It was. It was called reel them in or something but it was the inferno 3.
I think Sarah would have had a better shot at beating Evelyn...but, yes, no one was going to beat Evelyn is Shadowfighter but a great competitor puts up a fight. KellyAnne couldn't even move Evelyn an inch. KellyAnne's ceiling might be the equivalent of someone like Tori. I think Tori's a better athlete but KellyAnne has more fight.
She does need to come back to prove her status and ability, that's absolutely correct, but Sarah would not have done better than KA at that time. Regardless of what we saw, KA was considered to be the strongest challenger girl overall and that was reiterated many times throughout the show. Sarah was universally considered by the cast to be below Kelly Anne in terms of athleticism even if Sarah did better than KA at certain things and we also saw a couple of times times during the challenge where girls were trying to go against Sarah as a way to avoid an elimination against KA. Up until now, Sarah has had 6+ more challenges to prove herself so that goes without saying that Sarah is more proven and reliable competitor at this moment in time, but it doesn't change the fact that at that moment in time when they were on a challenge together, KA was seen as the alpha female competitor on the team over Sarah.

Sarah was bigger than KellyAnne and stronger IMO
KellyAnne would have outperformed Sarah in most eliminations that season but not Shadowfighter IMO

Sarah, as great of a competitor as she is, has had questionable displays of pure strength. From what I heard, Sarah struggled a lot when trying to pull Veronica across the the sand and couldn't even do so until Kelly Anne came to help. She also shouldn't have given Katie one ring in their elimination round IMO, and more recently, her struggle to carry Trishelle was a performance on par with Jemmye's and Jessica's. I think Sarah's greatest asset is that she is super confident in her abilities, quite possibly overly so, but still I don't think her puzzle abilities are as great as she hypes them up to be and I don't think she possess the endurance of someone like Diem, the tenacity or scrappiness of someone like Camila(or to the elimination extent, Aneesa) or lb/lb strength of Cara or Rachel or absolute strength of a Laurel. She has always reminded me of a female Wes, competitor wise. Not bad at anything, great swimmer and pretty okay-good at everything else. Now I would compare her more to Tyler since they both have a similar size advantage over the rest of the pool while Camila would be a Derrick, Laurel a CT, Rachel a Johnny, Evelyn a Landon, etc.
The last 30 pages of this thread are very depressing.
I really hope next season is not Exes 2.
And, if the ratings are down now (with CT), how is focusing further on the new generation going to fix that?
I think BMP needs to look back at past seasons to see which did very well ratings-wise and then bring back some of the key figures from those seasons.
Personally, I believe the cast makes the season. They should plan for their best possible cast AND THEN come up with some funky name/theme to divide that great cast by. By committing to a theme like Exes, they seriously limit the casting options, and end up putting off many viewers with their "fake/stretch" pairings.
I realize the younger crowd is the future of the show, so they have to continue to bring them in. Fine. Knight is entertaining. Frank causes tons of drama. Zach is a physical beast. Dustin does a little bit of everything. Got it.
But they need to balance that with some more tradition fan favorites, IMO. I think Kenny & Evan would help ratings and mix up the politics, personally, but even if they choose to not go that way, they can still throw some curveballs. Landon is physical enough to match up with Zach. Wes can be just as infuriating as Frank. Abram? Derrick and Darrell?
I think the cast needs to be a bit more balanced. And once they get it as good as they can, then they come up with a wonky theme and split them that way. The challenges need a silly side in order to stay fun. The more serious BMP takes it, the less "entertainment" and the more of a "competition" it'll become.

Neither Derrick/Darrel/Sadly Landon are not BMP casting priorities no more. Plus, by whatt I heard Derrick's wife doesn't want him to do anything MTV related (Hint:He delete his twitter and doesn't do podcast). Landon got a new job not so long go, I don't see him coming back.
Right now in order for a show to be successful is not really the cast, its the creative theme they get. Reality shows now days have way to much competition, so creative/relatable themes bring ratings.
Kenny/Evan are not ever coming back, that was part of the whole Tonya settlement enjoy them on after shows or specials.
Exes 2 is the theme they need to bring ratings and saved the franchise like the first Rivals did after a mediocre rating season Cutthroat, Rivals 2 did after a mediocre rating wise seasons 2, like explosion did after a mediocre rating wise season like Portland and Keep in mind Exes is the highest rated season from the last 8 seasons. I am not saying Exes is a lock for theme next season, but it will be smart if they do another exes.
Cutthroat/Fresh Meat/Seasons 2 and Another Free Agents are never happening again because the first ones did poorly on the ratings departments.

I blame Trishelle for that because if you watch, you see that she unlike every other girl didn't wrap her arms or legs around her partner. Also Sarah does cross fit now so she has gotten much stronger
Sarah is a great competitor but she definately thinks she is a lot better than she is and that is what bothers me about her.
It was great seeing Jonna/Jasmine beat her in a puzzle because of how cocky she was.

I think CT/Diem were the driving force of the high ratings of Exes 1. Going in that direction again, without CT/Diem, without Bananas/Camilla.....I don't think it will do anywhere near as well.
There have always been big personalities/characters that drive the show. Early on it was Mike The Miz, Coral, Beth, Veronica, etc. Then that transitioned into CT, Evan, Kenny, Bananas, etc. They're struggling because this new generation can't carry a season. Knight has the personality, but isn't good enough physically to stick around long enough to impact the game. Frank isn't likable enough. He brings drama, and is good for the show, but he's more of a nemesis/foil than a leading man. Zach is too good, physically (removes suspense), and too nice. Dustin is probably the best bet, but he hasn't developed the social game, and he got hurt at the wrong time.
BMP needs to do something, cause more of the same ain't gonna fix this. And I don't think Exes 2 is the answer, personally.

Correct--people not theme matter as far as I'm concern. If Seasons had a better cast the ratings would have been far better. The cast was just awful.
We can blame poor casting on The Real World for the problem but the "new generation" just doesn't entertain the way people like Coral/Veronica did. In order to be of value you must be entertaining and competitive.
All this said...Exes 2 is the safe ploy for next season unfortunately.

This is more depressing than the last thirty pages. The Challenge can survive without CT, apparently you're one of the delusional fans that thinks otherwise (and the reason the show is in it's current state).
If the new generation is never given the chance to shine and take the stage, how can the show continue? The series can not, and was not designed to be carried by a singular individual. It isn't a matter of the new generation not being able to carry a season, it's the fans and their unwillingness to accept them and let go of the former generation that's the issue. In the end, fans of the show will be its bane.

The show is designed to be comprised of the entire show not just the current seasons. Notice how older fans never had an issue accepting or allowing newer people to take over the show before. Real World casting has been awful. Most of the new people are absolutely useless athletically and as entertainment value.

Susanne Daniels just care about INCREASING ratings , they are not looking for the same big number as the first one. Rivals got higher ratings than the Rivals 2, but it did well enough to get it renew for two more seasons.
You cannot compare the show early seasons with now because back then it didn't have as much compettion, reality shows have involved and a show that is 25th season in is not going to do as well as first seasons.
Even with the strong personality as Kenny/Evan/Evelyn/etc the show was struggling at the time compared to other shows that were airing at that time. If you don't believed me go check the ratings threads on this board for The Gauntlet 3, The Island, Fresh Meat 2, and Cutthroat.
There was an article online not so long ago about how Reality show now days have to have a creative social experiments, instead of the normal stuff since they have some much competition. Plus explained to me how from the last 7 seasons/The Island/ to some extend Gauntlet 3 no matter the cast the only successful ones are the theme challenges?

This is the absolute truth. There is a very large pool of potential cast members for the show to pull from. CT is only one of them. RWRR4Life's post sounded if CT is a requirement to the show's success/survival. A lot of new viewers have that same mentality. Yes, CT is very popular, but he cannot carry the show by himself.
Knight is probably the most worthless castmember of the modern Challenge era. Unathletic, horrible personality, and weak commentary. He's pretty much a white male version of Devyn.

Look at Fresh Meat 2. Evelyn, Kenny, Wes, Paula, Jenn, Darrell, Jillian, Landon - all big names for that era, including popular old schoolers. Absolute ratings flop. Old schoolers are not the key to saving the show.
BMP doesn't cater to us. We're the super fans and they'll know we're going to watch regardless. They want to draw people in while being able to maintain the show successfully. Old schoolers are not likely to get involved in drama or hookup as they are more mature and have outside lives and careers. In an ideal world, believe me, I'd be totally in agreement with you, but realistically, if you want the Challenge to survive, it's gonna be basically new school and their story lines from here on out and the theme, more than the cast, is what attracts new or casual viewers to the season.

New viewers like themes because they can identify people easier. They do not have to watch past seasons to understand that these two dated or hate each other. When you slap on a label, such as Brawn/Brain/Beauty from Survivor: Cagayan, it makes it easier to understand. Yeah, it definitely sucks because it rules out some good formats, but it also prevents viewers from being alienated because they don't know who certain characters are or why they're there. It makes getting new viewers easier.

This is what I was saying weeks ago!!!!! Personal, real life issues attract ratings especially on MTV right now LOL.
This is why Exes, Rivals, Catfish, Teen Mom 2 were and are successful because some people could find this stuff so relatable & "real".

The problem with Free Agents is half the cast is new (see Seasons)
If it comes down to theme they have to start getting more creative.

I mean, we can create themes over anything
You still must have a cast that can maintain the viewers

Theme is more important than the cast in my opinion explain to me how Fresh Meat 2 with the alumni cast it had it wasn't successful? Same with the Island? And to some extend Gauntlet 3 at the time it was airing it wasn't do as good as other shows airing on MTV, if you check the rating thread for that season you will see what I am talking about and that cast was actually pretty good.
Those articles explain how now days shows with relatable and reliable themes are way more successful because viewers can relate to them. How can viewers related to old vs New, rookies vs vets, etc?
The MAIN problem of Free agents is the theme, viewers can't related to that
Does anyone know what challenge/what the mission was called where they had to get reeled in by the fishing rods from the boat? I thought i was inferno 3
Is that the one that Ev killed it in? I haven't seen it for a loooong time but your post sparked a memory.
Well, if I recall, some people were getting tired of seeing EK consistently winning. It was more of "Oh, those guys are on again, they'll probably win it" so they lost ratings. The switch at the end saved it but it was steamroll with lopsided teams.
If the teams are placed and people can identify, then it will work. Free Agents was different enough because people had gotten so used to pairs competition.
