Some of them are literally found in plain sight, like Janelle and CT in the first episode. Dan's was potentially in front of others. In theory Alan could have pulled the 2 teams who finished the challenge aside and announced it, but that would have been a bit odd. It wasn't the same as a team literally finding it in secret. Plus nothing in this game is really consistent throughout.

Is a person going for money? The shield? Did they get nothing? Is this person being suspicious because they have a shield and think youre a traitor or are they suspicious because theyre a traitor?
