This format is just terrible. They should've at least added a concept in the dailies that would give them some kind of safety which could potentially turn things around. But there's nothing they can do about it but pray their name doesn't get pulled out.

Their issue is they don't think things through. It was a decent starter idea but then they don't sit down and think through the possibilities of how it could play out and then think of ways to adjust to fix potential problems. They are just so lazy in every aspect.
Justin and Julie have a stranglehold on the franchise and those two morons couldn't fight their way out of a paperbag, so expecting a good format from them is hopeless.
The only good thing is that the 3 seasons that are about to air back to back have different formats. Instead of all of them just be pairs.

If I was a producer, I would have given them the option to "sabotage" at the beginning of the mission and if they chose to sit out there is a penalty that makes it harder for the team to win. Then they get to choose between four swords one sword says safety, one says pick someone to go into elimination, and two say straight into elimination. Or even more simple if you chose to sabotage and sit out if the team loses you are safe, if they lose you are automatically in the arena. That makes the challenges exciting, it would switch up the power dynamics, it would cause the majority to vote their own at times which could make people flip alliances. There was soo much potential with the idea but production dropped the ball.
