **** but she also backs it up, she's a good player.
Sarah's puking in the cutthroat final and doesn't want to quit
Laurel: 'It's better for ME, if you leave'
Big Easy is lookin for an apology at the reunion
Laurel: 'Because for ME.. omg this is so annoying that I have to relive this..'
Just some of the examples.. She's a great competitor but seems to have a very selfish personality, and when she realizes she looks like a ***** she suddenly acts all nice. For example at the reunion she says next time she's gonna make sure she doesn't have any *******s she has to share the money with. Then Sarah says in the end it was best they still had Luke and Cara Maria on the team, and all of a sudden Laurel is 'all about teamwork'.
And looking at the trailers she's gonna be a ***** to Paula this time, so she probably hasn't changed. So I'm looking forward to a challenge without her.

Well Brooke hasn't been on a challenge since the Duel 2 which was 4 challenges ago, and Casey's last challenge was the Ruins (3 challenges ago). Casey seemed to hate her experience on the Ruins. Brooke never really showed a lot of interest in the game, while being on the challenge. So I don't think they'll be back, but who knows. As for Shauvon, she will keep coming back, even though she will never make it past episode 3 in any challenge she does.
She is not as athletic as she thinks she is. She's slow, she's big (which is a disadvantage in certain challenges), she's not that quick, and for a former vball player she cant really jump. So she needs to get her ego in check.
It's not that she's so much better than the other girls, but instead its that the other girls are so much worse if you know what I mean.
I think Ev, Rachel, Kelly Anne, Susie, Camila, and even her nemesis Cara Maria are all better athletes than her.
The only thing she has over the other girls is strength thats mostly cus of her size. I would like to see her and Aneesa go at it in a physical elimination.

While I'm not a Laurel fan, if vs. Aneesa head-to-head, in a contest of pure physical strength, Aneesa would not likely last 30 seconds. (based on the assessment of cast members' I've talked to about Laurel, and having met Aneesa on a couple of occasions.)

I disagree, she would beat the heck out of Camila and Cara Maria in a elimination, I think her doing work in FM2 in challenges proves she is pretty good. But Ev and Rachel could beat her.

I have a hard time understanding your point of view.... If you say Cara Maria is better based on the trials for FM, then you're still saying Laurel is strong because she was 2nd, plus she did good in the rest of the challenges on FM and she and Kenny beat Darrell and Cara Maria in that first challenge.... unless you're that ready to admit that Kenny is better than Darrell..... (I'm gonna go with Laurel is better than Cara Maria). Laurel did really well on Frest Meat and on all the challenges in Cutthroat except the Jumping Bed challenge (idk the real name). So I have no idea what that speculation and opinion is based on, because it's obviously not based on facts.

For the purposes of discussion... facts? Do we really have any, or do we simply have observations from the edit of a TV show. What does "better" mean? I know some old school cast members who are incredibly strong but have issues with anything performed at heights from the ground. Certainly it would make sense if we could compare performances in the same event under the same conditions with the equal levels of pre-show fitness, but we never will get the. Everyone is different on every challenge.
In the comparison of Laurel and Cara Maria, I have an open mind. Just because Laurel professes to be a jock and Cara Maria offers that the loves the challenges but is nonathletic and has performed poorly, it does not necessarily follow that we will have the same opinion of both cast members at the end of Rivals.

Agreed, "facts" are limited to what is edited and what the viewer sees, but if what I see more than a few times exhibit someone performing outstanding in missions, then I would guess that they're a better athlete in certain things than the one performing poorly or mediocre. May not be the best "measuring rod" but it's what we know. I personally think it's kinda ridiculous when people turn a blind eye to obvious abilities because they dislike someone's personality.... it's like saying Lionel Messi is a horrible football player because I don't like him being shy, or more applicably, it's as though I said "Evelyn is a bad competitor and Paula is better than her" because I dislike Ev.
I personally think I may like CM better this challenge than I did last. Then again, this is how these shows usually go; you like (or dislike) a person at different times depending partially on their actions and partially on what the producers decide to show.

No one said Laurel is a horrible athlete, I just simply said she is not as great as she thinks she is and what the general perception is about her.
The closest thing we have to fact when it comes to measuring her athleticism is the fresh meat 2 combine thing, sure she came in 2nd but thats cus the rest of the girls there were that bad. Cara Maria is not that athletic either but she did beat her.
Its true that I don't like her as a person but I'm not letting that cloud my judgement. She hasn't really impressed me that much in the challenges, I guess I'm just waiting to see what she's made of in an elimination round.

This reminds me that I've been looking for an opportunity to mention that we really do see only snippets of the missions and elimination events. The first women's mission (Reaching out) from The Duel comes to mind. It was a the entire group of women tethered to each other with the winner determined by who would first reach something in the sand placed ahead of each of them, as I recall. In the edit, we only saw a short clip of this competition, but in fact for about 20 minutes all of the women were pulling against Beth but together they couldn't move her. In the end, they all pulled toward Robin and against Beth with Robin winning. It was a defining moment at the beginning of the challenge, and established Beth as a dominant physical presence because the length of the event indicated not only her strength but her stamina, something completely unexpected to most of the other cast members. Viewers didn't get this picture, however, given how much was cut from the tape of the actual event.
Absent our viewing an entire mission or challenge, we really only have the representation the editors want us to have, and those episodes are only edited to reflect the story editors overall story line for the purposes of drama, and not to document history. The best picture of Laurel's ability is best seen through the eyes of other competitors, and not watching the episodes. At best, we get a diluted version of truth, and occasionally, we get a near avoidance of truth altogether.
I must say, I skipped Fresh Meat 2 all together, then I watched the Cutthroat finale before Cutthroat, and when I saw that moment with Eric I thought I couldn't stand Laurel. However, I wound up watching Cutthroat and seeing that that was one drunken moment, and that she actually made a lot of sense with wanting Cara Maria out, it was frustrating when Abram thought Laurel wasn't pulling her weight. It also shocked me that when watching the show on MTV I was pulling for Laurel and feeling sympathy for her in that final mission.
Hopefully she does well here, maybe they'll be friends after this :-/

The problem is how she goes about it. If she wants CM out, that's one thing. But she shouldn't go up to her and be all like "You don't deserve any of my money that I single handedly won (with Abram)." Plus, there's an interview on the dailies where she cries because she has to share money with other people. She just seems selfish to me based on what they've shown and other things I've heard.

I'm sad now because I thought that challenge was hilarious from what was shown on TV! The girls were in 2 groups, with Beth straight down the middle, and she refused to move! But I'm surprised at how strong she was, I wish they didn't edit that out. Sorry for getting so off-topic :P
After re-watching the cutthroat reunion show, I dont know how ANYONE could like this girl. Drunk or not she is an awful person IMO.
I'm really happy she doesn't win. I hope she never does.

I don't really mind Laurel. As obnoxious as she appears on the show, she's there to try and win.
It's either "to try, and win" or "to try to win." The difference is not so subtle, and I don't know which you mean.

... I meant that she's on the challenge for the sole purpose of trying to win the prize. I thought it was clear, but I guess not. Sorry for the confusion.

That was my way of being polite about inarticulate grammar. Thanks for the clarification.
Some people agree to do the challenges knowing that the probability of a win is minimal at best. They participate for 1) the check, 2) the marketing value of the exposure, and/or 3) the vacation/party. Others including Laurel, Kenny, Wes, Evan, Evelyn and even CT come with a "this is mine to lose" mindset.
I believe this is why we see some of them break down mentally and emotionally. They put enormous pressure on themselves to excel, and at then end, not all can win. While some of us might watch in acticipation of those weak moments, I think it's worth remembering that even the strongest competitors have flaws. Unfortunately, Laurel's have been prone to involve alcohol and unbridled opinions or forces beyond her control. The results of both must be difficult to handle with a part of one's life being so public.
So Laurel came into my job today (shoe store) and was actually very nice and polite. She also doesn't seem like such a giant in person as she does on tv, even though I'm only 5'1.
She's also a blonde now.
